Why you don’t need a Global color

A global color ( an all over color ) is not something you do everytime you get your roots done, you simply don’t need too! It’s rare that you need too intact recommended a lot of times not too and here is why!

The more you color the ends, the more porous they become and the more they fade. If you have an intense fashion color ( like bright red, copper violet etc ) then this is obviously doesn’t relate to you and you will need to “freshen up” the ends regularly. For everyone else we need to understand why you are coloring, if it’s to cover grey then in fact to look natural the ends should be lighter than the roots or you risk it looking fake and coloured. Naturally hair lightens over time regardless and should be 1/2 to 1 shade lighter on the ends. So before you just keep coloring the ends, ask yourself why!

Now when it comes to color your hair, and the roots are showing you have multiple choices, you can do what you did the previous time or utilise the grown out canvas to your advantage and adjust the color. For example you had highlights and they need redoing, you can smudge the root area to help blend in the regrowth and keep the ends as they are. This will give you a balayagè type effect and hide your regrowth.

3 WAYS TO AIR DRY YOUR CURL

We all know someone who says they never blow dry their hair and yet it always looks awesome how? Is it a skill that is taught to few and a mystery to the masses or is it so obvious that no one tries it?

Could it be that a few small tricks and doing less is actually the answer? Keep reading!

Now let’s get one thing straight, you can’t get a haircut once every 6 months and expect your hair to sit the way you want it’s unrealistic it needs to be trimmed every 6/8 weeks to remove dehydrated ends and to prevent split ends. So the foundation is regular trims!

Secondly it’s product, you can use different things for different hair and the needs change depending on the hair. Let’s just put a few products in the basket for you and you can try what you have and see what works and what doesn’t.

A serum, this closes the cuticle and prevents frizz ( don’t use anything too heavy and must be water soluble)

A leave in conditioner which adds moisture, 5-6 sprays throughout.

A sea salt spray, adds strength to the curl and helps it retain its shape.

Now the hard part! After gently applying all these products and ensuring you are not tossing it around, you need to do NOTHING but wait!

Everytime you touch, flip or move it you are encouraging frizz so just don’t touch it, sitting in non direct sunlight and not with direct air facing you ( not in the car with the aircon on full facing you either!) Just wait!

Your curl will be defined and more crisp. Now you know the basics it’s up to you how you adapt it, every head of hair is different and may need more or less of the above. Remember the more you touch it the more frizz will appear!

The easy way to remove split ends!

No secret that 2020 has had its challenges and if we are honest Hair isn’t the worst thing that has or could have happened. But now it’s become aware that some instead of growing length, it’s reducing. We have in the last few months seen more amount of hair than ever, some going from long to short, dramatic changes and some holding on to death life the length they have.

Split ends happen for a few reasons, excessive heat when styling, over processed chemical treatments, blunt scissors when you last had it cut, lack of regular trims.

The ends split as the centre hair structure is left exposed and is prone to being damaged over time. If it’s regularly trimmed then any fragile ends are removed and giving it a fresh lease of life!

Via Gopalika

Can you remove split ends with product? NO

The only thing that removes a split end is a pair of scissors, your hair should be trimmed regardless of what your hair goal is, every 6-8 weeks. If not you could end up with multiple splits which will eventually break off and you will end up loosing length not gaining it. The split keeps travelling up the hair shaft until it breaks off, then a new one appears and so you end up with shorter hair over time!

Close up on left is after cutting sharp scissors on right is blunt scissors

Stop color fading

A lot walk out of the salon after spending hours to get your hair done with a color that is awesome only to have it wash out and look dull or tired shortly after. There are several reasons why your color May be fading out let’s talk.

Color needs a healthy hair in order to hold true to what it should be. If you imagine the cuticle ( the outside layer of your hair ) is like the doors in your house. If it’s not closed then nothing will stay inside, it gets closed when you condition it, when the condition of your hair is healthy and chemically hasn’t been compromised much at all.

Now whilst coloring your hair is a chemical it can be done whilst keeping the health of your hair in tact.

Don’t so extremes, one month you go dark, next month you want to go lighter then you decide red is your color and the following month you want ash blonde. Guess what, firstly it’s not going to happen but even if you get close the chances your hair is going to hold color is slim! The more damage your hair goes through the less it will hold color.

Use a sulfate free shampoo, you have heard us saying it repeating the same song for years but it works. Always condition your hair, this closes the cuticle. Regular trims to remove split ends which will cause hair to become brittle and split.

Remember the better the condition the better the chances your color will hold. Products like leave in serums are good as long as they are water soluble.

If you can’t get it to hold then it may be time to stop what you are doing and book yourself in for a consultation with us.

Looking for a blow?

Well it’s already practically September and it’s been anything but a normal year for all of us. Nothing is what it was no matter how hard we try it’s just not.

Now we reopened after being closed for 11 weeks and want to make sure that not only us are safe but also you, with all of the suggested safety measures in place we added one more which has been adopted in other countries.

With every part of the salon operational ( bar your cuppacino ) we chose not to do blow drying for a very good reason.

Air is pushed and sucked all around your face, our face and all through the salon, ( and we know it’s remote ) we do not want to risk any element of your visit for a simple blow dry. Sure it may be revealed later that we were wrong but it’s better to be safe than sorry and am sure at the end of the day you and your families feel the same.

Now we have heard some saying it’s not the same, well it’s not but what we do know is that the cut or the color is the most important factor and with using our super absorbent disposable towel we manage to get 85-95% of the moisture out of your hair. Structurally your haircut is done in such a way that it will hold its own with or without a blow dry so you can relax knowing that it has the ease of styling in its foundation.

We look forward to giving you a blow once things settle down and they will in time.

How long will it last?

For some it’s 14 days for others it may be 22 days yet for the majority it’s in the 5th week after visiting the salon that they notice it needs attention.

To maintain the shape of your style you need to be trimming it every 6-8 weeks, for guys it’s 5 weeks as typically the hair is shorter so it’s more obvious that it is getting out of shape slightly faster!

If you are growing your hair you still need to trim it every 6-8 weeks also but obviously trim less than has grown to make sure and damaged ends are removed and the hair looks it’s best!

3 Hair habits to stop

If you always do what you’ve always done, you will always get what you already got.

Sometimes to get the things we want we have to break a cycle of doing things that in some cases, cause the opposite. No one wants to hear that the things they do are wrong but sometimes we need to be told. If you are constantly eating junk food, no exercise and sleep erratically the chances of you being the most healthy are fairly slim. Good habits create results if continued long enough.

Now let’s talk hair! When you shampoo your hair, the mission should be to cleanse your scalp so it’s not about rubbing the hair too much rather it’s about massaging the roots and then working it through the ends. You rinse well to make sure all the shampoo is removed. Then you Squeeze out excess moisture!

Then you apply conditioner on ends and work it through to the mid lengths not the roots or scalp. Conditioner is for your hair! Using a wide tooth comb starting from the bottom comb through to the roots to remove any tangles. Rinse well and not aggressive then don’t touch your hair.

Looks good for a photo but is terrible for your hair!

A lot get out of the shower flip hair upside down and wrap a towel! DO NOT DO THIS! It creates unwanted tension and friction on the hair. Imagine you want to avoid frizz yet you place your hair upside down twisted into a towel expecting it to sit frizz free when it’s out and down? Never goi g to happen!

Once out of the shower, gentle pat dry your hair in the position it’s in, add some leave in conditioner or serum as required and only using fingers place it where you want it. If you use a styling product go ahead and gently put that in but avoid touching it much at all.

These few habits will help you manage your hair in between trips to the salon as well as daily.

Has your hairfall increased?

The term “hair loss” is such a subjective term and brings up all kinds of thoughts and emotions. Having hair fall out is part of the cycle of hair growth and can not be stopped all together. Every human will have approximately 100 hairs fall out a day as it’s come to the end of the growth cycle ( known as the Telogen phase )

To understand this better there are three stages of hair growth, anagen, catagen and the final stage telogen begore it all starts again called Exogen stage or the resting stage begore new hair appears.

The Anagen stage is where the hair grows and this stage typically lasts anywhere from 2-7 years depending on your body and make up. Then the Catagen stage which lasts around 10 days where the hair follicle shrinks and detached from the papilla or root. Then comes the resting stage called Telogen where the hair sits while the new hair develops and pushes out the old hair and the cycle repeats.

Stay with me, it will all make sense!

With the entire world on lockdown and the threat of being infected with corona virus, jobs lost, employment uncertainty and the stress of family and friends and all of our future our body is producing more Cortisol ( also known as the stress hormone or the fight or flight hormone ) which in turn pushes the hair into the Telogen stage faster than it would normally. The increase production of this hormone also gives us less quality sleep, mood swings, muscle soreness, less flexibility, rapid weight gain, high blood pressure and a flushed face!

All in all the thought that the stress is making your hair fall out is in fact partly true! The best way to deal with this is to manage your stress levels, good nutrition, realistic and consistent sleep patterns, meditation and in extreme situations you may need to seek medical assistance. Also please see Other reasons you could be having excessive hair fall

It’s been a lot to take in and we still need to all get through the other side, so chill and do what you can and don’t stress for what you can’t do.

Are you copying a hairstyle?

Often hairdressers get photo references of celebrities hair that people love, which isn’t the bad thing. It’s human nature to gravitate towards someone we like or admire with clothes, holiday destinations.

Now while we love reference photos as it gives us an idea of what you like as well as what you don’t like but we have to remember your Face shape and hair is unique and the hair you love just may not work the same on you.

It may mean changing some elements of the reference to adapt to your hair and make sure it suits you and you can manage it the way you want.

We are all different and that we should embrace! You are unique and getting the right haircut from thr right Salon should be the focus. One that will help guide you and talk to you about what suits you!

5 DIY HAIR FAILS

It’s not uncommon for all of us to try and save money! It’s normal and in fact a good thing, but there is a time and place for everything.

YouTube and the internet is an incredible source of information and we can learn some great skills if we want but there are some things that are simply not DIY friendly. For a lot of people around the world left with no options a DIY haircut wasn’t a choice it simply had to be done snd that’s fine.

The Corona Cut

It’s not always ( in fact rarely ) going to turn out as you expected because years of training can’t be taught in a 10 minute video but at least it will fix what’s annoying you and give you something to do for a bit!

Now when it comes to color, it’s a lot more complex and easy to end up with a total disaster! Years of training, understanding color and knowing the underlying pigments in your hair along with the pre existing colors you have had it can go sideways fast!

Looks easy but requires years of training and science of hair
it’s not going to be an easy fix

Fixing something like a haircut is fairly simple and you may just need to go shorter than you want but fixing a color is more complicated so you should possibly leave it to the professionals. Who cares if it’s not fresh, doesn’t matter if there is a few white hairs showing. Wait and get it done in a salon when you feel comfortable to step outside!

You can always just buzz it off!

Pastel hair colors

Want to get a pastel hair color?

The task of going from dark to pastel colors is one that is shadowed in mystery and hidden agenda. We have tried to make things straight forward for you so taking the decision more informed.

Firstly it’s not a “quick” process nor is it cheap but we will tell you it can be stunning if done right! Going platinum is not a quick task and can take Months

Our co founder Merrylin wanted a pink egirl fade so we took the challenge. Her hair hadn’t been coloured for years so it was completely natural.

Via Merrylin Boro

We only did two sections from the top of the ear to the corner of her bangs. It was lightened from roots to ends for approx 35 min, rinsed and dried then re applied leaving our roots for another 30 minutes. We then wanted to let the hair rest for a few days and the swelling on the cuticle layer to subside.

After first day

The condition was great so we toned it lightly adding a soft ash gold to take the raw look off it. The few days rest would ensure the hair is not going to be damaged.

After first session after toning via Merrylin Boro

But we want to have a pastel color so we need to remove all the warmth out of the hair, putting the pink over it begore the toner above would not have given us a clean color. Fading the pink to white would have been a fairy tale. So away we went after 3 days and re lightened it leaving out the roots for another 30 minutes. We rinsed blast dried it and applied the pink fade and here is the result.

Via Merrylin Boro

The pink is intense and the roots and fades towards the ends and we think it looks hot! Maintenance is simply refreshing the pink every 10-12 washes and the blonde will grow out which will add to the effect and most likely we won’t do. Let’s see!

Things to do in lockdown

Stuck at home and dream of being productive?

For many around the world, the idea of working from home sounds great but completely useless if you are in the service industry, there appears like not a lot you can do from home. It’s a great time to get fit, learn something online or think of ways to pivot your business for the future.

Pottery classes online

We are blessed to meet some people who have used this time to actually start businesses and are booming! We had one client who has started an Indian snack business and has now 20 staff and small factory, a friend launched a healthy smoothie bowl business and is booming now. The stories are widespread and teaches us to think outside the box. There are opportunities right now that most can’t be bothered or simply don’t know how too take advantage of.

I know boredom and anxiety set in from day one for most including us, the thought of indefinite lockdown was daunting. Eleven weeks indoors in the end with restriction of movement limited to buying food and that’s it. We spent hours every day creating content for our website that was relevant for now and maintained interaction with our clients via Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp.

We had 321% increase in web traffic which in return we all know that means more business, more visibility and entertained us at the same time. Two months later we have maintained the traction and have inevitably changed the course of our business. through smart planning and a little research a lot things can be done or learnt in your underwear from the couch, bed or in front of the TV

Before you find excuses look for solutions and a way to make the current situation a positive. If you need help or ideas reach out to a friend or a company and ask for help, now is not the time to watch re-runs of friends or your favourite 90’s sitcoms.

Which Hair Salon to choose?

You want a haircut and you want it done right so who do you choose? The ones that claim to be the best? The biggest? The most luxurious salon in Delhi? Do you choose the salon that has the most locations? The one that has the most services? The salon that has the most celebrity clients?

Let’s be honest, it’s not that easy. It’s a matter of finding a salon & stylist that gets you, understands the language you speak, your ideas and your vision for your hair and you can talk freely with. It’s not about the awards, it’s not about how many “outlets” they have or the celebrity clients, it never has been! It’s about the personal skills along with the technical skills. You need both, not just one.

Via @janinazais on Instagram

The best way to find that salon is start with the internet, look at the website and see if it’s about selling multiple services, packages, discounts or if it’s about hair, styles new ideas thoughts colors etc. you will instantly get the vibe if it’s for you or not!

Blended color options

With not a lot going on socially we have all had time to think of a color or a look that we want, possibly even filling up our saved images on Instagram. It’s a good time to reflect and refine what works, what doesn’t and how much effort you honestly want to put into Maintainence.

Hair color can be high maintenance but it can be done so it’s incredibly low Maintainence too. Getting it right can be tricky depending on your expectations and since you have time on your hands it might be a good idea to check out the options.

A solid color grows out with a solid regrowth, making it obvious you color your hair even after a week in some cases days depending on your natural color and the color you do.

Solid regrowth like this is high maintanence

Now balayagè can be high Maintainence too if you not carful, options are amazing but again depending on how often you want to keep visiting the salon and your budget it can be overwhelming.

Balayagè with a full color

A blended version that is low Maintainence leaves you regrowth free and able to not worry about your hair for months, other than your regular 6-8 week trims and is super sexy.

So if you think you’re up for a change why not do it!

GET AN ONLINE CONSULTATION

Yes to make life easier we have started consultations via FaceTime or WhatsApp. So if you are unsure about what to do with your hair without having to come in and have a lengthy conversation about it, considering the anxiety behind stepping out maybe this is ideal time to discuss your next color or cut whilst sitting at home.

Trouble knowing what’s right but you’re bored then getting advise without stepping out of the house!

Give us a call on 01141010011 and we can schedule a consultation with you!

Appointments and times vary depending on availability.

Manage your hair with less

Honestly we have tried telling you to stop stocking up on product for the sake of it, buying just because you think it will be the one product that will change your life. Maybe it will be maybe it won’t.

To have the right products that work for you and your haircut takes trial and error to some extent but there has to be a limit. We have stopped selling products to people like you, we request you get a bag and bring it all in so we can decide what you should use and what you should give away.

Enough is enough!

If this sounds like you then go get the bag, fill it up and give us a call. Advice is free but the storage you are wasting in your house is honestly annoying and wasteful.

Summer 2020

Well this year has been one for the books that’s for sure! whilst we have all had time to reflect and let’s be honest there are better things to do that spend useless time in the bathroom pushing and pulling your hair into place. We believe Hair should compliment your overall look and lifestyle not over consume you.

How do you get your hair to be more natural? Well it all starts with the right cut, creating texture or encouraging the right ease of movement happens with the cut. Creating the right texture to enhance and control the curl or movement of the hair happens when you cut it.

What products should you use? Well ideally very few, if the cut is correct for your hair then very little product is needed. Saying that a little help can go a long way, a leave in serum, a moisturiser may be all that is needed depending on your hair.

What is a low maintenance hair color? Balayagè is perfect for super low Maintainence and ease of growing out, blended and only 3-4 shade variation is perfect.

If you have high maintenance hair and are over it, book yourself in and tell us what you currently do and what you would ideally want to do and we can create something that works specifically for your hair and lifestyle.

5 Monsoon Hair Hacks

So the rain is here, well kind of once it makes up it’s mind and the humidity has kicked in. Time for your sexy crisp curl to go for a toss and hello to frizz!

Well let’s try and help, some know these already and some may not so hope they help!

#1 DON’T DO

Don’t brush your hair dry, comb with a wide tooth comb with your conditioner in then don’t brush it or comb it again. It will cause electricity build up in the hair, creating static and frizz!

#2 DON’T DO

Avoid any product with alcohol in it, typically setting products like gels or mouse was the alcohol dehydrates the hair.

#3 DON’T DO

Don’t get out of the shower and shake your head like a German Shepard, it’s only going to make it go crazy frizzy, once the conditioner is rinsed off you need to handle with care, pat dry don’t rub or shake at all! Do not put your head upside down and shake it.

#4 DON’T DO

Don’t put oil on your hair or scalp, oil and water don’t mix so no matter what you will be left with a residue which will amplify heat causing your hair to look shinny but in fact become frizzy and brittle. Use water soluable products, your hair is craving moisture

#5 DON’T DO

Don’t skip appointments to get your hair trimmed, you should be trimming it every 6-8 weeks to remove split ends.

3 Hair Mistakes That Are Making You Look Older

It’s hard enough to worry about everything day to day but holding on to a style or the color your hair was 15 years ago is most likely making you look older than you are!

Iris Apfel

Forget medical enhancements to get you looking fresh and youthful, your hair can drop years just with a few small changes that are super easy. Below is your checklist and solution to give you a guide.

MISTAKE #1

Your Hair is too Long

Now by too long it’s not our love for short hair we are pushing rather that Gravity not only pulls things closer to the floor, long hair can drag the look of your facial features down, making you look older, tired and overall not fresh. Leaving hair uncut for months can lead to split ends which leaves you with thin and looking tired.

SOLUTION

Trim your hair regularly and get a fresh consultation. Often we treat a hair appointment like it’s buying fruit, you end up with the same thing time after time without reassessing what’s working and what’s not. Visit your hairstylist every 6-8 weeks.

MISTAKE #2

Your Color is too Dark

Not sure how you got here but you did, your hair is too dark! In the battle to cover white hair you have ended up with a mono tone color that is too dark for your skin tone, it lacks dimension and looks dull.

SOLUTION

The More white hair that comes, the more you should shift your color slightly lighter, you can add baby lights and slowly take the base color lighter over time. It can’t change overnight but you can correct the course to a more flattering fresh look.

MISTAKE #3

You Hate even the Thought of White Hair

Your love hate for white hair started years ago with no reason other than you associate old with white hair, you think just because you were born with brown hair it should be like that until the day you die. Typically your hair color is completely different when you are born to when you reach 10 and again at 20. Your skin tone changes over the years and you need to adapt with it.

SOLUTION

Just because there is a few white hairs, it doesn’t have to be hidden! If your hair is in good condition and a cut that suits you, white hair can actually enhance the look without adding years to your appearance. Covering them 100% is not always the best solution and there are options like highlights or Smudging which can be far better than a solid color and you still have freedom from being locked into salon visits.

Trigger warning ⚠️

The thought of multiple hands even remotely close to us makes all our skin crawl.

We have never been a fan of more than one person working on a client at any given time, it’s a personal service and it’s your space. Obviously there may be exceptions but rarely would there be the need!

Keep your circle tight and choose who comes into your space.

How to be at a Safe distance and still get your hair done

What is a safe distance and how can we get back to normal when it seems like it’s out of control? You are not alone, we all have a fear of being around others let alone sitting or being amongst a crowd!

Via Paul Malinski

While we don’t have this dreamlike aesthetic we limited the people that are allowed into our space so no one feels like anyone else is there. We have a limit of two people at any time but offer one at a time ( subject to availability on request ) to ensure you feel comfortable while getting your hair done.

Let’s all be safe, no mask no entry and it must stay on 100% of the time in the salon. If you want to take a selfie please do it with the mask on 😷 the main goal is to get your hair done safely for everyone so you look and feel more normal.

We reduced our opening hours to Tuesday – Saturday 10-5pm so please call or DM for bookings as no walk in bookings are entertained.

How to look after your hair while you are busy on zoom calls

You are all too busy to live, we have heard all the horror stories about the new work mode a lot of you are doing to survive. It’s hard, whilst on one hand we need to work harder than ever and yet on the other hand we need to look after ourselves more than we ever have!

Via Pinterest

Putting your hair up in a topknot doesn’t count as self care, it’s a time saver for sure and l guess but it doesn’t help you look or feel good about yourself. It’s a struggle to make time to shampoo conditioner and even to attempt a blow out is almost out of the question.

A quick fix which may help is washing your hair and putting it up damp, comb through with a wide tooth comb apply one or two drops of serum and a leave in moisturiser (if needed) twist it up and tie it off with band once the calls are over or later in the day take it out and you will have a soft bend texture which can make you feel more you.

Another option is doing the same thing but braiding it and letting it dry with the braids.

Wash and wear haircuts!

Right now the thought of sitting in a salon to make your hair look good seems useless and to be honest a tad odd. We have never had a weekly blowout culture nor have been involved in producing work that needs a lot of effort to style. It’s just not realistic today to think that anyone has time to sit and get a blow out every few days.

The cut is the framework that will support the shape. It’s not just cutting it dry it goes well beyond that, the direction of the blade when cutting to the angle the blade enters the hair to the tension the hair is held. Creating or encouraging movement that minimises time spend in front of the mirror is what we believe is beautiful hair.

Why we need to start looking after ourselves

It’s true we have gone from a culture of spending too much time and money on out appearance to zero and it seems like we are all doing just fine. That special cream for wrinkles is long gone and it seems like life goes on, what once was your morning ritual now just seems like an annoying waste of time.

It’s okay to pause and it’s ok to pull back and honestly it’s probable a good thing for a lot of us, so much unnecessary time and money wasted on things that simply didn’t matter.

What we do need to do it make sure our mental health and the way we feel stays positive, you can handle anything if we are mentally capable and ready. The way we look at ourselves sometimes is a reflection of the way we feel so it’s important that whilst we pull back on a lot of things that we realise we have to keep loving the reflection in the mirror.

We are not saying come get a color or get your haircut, we are saying love yourself for who you are and realise how blessed you are! Sure if getting a fresh haircut is what you need then we are here but it may not be and that’s ok too.

New Rules NOW OPEN

We reopened on the 3rd June after being closed for 11 weeks, various amount of apprehension which is normal and did various run through scenario’s on hygiene until we all were happy and felt safe, for both the team as well as the clients.

We have only maximum of two clients in the salon at any time, with a sanitize break to ensure proper swab down of all touch points, no cash only card with no one touching your card or machine, it’s covered each time in cling film and sprayed down. If you wish to be the only person in the salon please request that when booking and we will do our best to offer you a suitable time for that, however these slots are limited.

No drinks, coffee or food allowed in the salon and no one to enter unless you are getting your hair done. The front door is locked and upon arrival ( as long as it is the set time ) we let you in, check temperature, sanitise your hands and drop any bags at reception. We temperature check everyone including our team before entry.

We are not doing blow dry’s because it pushes the air around in the salon too much and whilst we are a safe zone, we feel safer not risking any element of infection. For colors we provide disposable face masks which can be changed prior to entering or in the washroom.

We limit any small talk face to face ( even with mask on ) and consult from over 1.5 metres away and all changes in hairstyle we request to connect on FaceTime prior to your appointment so we can chat and see your face without a mask while you are at home.

Yes it’s a lot to take in, we know but safety of our team and you is paramount and if we have to change down a gear or two and be extra careful then that’s what we all must do. If you have any request or question please don’t hesitate to ask as we all know it’s a stressful time.

We do look forward to seeing you and apart from fresh hair it fills our heart to see you and help you feel fresh and happy ❤️

Hairlines to lengthen your neck

We are all different and built differently and thank goodness for that! Very rarely do we look at the back of our head and see what others see.

Model Mohit Kumar Sain

Mohit has incredibly thick hair which adds weight and volume giving him the appearance of a thicker neck.

What we did here is cut it with clippers removing the weight. As you can see dramatically different!

A little taper off the edges to smoothen it and give him a better finish for longer. Lengthening his neck.

Blended it in, cleaned up the hairline and gave him some texture at the top.

We coloured his hair brown and counter balanced the warm tones so it looks more natural now and he looks like a different person!

Express service

Ok so let’s be honest it’s hardly the time to wonder the streets, go window shopping or go sit in a salon for hours on end without a certain level of stress and anxiety kicking in. We know that and want to spell out a few things to put your mind at rest.

Firstly we are not blow drying currently due to the air getting pushed all throughout the salon and disturbing air flow ( makes sense ) so right there you cut 10-15 minutes off your “in salon” time. Consultations for changes are done over the phone or via video prior to you coming in so there is less talk more action once you get here.

There is always small talk and catch up that we need because we have been part of your life and quite frankly we have been dying to know what happened to your cousin who was dating her bosses ex father in law. Don’t worry we will make time for that, we are multi skilled.

We have limited people in the salon at any moment with the door locked so there is zero distractions and it’s a safe place so we can’t wait to see you. Whilst we are not parkour artists we know you want to see us but also want to be back home safely.

Physically back to work but not mentally

Not sure about everyone else but heading back to work is hard! Partly given the fact that we all just enjoyed the longest holiday of our lives and slept, ate whenever we felt like it with little care of times or routine.

Via Artxd

Well we understood that’s why we have reduced our hours, we open 10-5pm now at the moment to make sure the work-life balance transition is easier for us all. A tired hairdresser is not a happy hairdresser. We can accommodate early morning bookings if you prefer with advance requests being subject to availability.

Stay healthy and rested to make sure you do not get run down both physically and mentally.

Want to get your hair done but don’t want to see anyone

You are not alone, it’s a very real feeling the last place you want to be is amongst crowds or in a space filled with more people than needed. Honestly it’s ok to feel like that, in fact we all do.

Via Pinterest

We only have 4 staff in the salon and only maximum of two clients at any point, the door is locked and no one else is allowed. It’s out and about without the feeling of people in your space. We have a lot of health protocols in place for the salon to keep us all safe. But we also know how you feel and are doing everything we can to make sure it’s a relaxing experience.

The last thing any of us want right now is multiple people in your space, don’t worry this will never happen with us not now or beforehand.

Looking forward to seeing you all in the salon now we are open!

The lockdown gave my hair a fresh start

After a few months of not blow drying your hair, you have fallen in love with your curls! No matter how many times we told you, you had to find out for yourself and yes they look great natural but there are a few things you need to get right to make sure it is fact low maintenance.

Curly hair typically lacks moisture and will respond differently in humid weather compared to dry environment so it’s important that if you are going to use products you choose the right one. Creams and leave in moisturiser need to be your best friend and while every head of hair is different when trying a new product, you will need to try various ways and find both the right product as well as the right way it works best on your hair. Some moisture creams work best on wet hair while the same product may work better on your dry hair, depends on your hair, the

Via Easy breezy Lob

The cut, which is the most important element of getting the curl to behave move and perform the way you want is all about our “dry cutting” technique. Going far beyond simply cutting hair dry it works using the natural flow and movement of the hair to encourage a better formed curl that looks soft, behave and have some kind of purpose. It’s about creating the right weight, texture and structure so the natural flow of the hair is maintained and functions with ease with or without product!

So if you have come out of the lockdown feeling less high maintenance and really want to keep loving your curls give us a call.

Are you tired of your reflection?

Don’t know about everyone else but waking up is hard, looking at my reflection asking myself how, why and a list of so many questions and wondering how can I get through each day. Well it starts with smaller steps I guess and do things that make you feel good.

Things will get better, this will end and your dreams will come true it’s just a moment in time!

So if your hair is annoying you or you simply are bored with your hair then get yourself something fresh! We are open and ready to make sure it’s not only a safe experience but you walk out feeling and looking better!

Give us a call 01141010011

We are now open!

So after 10 weeks closed and the entire world stood still it’s time to slowly open back up. As of Wednesday 3rd we will be reopening the salon! Yes say good bye to that top knot and 4 inch regrowth it’s time to get your post lockdown game on!

Now while we want to make everyone happy, we also know there are limited hours in each day. We have extended our hours but you may still have to wait so get in early. We have made some adjustments to how we do things for the first few weeks which are based on what other countries have done in salons. We are limiting number of people in the salon at any point and there will be no waiting area open to anyone other than the people getting their hair done. Blow drying hair is the use of forcing air both around your head as well as forcing the air around the salon, which is not ideal. We will be doing color, cut and hand styling your hair with no heat.

Why no blow dry? Well air gets pushed around during the process causing the air around you to be circulated all through the salon, hence making social distancing useless. This we will reassess as we move forward but feel it’s the safest option for all.

As you can imagine, after almost 11 weeks closed we are all eager to get back and start feeling good however it’s important that we all do our bit to keep everyone safe.

For bookings you can slide us a DM or call 01141010011 from tomorrow!

Why you should grow a beard!

For some the thought of having a beard seems like hell, the heat, the feeling of having all that facial hair on your face and not feeling your actual skin but it has a purpose for many guys! It’s not that hot, it can be tamed and it doesn’t have to be a burden it just needs maintenance.

A beard can do what plastic surgery does

Now no one needs “fixing” let’s get that straight right now, guy or a girl you need nothing to be you, you are just fine ok! But if we are talking about being more appealing to the naked eye then there can be some things we all could do that can help and having a beard could be one of them. Face shape plays a big role in creating the right hair specifically for you and Understanding that can help you decide if you should grow a beard or not.

This guy adds length on his face with a beard, making his forehead look bigger with a beard

For some the options have not so much to do with just simply Faceshape it goes a little further and can literally change everything. If it feels right and makes you happy then it’s the right thing to do.

Hair grows so it’s not really such a big deal, caring for your beard and skin underneath it is important so make sure for hygiene purposes that you adapt and ensure you are washing the beard and skin several times a day or it will get irritated from infection caused by dirt and bacteria.

So if you have a need to lengthen your chin, add length to your face or hide an imperfection then maybe a beard is for you, doesn’t have to be long or “big” a simple 3-4 day growth can serve the purpose perfectly then trimming regularly at home can work!

Taking care of your hair during the lockdown

We are tired of food, can’t sleep but you are still getting stressed about your hair. Given the fact that we all have so much time on our hands it’s obvious that you are seeing your reflection in the mirror 8-10 times more than before. The reality is most likely your not blow drying as much if at all but you haven’t trimmed it for several months now and we know that’s the case because we have all been on lockdown.

Merrylin Boro enjoying some sunshine

If you are lucky enough to have a space that has direct sunlight I’m sure you are counting your blessings and soaking up some much needed Vitamin D which according to not only my mother but many doctors is essential for our bodies Heath and maintaining a healthy immune system.

Now given you have also run out of lots of products please make sure you cover your hair with a scarf or hat because the direct sunlight will suck the moisture out of your hair and cause it to get brittle and break. Do not go outside with oil in your hair, this will make the damage happen faster and if you have a leave in conditioner add liberally beforehand. Enjoy the sun in moderation.

Once the Salons open it should be one of the first things you do, get back into a hair routine and get a trim.

Quarantine looks 2020

Every single person right now needs a haircut, unless you are one of those people that Shaved it offor went down the road of a DIY. Well considering the amount of DIY flooding our inbox we thought it best to highlight, what could go wrong and done reference photos of looks you could claim as your end goal in case the family start to laugh at you!

We call this look Eyes wide shut half tanked
Sadly we see this even out of lockdown but if you stand at a certain angle it looks Great!
You look like a Champion
When the sides and back are ok but the top is Annoying
Go get your hat
When you like chunky fries so that’s the look your going for

Now a lot of you have spent hours at a salon watching fools or highlights being done so how hard could it be right?!

No idea what we will call this
This Is a DIY FAIL

So maybe before you attempt a hair DIY you should think about the time, effort and cost to fix it as it may be a traumatic and expensive exercise.

How to make beer at home

You like the simpler things in life, the odd beer or 6 after work every single night and love ordering momo’s to be delivered. Some say you were lazy but you have convinced yourself it’s called evolved. Either way things are going to change and can’t go back to the way they were to suit you!

Whilst you have googled “how to make beer at home” and there are still the odd place delivering fast food it’s your hair that is screaming out to you when you look in the mirror every day. How can you make your hair look good during the lockdown?!

Well no easy answer, should you be cutting it yourself, by now your natural color is well and truly more visible than ever before so there is no hiding it’s not naturally black anymore! Deal with it

Should you get someone home? Is there a hairstylist you know you can ask to risk the law and life to come make you look good? Chances are you do know someone but it’s the most stupid thing you could do!

Some will say that they will only have people come to their house now they won’t leave but the biggest problem with that is the person you are inviting over has had more exposure outside than the people inside the salon. The salon is cleaned constantly, every single person is wearing masks and no one is randomly wondering around to strangers homes. It’s not safe to have people entering your house and it’s not safe for the person you are asking to do it! Let alone legal. If you want to be the first on the list once we know the date Click here but will not be doing house calls

We don’t do house calls, we will not be doing house calls because we value our health and the health of our team. Stay patient we will open soon!

The days of being packed in like sardines are over!

Firstly let’s just put it out there, we have a very different approach and always have when it comes to the amount of people working on our clients. Not saying it’s better or worse we simply don’t think having 3-4 people in your immediate space is either relaxing or hygienic, especially now.

If we look at why this was popular it was always to maximise spend in limited amount of time and space, well we for one won’t be trying that model now or anytime in the future!

Less is more, sure it may take you longer when you go to someone who specialises in one thing versus some who can’t really do much well. It may take multiple visits but it’s far more relaxing, safer and the quality of the service is dramatically better.

There is in fact a disorder that is the fear of people Touching you and seeing this image gives me the creeps especially in current climate.

I guess even when hygiene and your health and safety is concerned some will still defend the choice but we think most salons that are full of clutter, over staffed and generally dirty looking will be a thing of the past.

Image of Our Salon

There isn’t room for mess, we only do hair and we never jam people in! If you haven’t been save Our location

Luxury Holiday destination have always had this minimal approach utilising Refined skill and experience over mass. This expert approach is not only more enjoyable, it’s far more results driven and certainly something that has to be adapted by all salons in India.

Would you prefer to go to a salon that has one person working on you at a time or 3-4 at once, all breathing in your personal space?

Avoid going back to touching up every 15 days

While right now you think it’s no problem and possibly can’t remember the maintenance of your grey hair let’s stop for a minute and remember. You can’t go too far from the salon because what was dark hair 15 years ago with a few random grey hairs is now 80% of the color. You are still coloring it the same color it was to match your wedding photos as you celebrate your 30 year anniversary.

Via Pinterest

The thought of even the slightest white hair showing even after 10-12 days after it starts to poke out makes you feel completely awe full. What’s the solution?

Via Pinterest

The level of coverage is what will help you! While in the past you have always been on the lookout for 100% coverage it’s possibly one of the most high maintenance colors you can do depending on your particular situation. But if your natural hair is now 80% white and your coloring it brown then guess what, people will see a regrowth in less than a week!

Check out this story How to go cold turkey
It’s the first few months that are hard

But if you don’t have the strength to get through the first few months then Smudging is the answer to give you a little help getting over the first step.

We can already hear you say grey hair makes you look older, well we completely disagree with you in fact it does the opposite. It can age you by 10-15 years, it’s only you that thinks it looks bad. Check these inspirations Photos out!

Proof that grey hair doesn’t age you!

So we thought, considering you have already done that hard bit and by our estimate have a big regrowth it may be time to think about your options, could be go cold turkey or it may be opting for a In between color to free some of your time and money!

There are so many ways to help you through this transition if you are ready for it!

Why washing your hair once in 4 days is not ok

Now before you all start to message and tell us how we are terrible people calm down and read!

Via Pinterest

Obviously the lockdown has made us all a little crazy and honestly lazy to some extent, like why bother washing your hair, not like your going out right? Well no your not but there is more reasons why you should than simply what other people think.

Firstly the health of your hair growth is directly linked to the PH level of your scalp, healthy scalp healthy hair growth. If you leave oils natural or otherwise on your scalp, the PH level changes leaving you likely to getting scalp infections irritations and creating an imbalanced your PH level. You wouldn’t fill a pot with kale pulp and plant onions expecting them to grow would you? Most likely not.

As importantly as the above we humans have a tendency to judge ourselves it’s called self esteem. This lockdown is hard enough as it is. Put in the effort so you can look in the mirror and feel good about yourself. The better you feel, the easier this time will be!

Using dry shampoo every other day is ok but more than that can create these Problems

Things you can’t do on line with your hair

ALERT READ THIS BEFORE DIY

So we know where you are and fundamentally what your going through because plus or minus we are all locked down in the same boat, no I’m not writing this from a luxury estate poolside either. The reality is most things have become annoying and some are coping better than others. It’s hard, so don’t be too hard on yourself, everyone is struggling it’s ok.

What we would like to highlight after getting a few messages and emails is DIY hair color! Now whilst we lived spending 3-4 hours a few months ago with you to help you transition you from black with a 70% grey regrowth to a slightly lighter more natural base what you have done or thinking about could be irreversible! Yes just because you saw someone on YouTube telling you to go to the kitchen and mix a bowl of ( god knows what ) and put it on your hair please don’t!

Doing color at home is not only a huge risk but often won’t be able to be reversed simply or in a healthy manner in one visit. We have seen colors go so bad it took months to get it back to normal, the cost as well as the damage may not be worth it!

We know it’s annoying but if you can hold off it is better, sure with your regrowth the size it is once you do it, there may be issues because of the size however at least you won’t be trying to correct color!

So before you think a “live DIY” how to color your hair pink in 5 short minutes sounds too easy to be true, understand it actually is too easy to be true! Please also read Hair treatments you can make at home to make sure you are not mashing onions or rubbing ginger on your scalp expecting it to thinken up!

Look who just went natural

We have been saying for a long time, the grey shouldn’t be covered forever, it may take a complete lockdown for us to make the forced decision to finally grow it out and be free!

Via Karan Johar

Guys around the world have had enough and are embracing the natural sprinkle of grey! Apart from the fact it’s high maintenance, it can tend to look artificial and have the opposite affect and make you look older!

We love Karan Johar’s hair and think this is awesome!

We are sure you are as stressed as the next and hair can be such a mood creator, can set you on a high and make you feel like anything is possible! Am I right?

There is a New world outside

It takes 21 days to break a habit and I don’t know about you but I’m still smoking but I guess a lot has changed mentally. Can still remember what fresh air feels like and how a drive to work stuck in traffic is like, although now i miss it. Seeing people randomly walking across the road, the thought of the ocean touching my feet and the smell of the ocean.

It feels like yesterday that the daily hustle and buzz of a busy hair salon where we all share stories and laughs, but it was almost two months ago. The feeling of creating something new from something old, making people love the reflection and see them walking out feeling better about themselves than when they walked in. I miss that, I miss talking, I miss banter, I miss people ( god who am I ).

Honestly I’m okay with space in fact I love it and don’t particularly like people hanging out in my personal space too long ( more than 5 minutes ) but I miss the choice. It’s for our own good and we all know it’s going to pass and we will look back and remember this time either fondly or a challenge in so many ways.

What will it be like once we can leave our house, will it be like before? The answer no one knows, we can all speculate and try to predict what it will be like but I guess no one has been through it before. Gone are the days in taking the most basic for granted, I’m sure we have all made changes both financially as well as emotionally.

We aren’t the same people as we were so things won’t be the same. Some things will change dramatically while others only slightly. A lot of hardship and financial setbacks for many but a lot of growth for others. We will come back, we will fight through it and we will grow. How that looks right now is only speculation but we know our will is stronger than it ever has been!

Can not wait to see everyone again, cut your hair, talk nonsense, laugh a lot and share our lives with each other! We have missed you all. See you soon!

When your Quarantine hair care involves only one product

When you are stuck inside and worried about running out of shampoo why not alternate with dry shampoo!? It doesn’t actually cleanse your scalp but what it does is add a layer of powdery texture to it and soak up excess oil.

We all have that one product we can’t do without, the one thing that will save your hair when you simply couldn’t be bothered doing it!

Via Pinterest

Understand that dry shampoo is not a substitute for actually washing your hair, it’s an alternative. You still need to wash your hair regularly as the oil build up plus any products applied ( including the dry shampoo ) left on your scalp will cause irritation and or infection.

Some of the Dry Shampoo products we love are…. Ouai, R&co, Oribe and the all trusted by generations Batiste

Get what you can get, try it and see what works for your hair.

HOW TO USE IT?

If you go too heavy using it you will have a head full of white powdery residue, you need to gently lift up the hair in sections starting from the bottom, spray gently about 8-9 inches away at the roots. Keep going up your head and avoid the part line as you may leave a powdery finish, trial and error as it depends on the brand how white it may or may not leave your hair.

Once down a very light massage with your fingertips and you are good to go.

Use it in moderation, maintain a regular shampoo as this is not a replacement. It does not cleanse your scalp or hair

Thinking of cutting your own hair?

It’s been a while since salons were open and unless you were getting a trim the day we closed then it’s about time your hair needed trimming. Hair grows approx 1-1.5 inches per month which means it’s 6 weeks since we were closed so that’s a little over 2 inches since you saw the light of day.

It’s frustrating we know but there are so many things that can go wrong, sure if it’s bothering you that much, go right ahead and do whatever you need too in order to not go insane. We will deal with it once we are open, you will look back and have a good laugh too no doubt. If you are after “how to cut bangs” look at our Instagram stories we have got a few tips there for you. Guys we have the same so check it out, if you need help give us a shout! It’s only hair, it grows back.

Kylie Jenner’s new hair

Considering we are all locked away it’s hard to believe anyone could be doing something fresh with their hair let alone a major overhaul right!? But in all fairness it could have been done a while ago. Either way it seems Kylie has been taking her dark hair slightly lighter for a while now to reveal her new hair color which we love!

A dirty ash light brown with the ends lighter finished with some hairline framing lights. It looks hot and can’t wait to see you guys sporting this lighter hair.

Depending on how dark your hair is as to if this look is a one process transition or if needed would need to be done over several sessions. It may be something that you can work towards over your next few visits or choose a toned down version depending on your comfort level.

How to look after your mental health in lockdown

It’s true that there are simple things you can do to make most things in life, a positive! However there are limitations to the advice you get or the way you interpret it. Depends on who you ask as to the reply you will get, it’s really that basic. If you ask a doctor a medical question, the reply will be based on facts, if you ask your mum it could be based on who knows what! If you listen to some smart powerful people recently you will hear drinking bleech is good for you and could be interesting. IT WILL KILL YOU! Medical advice comes only from doctors so our advice is said with limited knowledge please do your own research.

Staying positive and having a healthy mind while being safely at home is super important and even though it can be incredibly challenging depending on where you are and who happens to be sharing your space. Getting enough sunlight or sunshine is important because it’s medically proven to assist in both Mental Health as well as your Helping your body but like anything it’s best to do your own research and know what is right and what is wrong. I know that sitting on our terrace in both direct and non direct sunlight while working out or having chai has been a saving grace and incredibly positive.

Don’t stay out on your balcony all day, that isn’t ideal unless in fact you have a urinal installed, in which case is kind of weird but you do you!

Creating daily habits are a great way to ensure you don’t fall into a heap! If it’s getting too much reach out to a friend or inbox us. We are happy to just talk if that’s what you need! Stay positive and stay healthy.

Please don’t read the following

I don’t know about you guys but the only thing I’m looking at right now is either has to funny or factual about the virus there is nothing else. If it’s funny I read, if it’s a sell honestly I’m not interested. We are no experts but marketing should be about adding value and not always about clickbait or trying to up sell, it’s about your product or service bringing joy to the consumer.

Now I know for a lot of people, you struggle because when it comes to your work, there isn’t much funny going on. Well maybe there should be! Right now while everyone is on lockdown it’s more important than ever that you be there for your clients or consumers. That doesn’t have to mean “ getting the sale” or talking about offers, in fact you need to avoid it at all cost! ( pardon the pun )

Keeping up engagement and getting a laugh should be your only agenda.

Isn’t our goal to connect with people, actually connect and make them feel something. If you have money, you are scared to spend it, if you don’t have money talking about it makes you scared, so why would companies still be pushing sales?

Interested to know what you all think, we get hundreds of comments via Facebook, Instagram and email all confirming our direction but love to hear how you are doing you!

Change is great!

We could insert so many amazing cliché quotes here and tell you to chill out but instead we want you to think about all the times in your life it looked like things were about to implode and you felt helpless!

Now look back at those moments and realise they were not as bad as you thought they were right?

If there is no change, there is no progress and growth. Change is good!

Once this is over go get your hair changed, don’t go back to the same thing, do something different just because you can!

Everything is starting to blend

A few months ago we were talking about how to blend grey regrowth so you could set yourself up for not having to do your roots every few weeks. Well we have been on this way of thinking for a while now because it’s more realistic for life as well as it simply looks better

So it’s ok you have no idea if it’s Monday or Friday, honestly who cares right now anyway. Once this is over please let’s overhaul your look and make sure that you can manage your color without being tied down to salon visits every few weeks!

It’s fine to drink at 9am, understand it’s 9pm somewhere in the world.

Quarantine hacks to loose weight!

Like most of us you have spent the last 4-6 weeks grazing like a wildebeest during the great migration trying to stack on meat for the starving months ahead. Well I guess 7 meals a day isn’t a good idea to maintain a good waistline but in my own defence it sure as hell feels good!

Aloo puri for breakfast followed by an omelette and my third chai followed by some fresh juice and fruit. A short sprint to the shower then it’s time for a sweet treat, maybe some banana bread, god knows we all have gone a little crazy with making that! A little downtime watching Netflix, while nibbling on some dried potato ( also know as chips ). A quick work out to the balcony, doing laps back and fro then time to rehydrate. You can have anything fizzy that’s got sugar, the more the better! A little chocolate is also ok.

Now a little more Netflix, snacks and time to think about lunch, maybe something fried….anything cocked in oil is great! Follow it down with fluid because all those blogs talk about hydrate hydrate hydrate so go for it!

Downtime, a little stretching while going to and from the kitchen. Important to note that warm up and cool down is important or you may pull a muscle.

Time to search for dinner recipes without getting sidetracked on all those quizzes ( turns out if I was a dog I would be a Doberman and my porn star name is Socksie turtle, that’s an entire different conversation ) ok time to cook, which is exercise in itself.

Netflix after dinner and finished the day off with some dried fruit in coco ( also known as fruit and nut chocolate)

A little stretching and the day is complete.

It’s all about perspective!

Where is the first place you will be going?

It’s over a month now and honestly the thought of the lockdown while it makes us all happy to be able to get out of the house or the living situation we are in, it brings about a level of anxiety about having to leave the house. I guess that’s normal in situations like this but just think for a moment, where will you be going?

Via Pinterest

We have all changed, life has changed and it’s a good thing. We won’t be taking much for granted now especially the most simple things that’s for sure. Will you be heading to the salon to finally get those nasty roots touched up? Will it be game on for some sexy balayagè? How about bangs? A hair fix because you attacked your own hair with the kitchen scissors or will it be simply going for a walk in the park, a quiet coffee and slice of cake at your favourite coffee shop? Head to your family and give them a big hug?

No matter what it is, the time will come very soon so get ready.

What are you eating?

It’s gone from eat everything I’m craving and wash it down with booze to I couldn’t be bothered now sitting somewhere between so hungry I would eat anything to can’t be bothered to eat. Sounds familiar?

Decided to reduce intake as the temptation to graze all day is real so better to reduce overall intake but honestly not going out of my way. If it brings you joy, eat it! If it makes you happy for even a minute do it. Your waistline will come back, your hair will look hot again and the world will continue to revolve. Chill out but make sure there is some element of healthy eating going on while in lockdown to keep your immune system functioning and giving you the best chance to fight off any illness.

Obviously if you are looking for a diet that will increase your hair growth or make your hair healthier the easiest way to have that is by eating a balanced overall diet. Yes possibly TV frozen meals or pre packaged foods are not on that list so will require a bit more work, you have the time to invest in it right now so why not!

Information is so readily available and you have so much time on free, do some research and create the perfect diet for you!

What’s the perfect hair routine during lockdown

For a lot of people who only blow dry their hair at a salon this time has been a nightmare! With so much information online, it’s an easy access to use this time to get your skills updated so you can be more self sufficient for sure, but what about trying new styles or opting for not doing anything?

We have always maintained that the cut is the most important thing to make sure you can “wash and go” it gives the hair shape and with our dey cutting technique it encourages every hair to have a purpose. Well we are closed and your locked up at home so kind of pointless to bring that up so let’s work on things you can do now at home!

Avoid excess heat tools

While you can’t get those dry ends trimmed it’s important you don’t put undue stress on already fragile hair, avoiding irons and heat unless you have too is going to help your hair get through this lockdown.

Tricks when blow drying your hair

One of the two biggest causes of frizz is nit using conditioner and blast drying your hair upside down. Hair needs conditioner every time you wash it, the cuticle needs closing or it will be left open and the internal moisture will evaporate. As far as blast drying hair upside down, we can’t stress enough this this is not going to set you up for success or extra fullness, it will lead to one big frizz ball! You blast dry on medium heat downwards, down the hairshaft and finish with COLD AIR yes COLD AIR this sets the hair, smoothies and relaxes the cuticle to give you a set closed smooth cuticle! Try it and see for yourself it works

Combing your hair whilst the conditioner is in

When you have finished shampooing your hair, remove excess moisture and condition mid lengths to ends. When the condition is in use a wide tooth comb through your hair then rinse. After it’s all rinsed, don’t disturb it too much, the hair at this point shouldn’t be aggregated too much.

If you have curly hair you might want to know some Curly hair styling tips

Once in your lifetime you need to do this!

Ok so hear me out because a lot of you have been messaging asking how to manage your hair and your bored.

So doesn’t it make complete sense since now we have until next month alone at home to get used to the new smooth look? Once in everyone’s life you need to experience the freedom of having short hair or even shaved close. It is so liberating that you can wake up and go straight from the bed to almost anywhere without having to even think about your hair, let alone do anything!

Not much help is needed and as long as you have clippers you can do it yourself anytime of the day or night you like!

People pay thousands of dollars a night for isolation

Chances are you are part of the 99% of the world and not the 1% but imagine you were for a minute. You used to book luxury destinations based on isolation and the fact there would be very few if any people around. No one beside you at dinner, the pool to yourself, hidden service staff so you felt alone. With service pre planned so you no matter what you wished for it had already been thought of so there was little or no need for human interaction. Just you and leave and quiet.

The design of these luxury hotels would be complex at the back end to make sure you never had to see people, imagine behind the walls busy with people making sure the things you were dreaming in your mind were being a ruined behind this solid wall. You would be pampered with what you needed plus what you never thought you needed but not have to deal with uttering a word! That is Luxury.

So before you start labelling this time as terrible just for one moment think how extremely lucky you are to have experienced true quiet and peace. That is if you are home alone with people you actually want to spend time with that is! If not then when things get back to normal plan yourself a holiday! Without the people you do sadly had to spend time with locked up!

My only wish is that I was on lockdown in one of these beautiful properties.

WHAT TYPE OF BREAD ARE YOU?

This quiz will determine the bread personality you are!

Via Pinterest because we don’t make bread we eat it

Seems like suddenly everyone is a chef and expert on bread making so here is a little quiz to determine what type of bread you are!

The Sour Dough

Your the type of person who would be happy to be the life of the party then suddenly disappear when it looks like it’s heading past your bedtime. You enjoy reading self help books and often quote motivational quotes as captions on your Instagram whilst dressed in your night clothes before going back to bed at 11am. You drink fresh juice but you order it online because you’re lazy. You have a lot of opinion and a lot to say but when you get past the crunch, there isn’t much to say you keep things to yourself, after all why bother with certain people right! A wild imagination with a huge appetite to travel and explore! you would post your loaf making on stories and do a proper setup for an actual post telling everyone you casually made this. Cool on social media but in real life, is this the same person?

The Multi Grainer

You think of yourself as a doer, you know so much it’s honestly a tad scary, you know fitness and health hence you choose to have some flecks of healthy looking things in your bread! You don’t mind telling everyone you workout, in fact you probable post it every chance you get #fitness or #detox life! You are the one that knows better and isn’t afraid to tell your friends whatever they are doing is wrong, honestly it’s true you know better! Doesn’t matter what you put on it, with dark flecks of healthy bits in it, this bread is life! Typically posting with Avocado and an egg with a sprinkle of chilli flakes. You are a weekend Vegan, you like to think of yourself as a “save the animals” but in private you eat anything that has legs but only post your vegan life #plantbased

The Right Said Fred White Bread

Firstly you probably won’t get that, google it! You couldn’t give a toss about the style of bread because your a risk taker, you don’t have time to choose life is short! You most likely don’t even have an Instagram account and most likely still only check twitter and retweet political stories because, well your an intellect and honestly instagram is for cats and pets isn’t it? Good luck to you, bless your sweet little heart, go toast your fluffy white boring toast with a little marmalade because that’s they way you have eaten it for the last decade! You are a creature of habit and will only sleep on a certain side of the bed! But hey you tell it like it is, so you’re cool

Bouffant Baguette

For you size matters, your life is a show! Get those OOTD photos at any cost, possibly living the big life but just on the gram! You have a lot to say but when you meet others, your personality and mouth are on lockdown. You talk a big game, often with little or no idea what you are talking about, full of couch advice and haven’t left your city since….well ever! Ideally you would eat it cut diagonally with some pre made dip and some imported cheese. After all you need to appear wise! #instalife

The World Has Gone Banana’s

Now you are the one true hero of not only the kitchen but possibly have the traits to save the planet you know your way around the kitchen but also love to mix things up and are ok if you don’t have all the ingredients. You are flexible and love being around people. You will be posting at an alarming rate images from your kitchen right now and loving the DM’s in fact that’s the food you really enjoy, self praise is like yeast and you kneed it to rise above the rest. After all you are not only a fitness, lifestyle planner you could literally do anything and it would work. #loafoftheday

Now whilst this information is 87.62% accurate you can be a combination of a few. A good few of you have been posting your kitchen success stories and god bless you for that, please for the love of god stop! Enough we don’t kneed it!

Things to do in lockdown

Whilst a lot of people want to give you “to do lists” of things you should be doing while we are all safely inside, it really doesn’t matter what you do or don’t do. Eat what you want, sleep when you sleep but most importantly be happy with what you have. This is possibly the only time in your life that you will be confined to your house, unless you do something wrong and get put on house arrest!

Try and look for the positives and that doesn’t have to be cleaning your house, baking bread or going live on Instagram! but if that makes you happy do that too.

Try and refrain from TikTok and baking bread and constantly sharing! Going live is a huge no no. Ok rest you do you.

Why not spread love and happiness? Go to random accounts on Instagram and share positive messages, imagine how that could make someone’s day! We will be spending an hour a day doing that exact thing ✌🏻💕

When I think about you, I touch myself

No one should be touching you if they aren’t already in lockdown with you, so for a large number of people it’s been a challenge!

No one is coming, doesn’t matter how many DTF or WYD text messages you send, that booty call ain’t coming so it’s time to entertain yourself.

SHOULD YOU SHAVE YOUR HEAD DURING THE LOCKDOWN

It feels like another lifetime ago when you went and got a blowout, what a luxury and in fact it seemed like routine at the time but now looking back it was in fact far from routine and boring. Chances are you, like a lot of people around the world are going a little stir crazy being stuck inside within the confines of your home. We need to understand it’s essential and we need too in order to survive.

Via Vogue Paris

No matter how many DIY videos you watch of “ how to cut your own hair” chances are it won’t be enough for you to replicate what you want so should you shave it?

We have been asked for videos to teach people to cut their own hair and whilst it may help it’s not the same and it won’t be! A visit to a salon for a blowout you can look on YouTube there are literally thousands of DIY blowout videos and to be honest, if you have the right cut it will work!

If your hair is becoming so annoying you have made it down this far and still reading, chances are you are so bored that shaving your head may just give you the laugh you need! Do it

HOW TO CUT YOUR OWN HAIR DURING A LOCKDOWN

By about now most guys with short hair will be needing a haircut and possibly looking like a something more reminiscent of a zombie movie so what do you do?

Well it would be nice if in a few short words we could teach you to cut every hairstyle ever done or teach you the tricks that took years to learn. What we can suggest is that if you can’t wait then why not shave it off? Certainly isn’t the end of the world, it’s summer coming anyway so it may be a good change, hair grows back!

If you think you should still try a DIY haircut then check these beauties out!

So if you are smart you will wait a little longer and we will all be back to normal!

Corona virus headgear for your new shaved head

We keep getting asked for various tips on how to do this or that while in the corona virus lockdown. To be honest I don’t have the products at home to color anyone’s hair pink purple or brown let alone think anyone else that doesn’t do hair would. The best thing to do to get through this lockdown with your hair is nothing. The option is either leave it or shave it off completely, relax hair grows back!

What better time do you need to do something drastic? You can dress it up with various masks and designs and guess what? You don’t have to go out in public for weeks so not anxiety when people gasp or freak out and end up offering an opinion.

How to fix your hair with ingredients in fridge

Your stuck at home like 99.9% of the global population and you are worried about split ends 🤷🏼‍♂️

The food in the fridge is for your survival not for experimenting DIY with your hair!

Wait till this is over then come see us!

Should you be washing your hair more or less during lockdown?

So you have been home 10 days or more for some, it’s no surprise you most likely have now become a high pony kinda girl and that’s ok. What we need to remember with our hair is that the growth won’t stop no matter where you are, however your scalp needs to be maintained in order to create the right conditions for healthy growth.

Washing your hair daily is ok if you use a gentle shampoo ( one that is free of SLS and always condition the ends. It’s not the washing that should scare you off doing it daily it’s the heat abuse you do afterwards that will do the damage if you over do it! Healthy scalp grows healthy hair so don’t shy away from washing it because by not, it could be creating more problems like hair loss, dry scalp, bacterial infections and bad hygiene!

Sleeping till 11 everyday and not showering till 5

A lot of us yes us have easily slipped into becoming couch potatoes and whilst it feels good to be able to have this eratic relaxed way of life, it’s not productive nor good for our mental health.

It’s been over a week we have been on lockdown in India it’s now time to fire up the engines and start getting your fire back. It’s time to get a routine that’s encouraging to bring out the best in you for you! If your struggling with lack of interaction then get on the phone and call 10-15 friends and ask them how they are doing, call your family, call your workmates and say hi. It’s not about talking negative about the situation it’s about lifting us all up! Stay positive and stay focused the comeback is going to be sweet!

If you are thinking about a haircut then maybe Read this

With or without oil?

Now in India you have all grown up being told oiling you’re hair makes it healthy, grow faster, thicker etc etc and every now and then you wonder why it feels dry still, well here is why!

The hair once it leaves the body is dead keratin and it’s not alive it’s dead, the growing part of your hair is under the skin and is feed by what’s inside your body with small elements of the growth subject to the outside world. The dead keratin ( or commonly called your hair ) can last longer looking better if we treat it the right way, so far so good and makes sense!

Now once the hair exists the body it has internal moisture on the inside and an outside layer that opens and shuts called the cuticle ( think fish scales overlapping each other ) if they are open the internal moisture gets sucked out by heat damage, pollution, chemicals, coloring incorrectly, Sun, wrong products and neglect and the list goes on.

Using oil to get a head massage you relax ( awesome ) but you maybe have forgotten oil and water don’t mix right? So what happens is even if you wash it out 1-2 times directly afterwards there are small oil particles left in the cracks and in between the cuticle. Over time more is there and with heat from the sun, our body and/or heat from styling they get sealed on the hair eventually coating it completely like glue.

Then what happens is that the internal moisture evaporates from the hair pulling the oil coating tighter onto the cuticle, making it tight suffocating the hair. At this point you have super shinny hair and are most likely convinced your hair is super healthy, the reality is far from that. The oil layer is making your hair look shinny yes, your hair is actually brittle, dry and extremely fragile.

Don’t believe us? Try getting a small amount of hair in between your fingers and rubbing it together. Hear that rough sound like sandpaper? It’s the rough coating over the cuticle.

What do you do instead of oil I hear you asking?

Well firstly oil doesn’t need a replacement as it’s not needed or desired for healthy hair firstly so relax you don’t need to replace it with anything. You do however need shampoo followed by a conditioner and if your hair is brittle maybe a leave in conditioner and a moisturiser.

When these things were used or started it was a different time, the world was different we didn’t have the Developement with products or science to know better. We do now and we know that it is not what your hair needs. If you still can’t survive without a weekly oil massage replace oil with conditioner you will thank later.

When it’s too late to change who you got locked up with

Well in case anyone thinks this is me trying to send a message you can stop right there, am blessed to be able to have access to wifi now I’m locked in the bathroom after a recent spat of name calling. It’s not that bad honestly the water is still on and given it’s summer I really don’t mind the cool marble floor, it’s kind of nice. My bad has adjusted to the firm floor and the two towels which once dried our lovely bodies together are now my mattress.

It’s a matter of perspective I think, sure the name calling was uncalled for just like the 14 nails that secure my 3 foot by 4 foot lux apartment that has wifi, running water, toilet with a bum squirter and enough shampoo honestly to last me the rest of 2020. Food could become an issue but luckily our maid is still responding to my messages on what’s app and bringing food to the window so it seems like I can manage.

Now while I joke and laugh to myself, because that’s what we all are doing now and finding yourself talking to the wall and laughing at literally nothing. Maybe you are not the sunshine that your mother told you were, maybe you are a royal pain in the butt. Maybe just maybe you could make a little effort to be a better inmate and make your jail buddy’s life a tad better.

Do the right thing and survive and be a positive beacon to whoever you are locked away with.

I’ve washed my hands so much I found the answers to my eighth grade test

After a few weeks of washing your hands and using 70%+ hand sanitizer you, just like the rest of us are feeling like we have the hands of a 300 year old caveman. Relax it’s a good sign that you actually listen and are following what we should be doing, it’s also a reminder that years ago you needed help remembering!

Moisturise 3-4 times a day, your welcome!

Looking forward to having the salon open and getting back to doing what we love.

Things to do while locked up

Let’s be honest after a few days we are all getting a little stir crazy, when we were all going to work we had a million things we thought we could do if we stayed home yet now your gone there is nothing to do! Well stop crying and let’s get a list together!

The start of your list of things you can do

Clean out your cupboards

Clean out your fridge

Arrange your makeup draw

Read one of the books you bought 3 years ago

Message your parents or a friend

Ask your neighbor if there is anything they need, you can pick it up when you go out to save more people heading out

Contact a friend who lives alone

Watch Netflix travel shows on your next holiday once life gets back to normal

Learn to cook! No better time than now!

Clean out your phone and laptop

Wah your sneakers

And yes the obvious is not have friends over or try to do anything to close to people you don’t need to be around.

Coloring your hair at home is expensive to fix

There is not one person on the planet who colors their hair that isn’t wondering what they will do, let’s be honest there is a lot more to worry about but who doesn’t want to feel good while being in quarantine! You may be tempted to try a DIY to cover up the grey or the darker regrowth but don’t!

Headed to the chemist yesterday and saw the entire shop was emptied out and the area for box color was empty which shocked me. If you color your hair at home, it can be too dark and you will end up having to do it more often than if you just waited. If you think you are going to do some highlights or go lighter, things will turn ugly really fast! The cost to color in a salon is more expensive than a DIY color true but fixing your disaster ( color correction ) can cost double or triple than the original color. It may not even be able to be fixed! Just wait, we will be open one day and when that day comes we will be ready for you!

The “No shampoo” technique for fresh hair to try while your on lockdown

Well honestly I’ve heard all kinds of weird and crazy things over the years and when it comes to home remedies honestly the bizarre stuff some people do is really eye popping! But the one trend which varies depending on who you talk too is the “no poo shampoo”

Yes it varies and let us explain our version which honestly has worked really well for several people we know. It’s basically only using half the amount of shampoo and only doing the roots, in short think only half wash your hair then rinse. It’s not for everyone and for some it can be not enough to properly cleanse the scalp but if your hair is fine it can be amazing on creating fullness!

Now if you have time on your hands, let’s be honest we know you do try googling “no poo shampoo” there is brands by the name of it, home remedies with using Baking powder, apple cider vinegar etc but we do not endorse or recommend that. We are simply saying try this technique with the shampoo you have. Wet the hair, use 50-60% less than you would normally and wash only the roots. You can work it through the ends lightly then rinse and lightly condition. It leaves your scalp and hair slightly gritty, slightly dirty without the oil that weighs it down. Try it over the next few days and let us know how you went!

Stay indoors, stay safe

It’s not what happens it’s how you react to what happens

No need to keep telling you that it’s this or that, if you don’t know you should be indoors then you live under a rock and should possible stay there! No matter what part of the world you live it’s time to stay home and do what we are told!

It’s not ideal, it’s not cool, it’s sad, it’s scary and it puts everyone’s future literally in the air. No one is spared! That’s the reality, but also everyone is in it together.

Text someone and check on them, call family to say hi, resist cutting bangs and take this time to rest, recharge and get yourself ready to be the best version of you!

Stay indoors, restrict interaction with people and do what we are told!

When they are all talk

We are fairly sure this kinda thing has happened to a LOT of you because there are people out there that just love to tell you how good they are. Maybe it’s true maybe it’s not, the reality is you won’t know unless you have a first hand experience.

It’s crazy how people can claim their own tag line like “best salon” or “most awarded salon” it’s funny because that guy who has been messaging you none stop who is so cool in your DM’s in reality doesn’t speak! Welcome to 2020, your captions are cool but sorry I gotta go!

Please note the tags we use just for the sake of irony 😂

Take it incredibly serious but don’t obsess over it, stay safe and take every precaution possible. We are open and taking extreme measure to ensure your safety.

Get the Hair Salon to yourself during the Corona Virus outbreak

We know the current situation with Corona Virus is scary, we are all worried, we need to remain calm. Whilst we have stepped up our sanitation within the salon as well as between clients we have been asked if we can offer early or after hours bookings. For those of you who would prefer to come in when there is no one else in the salon we do offer this and have done for a long time, but now it seems more appropriate than before.

If you would like to come in before we open for the general public we can arrange this only via PRIOR APPOINTMENT. Conditions apply

We also STRONGLY request if you are not feeling 100% well, show any signs of sickness that you do not visit the salon until you are well.

We are all human and have families and infection can spread to people we all care about that may or may not be able to cope as well as others. Hair can wait, life is short let’s get through this calmly and with respect to everyone. ❤️

Our main focus is hair and we continue to be a safe place for everyone and wish for everyone to respect that. We reserve the right of refusal of service and/or entry to anyone whom we feel may not have everyone’s best interest in mind.

Why humour is essential during difficult times!

We have had so many conversations about the current situation with almost everyone that comes in, the truth is no one knows for a fact what will happen, we all read the same updates and not one person is more informed than the next. Everyone would like to tell you what you should do, what you should t do, how it started, who is to blame, how to prevent it and why they are the authority of the virus. Well guess what Susan, it is what it is and if you keep rambling off your know it all nonsense I may just cough in your face for laughs.

Honestly we all have a choice in how we react, you can run around with your hands in the air screaming for your life, crying and getting scared, you can lock yourself indoors and not leave until it’s all over, you can go about your normal life with a sense of caution. It’s your choice! Whatever you decide, wouldn’t you feel better if you could laugh at yourself? Humour is in fact the easiest way to make you feel better, increases your immune system and encourages good vibes! So if you want to feel good for a few seconds or minutes please check these out!

Understand that this is incredibly serious, it’s life and death! Sanitation and keeping yourself out of public unless Essential is critical! stay safe everyone and know this was just to get you to smile 😀

What you should be doing on Womans day!

Don’t you love that there is a day for everything, a certain day to acknowledge this or that and in fact some people need it as a reminder to make that effort to be nice or say thanks to the people they love!? Crazy right. The world without women would not exist but it would also be a very sad place. We would like to thank the woman in our life for being the driving force for who we are, the values we stand for, the people we are, the people we strive to be, the standard we keep, the love they give, the role models they are, the patience they have, the perseverance, the stable strength of character, the love and support, for turning the other cheek, for not letting things slide, for calling us out, for not putting up with less, for finding things in front of us, for remembering things from 1994, for holding on tight, for letting go, caring if we are sad, not caring if we are sad, for waking up early, to sleeping in late, for having children, for not having children, for speaking your mind, for putting your foot down, for saying no it’s not ok, for raising the bar, for entering the bar, for making the effort, for being lazy and for being the better sex than us but pretending it’s not a big deal!

Happy woman’s day to every single woman! Thank you for everything you do, put up with and endure. We love each of you!

What is a Gluten Free haircut

What you put in, you get back and it’s not just food and your body we are talking about. There is no end to this principle the more you put into things the more you get back. Garbage in garbage out it’s really that simple, you can not surround yourself with idiots and expect to be exceptional just like you can’t eat fast food and expect to be 100% healthy!

Gluten free haircuts are haircuts that work, they don’t require blowdry daily, they are architecturally put together for ease of styling and require little or no fuss! They come with full instructions and little maintenance!

How to fake it

Not everyone has luscious thick healthy hair, in fact very few do but it’s about making it appear like you do. We all know people and maybe we all are guilty of portraying a different version of reality than what is most real. The truth is we all want to look the best we can do a little trick here and there isn’t going to hurt anyone!

Whilst we have grown up thinking the more you get the better the value for money but in reality it doesn’t always work that way, in fact with hair it’s about quality over quantity. You wouldn’t cut more off just because the price was high to get your monies worth or add more color just because it seemed like it’s free?
