Tired of colouring your hair every month?
We have been overwhelmed with the amount of people who are tired of covering the grey or “ white” hair and honestly we love it! Imagine all the free time and extra money you will save! The thought of not having to plan your life around regrowth.
Once you have decided, now the hard part of actually managing and navigating your way out in a way that leaves you feeling human. It can be confusing and you will most likely get conflicting advice so expect it. There is no easy way that won’t leave you question your decision several times so it’s important you are strong. A lot of times, white hair or natural hair is more flattering than a blanket coverage!
It’s a long journey if you have length, especially if you have a darker color, the contrast can be huge and you will be tempted to fall but don’t!
Here are a few ways to help you through the transition
If you have just started it’s ok there are things you can do now to help the process. Depending on how dark you have been colouring it as to what needs to be done but for argument sake imagine it’s 80% white and you have been colouring it brown or dark brown.
Within a few weeks you will be hit with white roots so if you wanted to lighten the overall hair now is the time to do it. If you wait and try to do this later you will end up with not as clean of a canvas, better to lighten the ends or darker hair now slightly (1-2 shades not more )
Now the next step can be either simply leaving it grow out or transitioning with color. How it’s done with color is by continually coloring the regrowth, slightly lighter each time ( 1/4-1/2 shade ) and have it translucent rather than a solid coverage. Once you get used to seeing the white hair stained the next step of seeing it natural won’t be so stark!
Be warned that along the way someone will say get some lowlights. Now tgis may be a hood idea for you and that depends from person to person but if you are planning on growing it out, doing another process at the roots that you ultimately have to grow out too is counter productive.
Remember match the tone, white hair looks grey, it’s white! It gives an ash look so the color on the ends needs to be ash or it will have too much contrast with the roots.
