It’s possible to wake up and live your hair every day!
How? Well it’s actually really simple if you spend a little time researching what it is you want your hair to say and how much effort you are willing to put in to maintain it.
It’s about matching expectations to effort and somewhere in there is reality which you need to come to grips with. We all want to be fit but few will put in the work to reach the pinnacle of our goals, it’s just fact. You can’t expect to wake up looking like you are ready to shoot for Vogue without any effort. However if you have the right cut, know how to manage it.
Could be as simple as knowing you want it long enough to put up in a pony tail or the bangs out of your face. Once you set the rules, it’s easy to get what you want.
Have a plan, save some references and have a honest talk with yourself before visiting your stylist.
We are all officially over it and honestly hair is kind of the last thing on your mind we get it. It’s only on our mind because that’s what we do. If you are like many that get irritated with the smallest growth and inability to get a haircut when you want then maybe you should read this very carefully.
Before you take the big step here are 5 things you need to know!
1. It’s going to grow back, so don’t stress thinking this is the end
2. While you most likely don’t have to worry about your hair every week, once you get used to shaving it you will end up doing it every week at least!
3. You will save so much money you literally won’t know what to do with it!
4. Your shaped head whilst you think shaved head won’t suit you most likely is the same as everyone else. You aren’t that unique, sorry.
5. On a final note, your look will be suddenly timeless and no need to worry about trends it’s just bald!
So between the time and money you will save it’s almost a given that you should do it!
The date changed so that must mean things will be different right?
Well chances are nothing changes that fat but you can change your mindset and your look in almost an instant! Nothing feels better than an overhaul and something fresh when you leave the salon!
Getting something you will love can be like shopping blindfolded and you need to be a bit more mindful of change and the ramifications certain things will cause. Going from dark brown hair getting pastel pink is far from being low Maintainence but can be fun for sure!
Doesn’t matter if we are talking hair color or haircut it’s always a great idea to have 3 or 4 reference images ready so you and your hairstylist are on the same page. Describing a color can be hard but showing a photo it’s easier to ensure it’s understood.
So why wait, since the New Year has just begun get yourself on the right path now and set your own mood for 2022
Well it’s been a while honestly hasn’t felt like much to chat about I guess that’s for everyone, conversations are all about you know what!
With the rise in “you know what” we are now only open on Odd days, which is rather fitting. Rest of restrictions are the same as they have always been for us. Only one person per booking in salon, no friends or cling ons allowed and maximum 2 clients at a time. Masks the entire time and must be on time.
Till next time be safe and as always Dm for bookings on Instagram
We talk a lot about going grey, so many people have the impression that only older people go grey. The reality is grey hair can happen at any age and is vastly caused by your DNA and stress but predominately DNA. Grey or white hair is not a bad thing in fact it can look amazing with the right care and cut.
Maintaining an artificial color, the one you had years ago is not only not natural or flattering it is time consuming, costly and quite frankly annoying. You end up planning your life around your 2-3 week visits to the salon to cover the regrowth and your freedom and independence in completely reliant on the amount of white hair is visible.
The darker you color it, the faster you see it grow out and there are several ways to grow it out but if you want to simply stop you may be in shock to the stark contrast and typically 3-4 months later the white hair and the dark color could be too much. Rather than give up maybe low lights is the answer to soften the white like below
So if you want to grow out your hair color and tired of constantly getting colors give us a call and we can help you plan it confidently.
Creating good hair habits is like anything, it may take a little longer to break old habits but once you persist it will be worth it!
If you want to wash and wear your hair or even if you are blowing it out, the best thing you can do once out of the shower is not cause aggravation to the cuticle. Rubbing with a towel or twisting it up in a tight towel vertically is in fact not going to leave you with beautiful hair that’s frizz free once it’s taken out that’s for sure!
Grab an old T-shirt or someone else’s-in the house that’s soft and wrap your hair flat in that. For sure it will soak more moisture out of your hair plus not cause your cuticle to be open. It’s more gentle on the hair and will help your natural texture to be the best it can be!
So before you continue your old ways try this out!
If you are like a lot of people you possibly have no idea which face shape you have and what is the perfect hairstyle for you! Don’t panic help us here, it’s not fool proof however this should give you a guide to get closer to what will work for you and your unique face. There are other factors apart from just face shape you need to think about like the Hair color or getting some Face framing color can alter the illusion of the shape of the face.
Now whilst an oval face is open to almost any hairstyle we all need to be aware of other factors, like facial hair and hairlines. If you have an oval or rectangular face-shape and a high hairline this is NOT the haircut for you!
You might be saying, who on earth would wear hair like this, well this is possibly the most common asked for haircut. It makes the front of your head look stretched out, your forehead look 37% bigger and suddenly your nose looks abnormally longer. Add a little growth on your chin and now you look completely face tuned!
Getting the right advice and walking through options from a professional is the best way to make sure you know what you are doing. No one has a bad shape head, it maybe just a few small changes to your hair that make all the difference. Could be fading the hairline in at the back so your neck doesn’t look fat or adding slight sideburns on to add width to a round face.

It’s been a hot minute since perming was a thing, in fact a Luke warm few minutes actually! After the last few years we have had almost everyone wants less fuss and a more wash and go lifestyle compared to the high Maintainence lifestyle a lot of us had.
Curl can differ depending on what you desire, can be a controlled curl or a very natural movement you are after. It all depends on you but one thing is for sure, it’s a complete change to what you have now!
With little maintenance and minimal damage if any ( if done correctly ) it’s a really fun way to change things up.
We now do Perming!
So if you have always wanted curls then you now can have them!
Let just be honest, more than a few of you would see white hair and think age, yet more and more people are going grey ( or white ) younger than ever.
It makes no sense that the color of your hair dictates anything in your life, it’s as crazy as saying you need to dress “age appropriate” it’s stupid!
Going white is a choice, if you are ok with it, do it! If you aren’t ready for it color it! It’s really that simple. Do not be ashamed of it, it’s you and you have so much more to you than the color of your hair!
Everything in life revolves around having clear communication, doesn’t matter if we are talking about business, relationships or getting your hair done. If communication is clear then you are setting yourself up for success. One of the biggest problems we have seen is lack of communication and both parties being on the same page.
Hair is completely different for every single person, texture, density and movement along with your current filters of what long, short, natural, big, small is it all depends on you. Along with the fact that everyone has a different version of life, one word can mean so many things.
Having an in-depth consultation prior to making big decisions can be the difference between ok and super happy with your hair! Thank
For some, the thought of Instagram being complete reality and for some people everything in life is easy is typically far from reality!
So with constant influx of our time being on line we tend to end up believing what we see and that’s our reality when in fact it’s not. Perspective from a different angle life can look completely different. Not better or worse, just different.
Now when it comes to hair it is a jungle of filters and effects to help make the Color un achievable so all the followers aspire to have hair the same and not be able to achieve it. Almost like they are the only ones who can get it. When in reality it’s simply a filter.
So it’s important to remember to put things into perspective and have realistic expectations of yourself and your life. Don’t believe everything you see!
Nothing screams “home alone” more than a cropped fringe that’s let’s just say a tad uneven or lop sided. But the feeling of doing something new and different is obviously a rush especially right now! Will it suit you, will you regret it, will it be hard to manage? So many questions but if you put it into perspective, it’s hair and it grows back!
The last 18 months life has changed and we have all taken a long hard look at who we are, what we do and who we want to be. We have seen a dramatic increase in people growing colors out, grey hair is now cool!
Actually it always was but a lot of us had a very warped impression we should all look the same no matter what our age was or no matter what your natural color was. The upkeep on coloring white hair dark is out of control, seeing some people doing it every week so no one would notice that in fact you are 90% white.
Imagine not being able to go away for 2 weeks anywhere in the world without worrying about where you would get your color touched up!? The dark color would make the light natural color look terribly obvious and constantly checking the mirror to see if it’s obvious or not.
Time has come for a more low Maintainence hair color that gives you freedom! Sure it isn’t easy to get you over the hump of looking like a neglected human but once you do it’s worth the pain!
Sunday is Off Day, it’s a day to reflect, a day to spend quality time with the people you care about and a day to catch up. Well that’s typically been the theory. Work like crazy and in 12 hours once a week “catch up”!
More and more people are coming to terms with that fact life has to be more about doing what you love, being with the people you want to be with than it is about making it through the week!
As the world goes in and out of lockdown I guess we are all reflecting on life, what we are doing that we love and what we are doing that we really don’t love. If you could do whatever you wanted, what would it be? Where would you be right now?
For some the answer is, exactly where you are and that’s great but for many it’s completely different. Everything from the clothes your wearing to the job your slaving too should be by choice. The hairstyle you have to how you style it or don’t style it!
Sunday hair is a look all by itself! Here is some Inspiration.
If your hair isn’t working then it’s time to get it looked at. It should maintain its shape well but the structure of a haircut will only last 6-8 weeks then it simply won’t work as well. Enjoy your Off Day
If you are wondering what we are talking about, chances you are not on TikTok or have been isolated a little too long. The Wolf haircut is essentially a shag, with a more wispy edge to it. Can be worn long or short and bangs or no bangs, low Maintainence and when cut correctly requires little to no styling!
Let’s be honest, we all now want little effort easy hair that’s cool but seriously don’t want to put the effort in and that’s ok. Products to use for this look would be either a texturising mousse or a styling dust on dry hair to give the desired texture!
Here are some Wolf cuts to get you thinking about your next haircut
So if your done with blowouts and desperately want change this could be your next look!
Well calm down no one is asking you to get naked, lay on a couch with pearls and be painted.
The French Bob is possibly the latest craze in the urge to become low Maintainence with our hair! Since it’s a constant fear of either a lockdown or an outbreak we all want to be best prepared and still look fresh and in fashion.
Lending itself to ease of styling it simply doesn’t demand anything g from you if it’s cut properly other than wash and go. Using the natural movement the hair has it looks hot left to dry natural or can look super sleek blown out and styled.
If you can’t go to France, then maybe it’s time to get a fresh new look!
Don’t know what you all need but 2021 has certainly turned belly up early, nothing much happening and getting excited is all about what to eat and thats about it. Well maybe just like the many others doing it there is a way to get excited! Get yourself a fresh haircut!
From short to barely seen the options for guys when it comes to short hair is endless and let’s face it, in this heat who wants to be stressed about your hair anyway!
Originally a Military haircut is the “High & Tight” or the Skin fade what it’s called now is the ultimate low Maintainence haircut. Depending on how short you cut the top, you can almost certainly ditch the hair products or at the very least use little!
Honestly with everything being so uncertain, we don’t understand why you are still reading this and not getting a haircut!
Firstly let’s start with the fact that this is a major trigger for any professional hairstylist. Color that’s in a box has a number yet majority of the time is rarely that simple in a salon.
Remember the last time you went out snd had the most delicious pasta? It literally was the best thing you had eaten in a long time, wait see the photo and we know your hungry now!
You decided to ask the chef who had spent 12 years travelling throughout Italy to learn the regional cooking, he put himself through culinary school snd worked part time till 3am 4 nights a week to pay rent, food and expenses. You decide to ask him to sketch down then recipe because honestly you love it but the restaurant is too far to come frequently. Imagine after years and years training to just hand it out? Would it be the same even if he did? Unlikely but who know. Your version of boil, your version of lightly pan fry and his are almost certainly not going to be close!
Even if he did hand write it out, chances are your interpretation and his are completely different and the result wouldn’t resemble what you ate. I hope this makes sense.
Let’s look at it a different way, your salon stylist says he using a base 5. He has told you that after a heated discussion with him that you want 5 but also want it light. He told you he uses a 5 but in fact used 1/2-5 1/2-6. He uses one brand and you go to another salon that uses another brand, you think every competitor hair color company has the same system, result or numbering? No they don’t not even close.
A 5 in one brand may be a 6 in another and as far as the differences this is just the beginning. You can’t start coloring your hair at 30 and still be using the same color for the next 15-20 years it just doesn’t work like that. Every-time small changes need to happen as the hair changes constantly. Hairdressing is about an ongoing learning and just like the Chef requires years of training, education and investment from ourselves to make us better constantly.
We attend training most often than not self funded in our own time, our scissors are typically work several weeks salary which we buy ourselves. Then when mixing colors we consider ourselves artists and often use 3 or up to 5 different colors to create your “number 5” so forgive us if we don’t tell you because we know that with our years of education, the practical experience it sadly doesn’t come down to a “number 5”
A box color might cover your grey sure, it may also be next to impossible to lighten on your next visit and end up taking months or years to bring it back to what you love so no, we won’t play that game.
It’s not because we don’t want to loose the business, it’s because we know that it won’t work out how you expect so it’s better for you to make the decision not us. A solid, professionally trained hairstylist can match up a color fairly easy after a proper consultation taking into consideration fading etc.
So before you ask us, hey what number did you use on me last time remember we don’t use box color, that’s from the chemist.
Important note, your version of light brown is completely different to ours, your version of ash is most certainly different to ours. It’s important to note that a recipe is only as good as the understanding of the person reading it.
You might have spent years studying, thousands of dollars on the latest clothes but if your hair doesn’t have purpose then all that money and effort has gone to waste. It’s true guys tend to be lazy when it comes to basic things like hair whilst at the same time ( in a parallel universe ) be completely obsessed over a game where a ball gets kick from side to side. Go figure!
So if you have had something that works for you, that’s great but doesn’t mean you need to keep doing the same thing for the rest of your life!
Here are some hair styles that you can put on your to-do list and help you evolve your look!
So the options are endless giving you so many opportunities to stand out and be constantly evolving your look. Hair doesn’t have to be boring guys!
Holi is a festival that celebrates life and all the color in it! Yes it can be invasive to say the least, if you are all dressed up, hair done and head on then expect some random person to think its ok to throw coloured powder or water on you regardlessly!
Now whilst if you choose to play this game, or celebrate it could be fun however if you have just had your hair done it can be a disaster that will take weeks or months to fix or it may not even be able to be!
Now a lot reading this will say there are safe colors, ones that wash out easily and yet even after experiencing this time for the last 10 years have never seen them in action. The vast majority are not designed for light hair, so whilst it may be “natural” it may still permanently stain your Sandy blonde hair pink! The reality is the lighter your hair the more the staining will occur, so yes if you have black or dark hair you will not see the pink powder in your hair only maybe on your skin for a few days until you scrub it off!
Imagine you have spent good money getting your color done and a few hours in the Salon and finally your loving your hair only to get it ruined by a random stranger throwing coloured powder on you? How can you prevent it?
Reality would be to stay inside but if thats not an option we suggest the following
• Don’t wash your hair for 2 days prior
• Load up your hair with a wax or paste before heading out, this will help give it a slight protection
• Cover with a scarf and tie it tightly, making sure that the ends are undercover also
• Hairspray over it will also prevent staining to some extent
All of this is not 100% however it may help somewhat but obviously being out of that situation is better than anything listed here!
After the day is over and you are back home, use a clarifying shampoo on DAMP hair not wet, wash it 3 times to remove the color and condition.
Obviously it would be a great thing if people respected other people and did not throw random color on people, however until then being cautious is always better!
If you have been stained and its risking ruining your mojo then give us a call and lets have a look at it to see what can be done!
If there was ever a moment in time that getting a haircut that was zero maintenance it’s most definitely now!with work from home being the normal it’s a stretch to think of spending time doing your hair when most likely you aren’t even showing your face on zoom calls anyway.
Creating the right texture in the cut to utilise your natural flow of the hair can literally change the way the hair sits! Now sure it’s not like you can make straight hair curly but it’s about making the best of what you have. It may be a certain shape and length would work better snd encourage the hair to behave better. It may mean creating texture by adding less weight or more in certain areas.
Handy hint or word of advice would be stop touching your hair so much, typically when you try too much you end up creating frizz or the wrong movement and the structure goes for a toss! Use the right products and apply them gently rather than brushing or combing your hair too much.
It starts with getting the right haircut which will be the foundation to getting a wash and go look!
In the last 12 months we have all changed and whilst we can never go back to the way things were, we have to adjust and evolve. However we have to look after ourselves and the way we feel more now than ever. If you feel good, you have extra energy and a better attitude!
So while things used to be very different we have to find ways to make the current situation work in our favour and to be the best version of you possible. It could mean buying yourself a new top or simply blow drying your hair, whatever works for you.
If you feel like it’s time to get yourself out of the funky mood that has clouded over you for the last 12 months maybe a fresh haircut would do the trick!
It’s true that men’s hair doesn’t drastically shift from year to year or season to season. We had the “grow it long at the top” moment that lasted longer than most people’s foreheads doing the elevated quiff and thank god it’s now reduced to a few rather than everyone.
Now given that most of us are still wearing masks it makes sense that the sides are kept short otherwise it can get annoying. Short fades are still in and super easy but we are seeing less length on the top so styles have moved into super low Maintainence.
So given that 2021 is more about your happiness and making your life easier. Do whatever makes you happy!
First you see it on a celebrity, next a friend and you start to think maybe it would look good on you. A few weeks later random people on social media are wearing it now it’s spreading faster than bad news!
By now you know you must try it, but will it look the same on you? Will it look as good?
Everyone is different and while some trends are universal whike other depend on the individuality of the person.
With hair trends not everyone suits white platinum blonde hair nor everyone can achieve it. Hair texture condition and history is very different so it’s not always achievable nor desirable. Get a consultation before you decide that balayagè or a pastel color is right for you!
Colouring hair is as much about selection and current state of the canvas as it is about placement. The art of doing less for more impact is smart and essential if you want to have healthy hair. Shadow coloring is about placement of color to help other colors pop. Can be that you want to go lighter or it’s too gold so adding a darker ash element helps give the illusion that the existing color is lighter and not gold.
If you have an off white wall beside a white wall suddenly the off white wall looks very off white. Now put the off white wall beside a dark brown or black wall suddenly it looks completely white. It’s an illusion but it works every time! Same concept with hair, to get the blonde to look blonde
Balayagè started out as a merging of colors that blend rather than a overall lightening effect. You can vary the density of color however it you want low Maintainence then for darker tones naturally it’s best to limit the exposure.
Now shadowing color on the roots or smudging blends the root color ( your natural color ) through to give you a blended tone change from roots to ends and can be done to correct or blend a regrowth or to help grow out your color. If you want to grow out a solid color whilst still using the color on the mid lengths and ends this is a great way to do it!
So before getting balayagè check the variations as there are many but most of all make sure you know if you want solid or a more broken up result.
We have been overwhelmed with the amount of people who are tired of covering the grey or “ white” hair and honestly we love it! Imagine all the free time and extra money you will save! The thought of not having to plan your life around regrowth.
Once you have decided, now the hard part of actually managing and navigating your way out in a way that leaves you feeling human. It can be confusing and you will most likely get conflicting advice so expect it. There is no easy way that won’t leave you question your decision several times so it’s important you are strong. A lot of times, white hair or natural hair is more flattering than a blanket coverage!
It’s a long journey if you have length, especially if you have a darker color, the contrast can be huge and you will be tempted to fall but don’t!
Here are a few ways to help you through the transition
If you have just started it’s ok there are things you can do now to help the process. Depending on how dark you have been colouring it as to what needs to be done but for argument sake imagine it’s 80% white and you have been colouring it brown or dark brown.
Within a few weeks you will be hit with white roots so if you wanted to lighten the overall hair now is the time to do it. If you wait and try to do this later you will end up with not as clean of a canvas, better to lighten the ends or darker hair now slightly (1-2 shades not more )
Now the next step can be either simply leaving it grow out or transitioning with color. How it’s done with color is by continually coloring the regrowth, slightly lighter each time ( 1/4-1/2 shade ) and have it translucent rather than a solid coverage. Once you get used to seeing the white hair stained the next step of seeing it natural won’t be so stark!
Be warned that along the way someone will say get some lowlights. Now tgis may be a hood idea for you and that depends from person to person but if you are planning on growing it out, doing another process at the roots that you ultimately have to grow out too is counter productive.
Remember match the tone, white hair looks grey, it’s white! It gives an ash look so the color on the ends needs to be ash or it will have too much contrast with the roots.
Good luck and if you need help, feel free to reach out to us.
A lot has made us change habits and for some we were already doing some of the things we all know expect and love. Having to pick up the phone or wait until certain hours to interact with a business is something honestly not many want to do nor really have too any more. Not sure about you but I want to be able to do what I want almost 24 hours a day!
Now before you slide us a DM at 3am expecting a reply I can assure you, it’s most likely coming until the sun comes up. However chances are in daylight or the early hours of both night and day, you will in fact not only get a reply but in most cases be able to make bookings. Yes I know right, it’s crazy. Whilst we are still waiting back from a DM last October from a restaurant wanting to know if they do take away, I guess it’s easier to get a haircut than it is to order food online.
So if you have a burning question, a sudden need to book your color, or simply want to drop by and say hi then do use either Instagram or email and book your next appointment.
Firstly this is not a shaming post, it’s simply to help understand what layers are. Layered hair is when the top hair is shorter than the hair that is closest to the floor, it’s that simple. You can have long layers, short layers or uniform layers.
The longer the hair, the longer the layers need to be to maintain bulk on the ends and avoid it looking thin. If it’s too bulky on the ends then the layers can be slightly shorter or even sliced into. You can not count layers!
A common mistake is the thirst for fullness and love for length. Whilst while styling you can try to encourage both if the weight of the hair is heavy the length will no doubt weigh it down. Cutting the layers short when the hair is long will look odd and give it a look that there is two haircuts happening.
Seemless layering gives movement and helps build volume and the length of your hair and the density determines how short the layers can be for it to work!
A good rule of thumb is the shortest layers need to be 1/2-3/4 of the overall length. Need help? Let us know
Come on, a tropical holiday is highly unlikely and possibly not safe this year anyway but you ended up with socks and now you are feeling a tinny bit unloved. The fact you are reading this means you have a lot to be thankful for but….
Don’t worry the entire planet feels your pain but there is hope, whilst we can’t gift you anything other than a fresh look, you will feel better! Why are you sitting around feeling sorry for yourself, give us a call we are open throughout the holiday season.
Chances are you saved up for the color of your dreams and spent hours sitting in the salon and you have finally made it! Now how long will it last?
The farther away from your natural color you go the faster you will see the roots growing out. Often the following day from going platinum blonde you will see your dark roots already visible 24 hours later. With white hair ( grey ) that you are coloring you will see them the same way in 24 hours. Hair is continuously growing so the roots will appear no matter what you do.
The closer to your natural color you keep it in depth and tone the less Maintainence you will have.
Always discuss your ideal hair color with your hairstylist so there is no surprises.
With everyone’s anxiety levels higher than ever it’s no wonder we are all putting off living. Making the simplest decisions suddenly have become a decision based on safety. We get it! The last thing anyone wants to do is be in a crowded space indoors!

If you want to come in alone and be the only person in the salon, obviously the person cutting your hair, let us know as this is available by prior appointment also. Limited slots daily and can be done early in the day.
At the end of the day we know how you feel because we feel it too and no matter what requests you have to feel better we are happy to take them on board. The main purpose is delivering beautiful hair, making you feel good in the safest possible environment for all.
Simply call us on 01141010011 or Dm us on social media.
There is always a lot of talk about things you can do yourself at home to make sure your hair is healthy. It’s hard to know what to believe or not to believe.
When it comes to a cold rinse, it does help soothe the cuticle and reduce the swelling of the hair marginally. Warm water swells the hair and is obviously more comfortable to shower in than cold water. Even the thought of a cold rinse is making us get chills. Will it help with the frizz, well yes slightly.
It’s possibly not worth the risk of catching a cold during winter so you can skip it. What you may want to adapt and try is after your blowout on each section blasting it with cool air, this does the same thing but also sets the hair the way you want it. It’s hot or warm air that dries it and the cool air in fact sets it!
Finding out what you want is never as easy as asking “ what do you want” it’s always a lot more than what’s on the surface. A lot of people underestimate communication snd it can destroy economies, marriages and certainly be the difference between an horrific salon experience and one that you love!
Short to you is one thing, short to us is another and whilst you may not want a bleech used it would all be a belief based on the past or your understanding on what it does. Having someone explain the what why and how of you achieving something always helps. It may be right you shouldn’t do it, it may be also the only way you will ever love the look. Ask the right questions and you will get the good answers.
It’s true hairdressers talk a lot but in our own defence it’s because we know that’s how we find out the information we need to be able to make you love your hair.
Consultations are always free and it’s about finding out what you want and how to get it including pros and cons and price together with options.
Ever had an important meeting or function and the grey hair is poking out making you feel a little old? Hair mascara can be used ( typically ) but if it’s hot or you are under lights, add a little perspiration and…..
So before you try this and end up being the laughing stock of the planet, plan ahead and get your color done!
Moral of the story is, mistakes happen to everyone even Donald Trumps lawyer! Also don’t try to cut corners to save time, do it right the first time
No secret that 2020 has had its challenges and if we are honest Hair isn’t the worst thing that has or could have happened. But now it’s become aware that some instead of growing length, it’s reducing. We have in the last few months seen more amount of hair than ever, some going from long to short, dramatic changes and some holding on to death life the length they have.
Split ends happen for a few reasons, excessive heat when styling, over processed chemical treatments, blunt scissors when you last had it cut, lack of regular trims.
The ends split as the centre hair structure is left exposed and is prone to being damaged over time. If it’s regularly trimmed then any fragile ends are removed and giving it a fresh lease of life!
Can you remove split ends with product? NO
The only thing that removes a split end is a pair of scissors, your hair should be trimmed regardless of what your hair goal is, every 6-8 weeks. If not you could end up with multiple splits which will eventually break off and you will end up loosing length not gaining it. The split keeps travelling up the hair shaft until it breaks off, then a new one appears and so you end up with shorter hair over time!
You have heard of high Maintainence people but can you imagine spending this much on your hair?
It has to be made up for sure right? This urban myth is actually a reality for a select few and the surprising break up will shock you and wonder why you have been doing your hair in salons like you have been!
So how can anyone spend that much a month on hair?
Here is the breakup
Accommodation $ 734
Hair color 3 times $927
Haircuts twice $320
That is without charging for the 4am boarding charter flights or the 1am touch up’s before heading home for the day! So plus between 60-120% on outcall rates then add additional hours whilst the hairstylist is outside the salon.
Sure sounds fancy but when you consider the actual hair cost is fairly low, so if you own a hotel and have a private plane then it’s really a nominal amount that can keep you locked up inside your home and get everyone to come to you!
Not sure about you guys but we are ok to head to the salon whenever there is time, also happy to wait until when appointments are available.
If you think it’s just a few that live like this, you are grossly misinformed! This is not a privilege of rare few celebrities it is in fact more common that you think.
A lots changed in 2020 since Corona has come to visit so we adjusted our opening hours as follows
Monday – Saturday 10am – 6pm
Closed on Sundays & Mondays
No walk in’s at the moment you need to pre book. If you have made a booking we request you keep to that time as limited number of people allowed in the salon at any given time so timmings are critical to keep things running smooth. Late arrivals may result in rescheduling your booking.
For bookings you can DM us on social media any time or give the salon a call directly on 01141010011
The term “hair loss” is such a subjective term and brings up all kinds of thoughts and emotions. Having hair fall out is part of the cycle of hair growth and can not be stopped all together. Every human will have approximately 100 hairs fall out a day as it’s come to the end of the growth cycle ( known as the Telogen phase )
To understand this better there are three stages of hair growth, anagen, catagen and the final stage telogen begore it all starts again called Exogen stage or the resting stage begore new hair appears.
The Anagen stage is where the hair grows and this stage typically lasts anywhere from 2-7 years depending on your body and make up. Then the Catagen stage which lasts around 10 days where the hair follicle shrinks and detached from the papilla or root. Then comes the resting stage called Telogen where the hair sits while the new hair develops and pushes out the old hair and the cycle repeats.
Stay with me, it will all make sense!
With the entire world on lockdown and the threat of being infected with corona virus, jobs lost, employment uncertainty and the stress of family and friends and all of our future our body is producing more Cortisol ( also known as the stress hormone or the fight or flight hormone ) which in turn pushes the hair into the Telogen stage faster than it would normally. The increase production of this hormone also gives us less quality sleep, mood swings, muscle soreness, less flexibility, rapid weight gain, high blood pressure and a flushed face!
All in all the thought that the stress is making your hair fall out is in fact partly true! The best way to deal with this is to manage your stress levels, good nutrition, realistic and consistent sleep patterns, meditation and in extreme situations you may need to seek medical assistance. Also please see Other reasons you could be having excessive hair fall
It’s been a lot to take in and we still need to all get through the other side, so chill and do what you can and don’t stress for what you can’t do.
Our hair holds a lot of weight in emotional value and it’s not a new thought. For years after a breakup or sudden trauma a lot turn to a drastic change to help deal with things and can often be looked at like you are loosing your mind but has a huge relief for most.
Famously Britney Spears back in 2007 walked into a salon in the middle of a divorce and struggling with many personal demons and shaved her hair off. Some would say it’s extreme while others look at it as incredibly liberating. Whilst some psychologist like Rebecca Newman based in Philadelphia says it gives you an immediate boost of Oxytocin which is more commonly known as the “cuddle hormone” which is released by the pituitary gland. This hormone immediately makes you feel good and is similar to a good hug, a romp in the sack or the feeling of love.
We have seen over the years men and woman coming in after a personal trauma getting a drastic new look and loving it months later but at times we talk in-depth about the decision and find that it may need some more thought and a day or two for the to be sure.
In varies movies after a tragedy or trauma many will go drastic to shed the outer self and create a stronger exterior like Jodie Foster in “The Accused” or Deb from the the 1995 “Empire” shaves her head to be seen and become visible. It’s a very personal experience with everyone wanting to do it for various reasons.
So far 2020 has been anything but relaxing we have all had a lot of trauma and stress no matter how you look at it or who you are so increased hairfall is incredibly common right now along with a lot of people taking the opportunity to change the way they look. After all why not!
It doesn’t have to be a break up, a tragedy or something specific but it’s important to get the right advice and have your hairstylist get you in the right headspace to create something you love and won’t be wanting to grow out moments after you leave the salon!
Very few are taking holidays and let’s face it, the thought of heading away sounds great, it also sounds traumatic! Get your dose of OXYTOCIN free with every haircut
The task of going from dark to pastel colors is one that is shadowed in mystery and hidden agenda. We have tried to make things straight forward for you so taking the decision more informed.
Firstly it’s not a “quick” process nor is it cheap but we will tell you it can be stunning if done right! Going platinum is not a quick task and can take Months
Our co founder Merrylin wanted a pink egirl fade so we took the challenge. Her hair hadn’t been coloured for years so it was completely natural.
We only did two sections from the top of the ear to the corner of her bangs. It was lightened from roots to ends for approx 35 min, rinsed and dried then re applied leaving our roots for another 30 minutes. We then wanted to let the hair rest for a few days and the swelling on the cuticle layer to subside.
The condition was great so we toned it lightly adding a soft ash gold to take the raw look off it. The few days rest would ensure the hair is not going to be damaged.
But we want to have a pastel color so we need to remove all the warmth out of the hair, putting the pink over it begore the toner above would not have given us a clean color. Fading the pink to white would have been a fairy tale. So away we went after 3 days and re lightened it leaving out the roots for another 30 minutes. We rinsed blast dried it and applied the pink fade and here is the result.
The pink is intense and the roots and fades towards the ends and we think it looks hot! Maintenance is simply refreshing the pink every 10-12 washes and the blonde will grow out which will add to the effect and most likely we won’t do. Let’s see!
For many around the world, the idea of working from home sounds great but completely useless if you are in the service industry, there appears like not a lot you can do from home. It’s a great time to get fit, learn something online or think of ways to pivot your business for the future.
We are blessed to meet some people who have used this time to actually start businesses and are booming! We had one client who has started an Indian snack business and has now 20 staff and small factory, a friend launched a healthy smoothie bowl business and is booming now. The stories are widespread and teaches us to think outside the box. There are opportunities right now that most can’t be bothered or simply don’t know how too take advantage of.
I know boredom and anxiety set in from day one for most including us, the thought of indefinite lockdown was daunting. Eleven weeks indoors in the end with restriction of movement limited to buying food and that’s it. We spent hours every day creating content for our website that was relevant for now and maintained interaction with our clients via Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp.
We had 321% increase in web traffic which in return we all know that means more business, more visibility and entertained us at the same time. Two months later we have maintained the traction and have inevitably changed the course of our business. through smart planning and a little research a lot things can be done or learnt in your underwear from the couch, bed or in front of the TV
Before you find excuses look for solutions and a way to make the current situation a positive. If you need help or ideas reach out to a friend or a company and ask for help, now is not the time to watch re-runs of friends or your favourite 90’s sitcoms.
You want a haircut and you want it done right so who do you choose? The ones that claim to be the best? The biggest? The most luxurious salon in Delhi? Do you choose the salon that has the most locations? The one that has the most services? The salon that has the most celebrity clients?
Let’s be honest, it’s not that easy. It’s a matter of finding a salon & stylist that gets you, understands the language you speak, your ideas and your vision for your hair and you can talk freely with. It’s not about the awards, it’s not about how many “outlets” they have or the celebrity clients, it never has been! It’s about the personal skills along with the technical skills. You need both, not just one.
The best way to find that salon is start with the internet, look at the website and see if it’s about selling multiple services, packages, discounts or if it’s about hair, styles new ideas thoughts colors etc. you will instantly get the vibe if it’s for you or not!
Getting the right hairstyle for you that works is all about getting the right information and making the right choices. Then obviously getting the right professional to execute it. Your Faceshape is unique and perfect so stop searching for ways to change it, it’s a matter of creating the right shape, texture and color for you.
From colouring certain sections lighter or darker you can change the appearance of your face or take attention away from an area you don’t overly like. Changing something like the part changes how the eye views the overall image. It’s not about deception, it’s about creating the right illusion that best fits you!
Now whilst this is not foolproof and combination face shapes are not only possibly but are very likely on most people. If in doubt as to what works and what could enhance your overall look, book yourself in for a consultation with us.
With not a lot going on socially we have all had time to think of a color or a look that we want, possibly even filling up our saved images on Instagram. It’s a good time to reflect and refine what works, what doesn’t and how much effort you honestly want to put into Maintainence.
Hair color can be high maintenance but it can be done so it’s incredibly low Maintainence too. Getting it right can be tricky depending on your expectations and since you have time on your hands it might be a good idea to check out the options.
A solid color grows out with a solid regrowth, making it obvious you color your hair even after a week in some cases days depending on your natural color and the color you do.
Now balayagè can be high Maintainence too if you not carful, options are amazing but again depending on how often you want to keep visiting the salon and your budget it can be overwhelming.
A blended version that is low Maintainence leaves you regrowth free and able to not worry about your hair for months, other than your regular 6-8 week trims and is super sexy.
So if you think you’re up for a change why not do it!
Yes to make life easier we have started consultations via FaceTime or WhatsApp. So if you are unsure about what to do with your hair without having to come in and have a lengthy conversation about it, considering the anxiety behind stepping out maybe this is ideal time to discuss your next color or cut whilst sitting at home.
Trouble knowing what’s right but you’re bored then getting advise without stepping out of the house!
Give us a call on 01141010011 and we can schedule a consultation with you!
Appointments and times vary depending on availability.
Well this year has been one for the books that’s for sure! whilst we have all had time to reflect and let’s be honest there are better things to do that spend useless time in the bathroom pushing and pulling your hair into place. We believe Hair should compliment your overall look and lifestyle not over consume you.
How do you get your hair to be more natural? Well it all starts with the right cut, creating texture or encouraging the right ease of movement happens with the cut. Creating the right texture to enhance and control the curl or movement of the hair happens when you cut it.
What products should you use? Well ideally very few, if the cut is correct for your hair then very little product is needed. Saying that a little help can go a long way, a leave in serum, a moisturiser may be all that is needed depending on your hair.
What is a low maintenance hair color? Balayagè is perfect for super low Maintainence and ease of growing out, blended and only 3-4 shade variation is perfect.
If you have high maintenance hair and are over it, book yourself in and tell us what you currently do and what you would ideally want to do and we can create something that works specifically for your hair and lifestyle.
So the rain is here, well kind of once it makes up it’s mind and the humidity has kicked in. Time for your sexy crisp curl to go for a toss and hello to frizz!
Well let’s try and help, some know these already and some may not so hope they help!
#1 DON’T DO
Don’t brush your hair dry, comb with a wide tooth comb with your conditioner in then don’t brush it or comb it again. It will cause electricity build up in the hair, creating static and frizz!
#2 DON’T DO
Avoid any product with alcohol in it, typically setting products like gels or mouse was the alcohol dehydrates the hair.
#3 DON’T DO
Don’t get out of the shower and shake your head like a German Shepard, it’s only going to make it go crazy frizzy, once the conditioner is rinsed off you need to handle with care, pat dry don’t rub or shake at all! Do not put your head upside down and shake it.
#4 DON’T DO
Don’t put oil on your hair or scalp, oil and water don’t mix so no matter what you will be left with a residue which will amplify heat causing your hair to look shinny but in fact become frizzy and brittle. Use water soluable products, your hair is craving moisture
#5 DON’T DO
Don’t skip appointments to get your hair trimmed, you should be trimming it every 6-8 weeks to remove split ends.
What is a safe distance and how can we get back to normal when it seems like it’s out of control? You are not alone, we all have a fear of being around others let alone sitting or being amongst a crowd!
While we don’t have this dreamlike aesthetic we limited the people that are allowed into our space so no one feels like anyone else is there. We have a limit of two people at any time but offer one at a time ( subject to availability on request ) to ensure you feel comfortable while getting your hair done.
Let’s all be safe, no mask no entry and it must stay on 100% of the time in the salon. If you want to take a selfie please do it with the mask on 😷 the main goal is to get your hair done safely for everyone so you look and feel more normal.
We reduced our opening hours to Tuesday – Saturday 10-5pm so please call or DM for bookings as no walk in bookings are entertained.
You are all too busy to live, we have heard all the horror stories about the new work mode a lot of you are doing to survive. It’s hard, whilst on one hand we need to work harder than ever and yet on the other hand we need to look after ourselves more than we ever have!
Putting your hair up in a topknot doesn’t count as self care, it’s a time saver for sure and l guess but it doesn’t help you look or feel good about yourself. It’s a struggle to make time to shampoo conditioner and even to attempt a blow out is almost out of the question.
A quick fix which may help is washing your hair and putting it up damp, comb through with a wide tooth comb apply one or two drops of serum and a leave in moisturiser (if needed) twist it up and tie it off with band once the calls are over or later in the day take it out and you will have a soft bend texture which can make you feel more you.
Another option is doing the same thing but braiding it and letting it dry with the braids.
Right now the thought of sitting in a salon to make your hair look good seems useless and to be honest a tad odd. We have never had a weekly blowout culture nor have been involved in producing work that needs a lot of effort to style. It’s just not realistic today to think that anyone has time to sit and get a blow out every few days.
The cut is the framework that will support the shape. It’s not just cutting it dry it goes well beyond that, the direction of the blade when cutting to the angle the blade enters the hair to the tension the hair is held. Creating or encouraging movement that minimises time spend in front of the mirror is what we believe is beautiful hair.
We reopened on the 3rd June after being closed for 11 weeks, various amount of apprehension which is normal and did various run through scenario’s on hygiene until we all were happy and felt safe, for both the team as well as the clients.
We have only maximum of two clients in the salon at any time, with a sanitize break to ensure proper swab down of all touch points, no cash only card with no one touching your card or machine, it’s covered each time in cling film and sprayed down. If you wish to be the only person in the salon please request that when booking and we will do our best to offer you a suitable time for that, however these slots are limited.
No drinks, coffee or food allowed in the salon and no one to enter unless you are getting your hair done. The front door is locked and upon arrival ( as long as it is the set time ) we let you in, check temperature, sanitise your hands and drop any bags at reception. We temperature check everyone including our team before entry.
We are not doing blow dry’s because it pushes the air around in the salon too much and whilst we are a safe zone, we feel safer not risking any element of infection. For colors we provide disposable face masks which can be changed prior to entering or in the washroom.
We limit any small talk face to face ( even with mask on ) and consult from over 1.5 metres away and all changes in hairstyle we request to connect on FaceTime prior to your appointment so we can chat and see your face without a mask while you are at home.
Yes it’s a lot to take in, we know but safety of our team and you is paramount and if we have to change down a gear or two and be extra careful then that’s what we all must do. If you have any request or question please don’t hesitate to ask as we all know it’s a stressful time.
We do look forward to seeing you and apart from fresh hair it fills our heart to see you and help you feel fresh and happy ❤️
Ok so let’s be honest it’s hardly the time to wonder the streets, go window shopping or go sit in a salon for hours on end without a certain level of stress and anxiety kicking in. We know that and want to spell out a few things to put your mind at rest.
Firstly we are not blow drying currently due to the air getting pushed all throughout the salon and disturbing air flow ( makes sense ) so right there you cut 10-15 minutes off your “in salon” time. Consultations for changes are done over the phone or via video prior to you coming in so there is less talk more action once you get here.
There is always small talk and catch up that we need because we have been part of your life and quite frankly we have been dying to know what happened to your cousin who was dating her bosses ex father in law. Don’t worry we will make time for that, we are multi skilled.
We have limited people in the salon at any moment with the door locked so there is zero distractions and it’s a safe place so we can’t wait to see you. Whilst we are not parkour artists we know you want to see us but also want to be back home safely.
Not sure about everyone else but heading back to work is hard! Partly given the fact that we all just enjoyed the longest holiday of our lives and slept, ate whenever we felt like it with little care of times or routine.
Well we understood that’s why we have reduced our hours, we open 10-5pm now at the moment to make sure the work-life balance transition is easier for us all. A tired hairdresser is not a happy hairdresser. We can accommodate early morning bookings if you prefer with advance requests being subject to availability.
Stay healthy and rested to make sure you do not get run down both physically and mentally.
With everyone feeling the stress of not knowing if they should leave the house, go get your hair done or if you should be looking for a salon that the staff wear hazmat suits here is a few facts which might help you decide!
First one is hairdryers, it’s been a few months and you want a blowout, well like everyone there is always things we miss and a good salon probably won’t be doing blowouts with it without a cut because it enhances the airflow throughout the salon, pushes air from you to others without any way to protect other clients, staff or anyone else in the space. Check here we decided to follow international advice and are not doing blowouts to make sure we are all safe.
Hazmat suits and face shields well as there is various thoughts on this and a lot without any evidence other than to visually freak you out but not in fact doing anything. We have seen some salons staff dressed in hazmat suits happily doing blowouts which is in fact counter productive and possibly troublesome. Clothes don’t carry the virus so there is no need to wear a hazmat suit More evidence
Now face shields, this is to protect the wearer more than anyone else, given the fact that the only part of the body is exposed is the eyes it protects the wearer from airborn particles that could be blown in. Now if everyone is wearing a mask and the area is sanitized and the airflow is controlled it’s highly unlikely that you need to wear it. More here
Now what we are doing is no blow drying, all staff and clients wearing masks at all times, temperature checks of team plus clients prior to entering, no coffee tea or water served and every area sanitised between clients. Limiting salon to only 2 clients spaced several metres apart at any time, no one allowed into salon unless appointment, no deliveries into salon during working hours and only using electronic payments. No cash!
We understand we all are feeling nervous and stressed about going out into a new space and so are we. We are happy to explain more over the phone and answer any questions you have. Whilst life must go on, it has to be safely done.
Don’t know about everyone else but waking up is hard, looking at my reflection asking myself how, why and a list of so many questions and wondering how can I get through each day. Well it starts with smaller steps I guess and do things that make you feel good.
Things will get better, this will end and your dreams will come true it’s just a moment in time!
So if your hair is annoying you or you simply are bored with your hair then get yourself something fresh! We are open and ready to make sure it’s not only a safe experience but you walk out feeling and looking better!
At the time of writing this we simply don’t have clarity if we are opening on 1st June or not and whilst we all can speculate we can not give you clarity right now. One thing is for sure just like you we can not wait for the salon to open up and start safely seeing people again! We have all struggled with various parts of life and it’s been hard for many. While we sit indoors, many don’t have a home or food to eat. It’s hard but it’s harder for many more!
Does the stress of your hair deserve the attention you are giving it? Does it really matter than much? Hair doesn’t define you, that is simply not true, it’s your personality that is you, the thing that people remember not your amazing beach waves or the way it moves in the wind. Although once we are all open and out again you are more than welcome to think like that but it’s not true.
If your hair has grown out, it’s a constant stress every morning since this lockdown started then why are you waiting any longer? Why not shave it off? Doesn’t have to be bald, can just be short, it’s freedom from the stress of what to do with it and one less thing to give power too!
Many men and woman have shaved their head and gone from long hair to incredibly short hair and it looks hot!
Check these ones out with before and after shaving their hair off!
If Natalie Portman above can look better with no hair then we all have a chance!
What about Sigourney Weaver in this classic!? She actually looks younger with no hair!
We already hair you saying you don’t have the face for it, so go Check this out and find out if you can do it or not. Keep in mind if you are always wearing it off your face or in a pony tail then chances are it won’t look much different even shaved!
You like the simpler things in life, the odd beer or 6 after work every single night and love ordering momo’s to be delivered. Some say you were lazy but you have convinced yourself it’s called evolved. Either way things are going to change and can’t go back to the way they were to suit you!
Whilst you have googled “how to make beer at home” and there are still the odd place delivering fast food it’s your hair that is screaming out to you when you look in the mirror every day. How can you make your hair look good during the lockdown?!
Well no easy answer, should you be cutting it yourself, by now your natural color is well and truly more visible than ever before so there is no hiding it’s not naturally black anymore! Deal with it
Should you get someone home? Is there a hairstylist you know you can ask to risk the law and life to come make you look good? Chances are you do know someone but it’s the most stupid thing you could do!
Some will say that they will only have people come to their house now they won’t leave but the biggest problem with that is the person you are inviting over has had more exposure outside than the people inside the salon. The salon is cleaned constantly, every single person is wearing masks and no one is randomly wondering around to strangers homes. It’s not safe to have people entering your house and it’s not safe for the person you are asking to do it! Let alone legal. If you want to be the first on the list once we know the date Click here but will not be doing house calls
We don’t do house calls, we will not be doing house calls because we value our health and the health of our team. Stay patient we will open soon!
We are sure you are as stressed as the next and hair can be such a mood creator, can set you on a high and make you feel like anything is possible! Am I right?
Well we don’t have a date other than the 17th as yet but given the support we have had we thought we should spell out what will happen once we do open.
THERE IS A WAY TO BE ON THE FIRST IN LIST
It’s as simple as pre paying your next visit with us, drop an email to us and follow the instructions and you won’t miss out. Currently we have already had people on the list who have supported us during the shutdown and locked in their booking. You also get 20% off! No one will be on the list other than people who have opted for this FYI
These are the only people that will have priority for the first few days or week. First in best dressed so to speak.
It’s been a while since salons were open and unless you were getting a trim the day we closed then it’s about time your hair needed trimming. Hair grows approx 1-1.5 inches per month which means it’s 6 weeks since we were closed so that’s a little over 2 inches since you saw the light of day.
It’s frustrating we know but there are so many things that can go wrong, sure if it’s bothering you that much, go right ahead and do whatever you need too in order to not go insane. We will deal with it once we are open, you will look back and have a good laugh too no doubt. If you are after “how to cut bangs” look at our Instagram stories we have got a few tips there for you. Guys we have the same so check it out, if you need help give us a shout! It’s only hair, it grows back.
So many guys are complaint about their hair and wondering how they are going to survive but have forgotten about the shrubs down south in the garden, the bush or the short and curlies. Sure this isn’t a salon job, it’s not like your going to book yourself in for some balayagè and a pube trim right! So this is something that you should be managing yourself regardless of lockdown!
