Who decided that if you were a certain sex your hair had to be this or that, stupid and it’s changed! thank goodness
It’s time you did what you wanted, short hair, long hair, pink hair, green hair it’s your hair so why not do what you want. Now short hair on woman screams confidence, sexy and super low Maintainence which sounds like 2021 hair if you ask us!
A dramatic increase is drastic haircuts so far this year and it’s far from over! So if it’s something that’s been in the back of your mind why not just do it!
To have healthy hair you need to do a few things and none of which you can swap or change. It’s not a bargaining thing it’s facts, you can not have a good diet and only sleep 3-4 hours a day and expect to be full of energy. Just like you can not skip gym 6 days a week and have a killer body, sadly it just doesn’t work like that. Healthy hair is a combination of what you do internally and how you treat your hair once it’s outside your body.
Hair once visible is not living matter so it’s incredibly susceptible to damage and must be treated with respect in order for it to be in best possible condition.
We all want what we want, some want every chemical treatment available and yet wonder why it’s not silky smooth and healthy, well sometimes you can’t have your cake and eat it too. Healthy hair starts with you and your diet, a balanced diet that ensures your body is getting all the nutrients and fuel to be able to function and grow the best hair.
Can you increase hair growth? Reality is no, sure some will say you can because we all want to hear it but truth is you can not. Hair grows marginally faster in summer vs winter that is a fact.
If I’m growing it why should I trim it every 6 weeks?
May be obvious but in case you slept through that class, hair is dead, if you don’t remove the ends every 6-8 weeks then you will get split ends which will travel up your hair shaft and break off. Hence your hair will appear like it’s not growing or at times getting shorter. If it grows on average 1.5 inches per month you can trim 1/2 inch every 6 weeks it’s still getting longer right?!
Can I rub fruit, oil or anything on it to make it grow faster?
Um no, if you have any idea how skin works, it’s not soil and your not growing tomatoes 🍅 compost on your scalp will only give you a bacteria infection and do absolutely nothing to your hair growth!
Can vitamin supplements help?
In some respect yes, if for whatever reason you can not cover the five food groups then you can add a Su plumber to assist however again this is a last resort and not going to grow your hair faster or thicker.
The best advice is everything in moderation, make sure you have a hairstylist that will say no to you in the interest of healthy hair, don’t do something for the sake of it and always use good products.
So best thing to do is start with a good well balanced diet, good healthy lifestyle and a good night sleep!
The last 18 months life has changed and we have all taken a long hard look at who we are, what we do and who we want to be. We have seen a dramatic increase in people growing colors out, grey hair is now cool!
Actually it always was but a lot of us had a very warped impression we should all look the same no matter what our age was or no matter what your natural color was. The upkeep on coloring white hair dark is out of control, seeing some people doing it every week so no one would notice that in fact you are 90% white.
Imagine not being able to go away for 2 weeks anywhere in the world without worrying about where you would get your color touched up!? The dark color would make the light natural color look terribly obvious and constantly checking the mirror to see if it’s obvious or not.
Time has come for a more low Maintainence hair color that gives you freedom! Sure it isn’t easy to get you over the hump of looking like a neglected human but once you do it’s worth the pain!
Now before you start getting defensive and tell us all the wonderful stories your mum told you just relax. This is about facts, we don’t know your mum and am sure she is wonderful. BUT
Hair once outside your scalp is dead, the living part of hair is beneath your skin, it grows here under several layers of tissue and the base. Within the follicle stem cells divide rapidly, as new cells are formed the old ones are pushed up and form the hair shaft, the part that you eventually see. As hairs become part of the shaft, they undergo a process called keratinization, in which they become filled with keratin. So, technically, instead of being made up of pure keratin, hair is made up of dead cells that are filled with and surrounded by keratin.
So putting anything on your scalp to encourage growth is almost pointless because the work is done internally so it all comes back to your DNA and Diet. Sure a massage on your scalp may increase the blood flow to your root marginally but not enough to make a difference.
So if your onion pulp or egg won’t penetrate the skin, how is it meant to feed the root of the hair, the only part that is living? How is oil going to do anything?
Maintaining healthy hair outside the skin, it’s important to understand the following. Hair is dead and we have to keep it in the best condition as long as we can. Regular trims to remove damage from chemicals or environment, regular cleansing and not coating the hair strand unnecessarily, like oils or silicone.
Excess oil on the scalp will create a PH issue for the tissue we call scalp therefore could encourage hair fall. Oil on the hair strand doesn’t do anything other than coat the strand and can in fact dehydrate the hair by increasing the temperature of the strand.
Healthy hair is about diet, lifestyle and your DNA. Eat a balanced diet, avoid stress ( as much as humanly possible ) don’t over style your hair and get regular trims every 6-8 weeks.
Sunday is Off Day, it’s a day to reflect, a day to spend quality time with the people you care about and a day to catch up. Well that’s typically been the theory. Work like crazy and in 12 hours once a week “catch up”!
More and more people are coming to terms with that fact life has to be more about doing what you love, being with the people you want to be with than it is about making it through the week!
As the world goes in and out of lockdown I guess we are all reflecting on life, what we are doing that we love and what we are doing that we really don’t love. If you could do whatever you wanted, what would it be? Where would you be right now?
For some the answer is, exactly where you are and that’s great but for many it’s completely different. Everything from the clothes your wearing to the job your slaving too should be by choice. The hairstyle you have to how you style it or don’t style it!
Sunday hair is a look all by itself! Here is some Inspiration.
If your hair isn’t working then it’s time to get it looked at. It should maintain its shape well but the structure of a haircut will only last 6-8 weeks then it simply won’t work as well. Enjoy your Off Day
Well calm down no one is asking you to get naked, lay on a couch with pearls and be painted.
The French Bob is possibly the latest craze in the urge to become low Maintainence with our hair! Since it’s a constant fear of either a lockdown or an outbreak we all want to be best prepared and still look fresh and in fashion.
Lending itself to ease of styling it simply doesn’t demand anything g from you if it’s cut properly other than wash and go. Using the natural movement the hair has it looks hot left to dry natural or can look super sleek blown out and styled.
If you can’t go to France, then maybe it’s time to get a fresh new look!
From short to barely seen the options for guys when it comes to short hair is endless and let’s face it, in this heat who wants to be stressed about your hair anyway!
Originally a Military haircut is the “High & Tight” or the Skin fade what it’s called now is the ultimate low Maintainence haircut. Depending on how short you cut the top, you can almost certainly ditch the hair products or at the very least use little!
Honestly with everything being so uncertain, we don’t understand why you are still reading this and not getting a haircut!
Trends come and go and to be honest most don’t leave as much bad taste in your mouth as “I want to speak to the Manager” or the “Karen” haircut but why!?
Well apparently it started in the Movie “Mean Girls” in 2004 with an inappropriate racial slur by a character called Karen. It morphed and it seems to fit a certain demographic of privileged, entitled know it all, the world owes me type human. Loud, obnoxious and happily make a scene for the smallest issue thinking the worst of the world before thinking. Often seen arguing and questioning authority because she gains great pleasure for getting her way. Approach with caution ⚠️
Now sure, the name can be different and if you do get this haircut or actually have it, there are ways to tweek it so people don’t run when they see you.
BE CAREFUL THERE ARE VARIATIONS OUT THERE TOO!
If you know someone with this hair cut please be careful around them, slow movements and avoid public areas!
Well it’s our second big lockdown and although this one was incredible hard for us and so many people we feel incredibly blessed to be able to come out of it. It’s been one of the hardest few months emotionally and physically.
We could reflect on what it’s done to us and how it has changed us all and life will never been the same. Instead we are over the moon to announce we will be opening this week!
VERY LIMITED SPACES
This isn’t a sales tactic, this is reality, our salon has limited seating and we will be only having one person in at a time for the Month of June. This means that only by prior appointment and must come by yourself, on time, mask is essential for the entire duration of the service, no food in salon & no coffee or tea in salon.
What we will have is Fresh cuts, awesome blowouts and all the color you have missed out on!
So before you start calling the salon READ THIS and send us an email. It’s very simply an incentive for you to get in early and we will call you will options of times and days once we know which day we are opening.
We can’t wait to see friendly faces and help you feel good about yourself again!
Please note, extra time & charges maybe needed for color which has a larger regrowth. We share costing quote only post consultation.
You might have spent years studying, thousands of dollars on the latest clothes but if your hair doesn’t have purpose then all that money and effort has gone to waste. It’s true guys tend to be lazy when it comes to basic things like hair whilst at the same time ( in a parallel universe ) be completely obsessed over a game where a ball gets kick from side to side. Go figure!
So if you have had something that works for you, that’s great but doesn’t mean you need to keep doing the same thing for the rest of your life!
Here are some hair styles that you can put on your to-do list and help you evolve your look!
So the options are endless giving you so many opportunities to stand out and be constantly evolving your look. Hair doesn’t have to be boring guys!
We have heard it all when it comes to strange requests for an appointment and honestly some of them as crazy and extreme as they sound, don’t really surprise us. The fear and anxiety is real and we always say whatever it is that makes your feel comfortable isn’t crazy. Since early last year we took a very conservative approach to our work environment, the amount of people at any given point and the flow of people in and out of the salon.
For a large portion of the world that haven’t experienced the sheer devastation of COVID some of our *conditions of entry were considered extreme. Although not once did we apologise, we want everyone to be safe including ourselves.
Now 15 months later, on our second lockdown once we know when we can open we have a clear model that works for everyone keeping all clients and staff safe. It’s limited seating, limited appointments, no mask no entry for everyone, no walk in’s, door locked, early morning starts for anyone wanting to be the only person in the salon and extreme hygiene. So if you are searching for a place to get your hair done once we are reopen then save this post, shoot us an email or give us a call once we are open.
If you have any concerns, questions or requests please don’t hesitate to contact us, if you don’t ask the answer is always No!
We have all been there, you’ve seen a really sexy dress and it had to be purchased but moments later you realised you don’t have the right shoes for it! Or you get the perfect shoes with the perfect heal in the perfect color but realise no clothes in your wardrobe will work.
You set out to get your quick fix of retail therapy and it turns out to be more like a landslide you can’t stop.
There is little you can buy that brings you instant joy and can make you feel happy instantly without having to then purchase other things to make sure you can wear the one thing you wanted to buy! It’s a rare race and my head hurts thinking about it to be honest.
Hold on yes there is! It’s a fresh haircut or color that doesn’t need anything else to look good. Can be worn with whatever you have on now and look as fabulous. No extra shoes, no new dress needed nothing at all it’s just your hair then it’s ready to be taken out no matter what you are wearing.
So if you are like 99% of people and live to shop but have limitations then maybe once things reopen you should consider an investment in your hair.
It’s hard to know where to start, was last year worse or 2021. This year and especially the last 8 weeks has been some of the most challenging in a lot of people’s lives, for many it’s been tragic and we have all been lest feeling broken and yet we are the lucky ones. It’s tested every element of our life, emotional, physical, spiritual and financial. Sure we will heal and the scars we will get used too over time, there has been an enormous about of tragedy and an incredible spirit of community that brings so much hope and love.
As a small business and having been through 11 weeks of lockdown last year and now in our 6th week but obviously everyone’s safety comes first. Whilst we would love to be on the salon right now, we wouldn’t at the cost of someone health or life! Last year we offered pre payment of your next booking to receive 20% off and have had several clients ask if we can do this again, so here we are and have decided to offer it again!
Simply shoot us an email to [email protected] pay your advance booking fee and get 20% off once we are open. Please be aware image above is not actual the package but you will get an email receipt along with encouraging words to help you keep the scissors away from your hair. The amount you pay is for the service you will be booked in for and will block your next appointment on our priority list. If you wish to pay for more than one appointment we can arrange that too. We have had several people buy store credits for a friend who needed cheering up, which is an incredible gesture too!
By pre paying you are helping support a small business and ensures that you will have priority once we open. You will have the first choice of appointments, once we have a confirmed date you will be the first that gets called and offered a priority booking.
Write to us stating,
Your full name, phone number, the amount you wish to pay and we will email you the bank details, once the transaction has been done we will send you a conformation email.
How long since you sat in a salon chair and relaxed while your hair was being done, weeks of not months since you had your color looking fresh. It’s been weeks if not months since you had someone wash your hair. Let’s face it, the idea of transcending into a blissful state of relaxation for an hour and walking away feeling positive, loved and fresh is a dream right now.
SALONS ARE NOW OPEN
Post Lockdown Glow-Up is going to be waiting for you, what will you change?
Doesn’t matter what you do, it’s how it makes you feel that’s important. The clothes that you wear, the way you wear your hair, choose what makes you feel the best you can be. Ignore everyone else!
Seems we have been here before and we all feel the anxiety of the current situation with Corona. Whilst we have till date limited people in the salon to 2 at any given time we have now changed due to the current situation.
From today onwards you will be the only person getting your hair done or client in the salon at any moment. This is for everyone’s safety and to ensure peace of mind. As we have done till date all surfaced and tools will be sanitised between clients and everyone is wearing masks. Temperature checks before entry and door is locked so no walk in’s
One person getting their hair done at a time!
Now to make sure this works smoothly, appointments will be made and timings need to be kept. Understand if you have a booking, it blocks the entire salon so please be punctual.
All of our safety is our only concern right now. We look forward to seeing you!
Depending on who you ask, you will get various answers on haircare and what it takes to have healthy hair. Possibly the best advice will come from a qualified hairstylist even though your mother tends to know most things maybe she can sit this one out.
Healthy hair doesn’t happen by chance, it typically is months or years of good hair habbits rather than how expensive your shampoo is. Often the moment you realise you have a problem it’s too late to fix it immediately but don’t panic it’s never to late to get you back on track.
Healthy hair habbits
Regular trims are the most important thing when wanting healthy hair. Because your hair is actually dead keratin removing the ends every 6-8 weeks is needed to ensure the most stressed portion is removed and doesn’t create a split end.
Don’t over style, excessive heat will cause the hair to be dehydrated. Sure you can use serums and leave in conditioners to help protect your hair but too much is too much.
Coloring your hair is fine if it’s done in a conscious way keeping condition in mind. Going over previously coloured hair should be kept to a minimum as this will cause damage.
Your daily routine can be the cause of a lot of damage. Brushing your hair too much aggressively will cause split ends, static and lead to damage.
Now oiling your hair has been told to nourish the hair but in fact just coats the strand, leaving it with a oil film covering the hair, increasing the heat of the strand, sucking out essential moisture. It will add shine but long term leave your hair feeling dry and brittle.
Holi is a festival that celebrates life and all the color in it! Yes it can be invasive to say the least, if you are all dressed up, hair done and head on then expect some random person to think its ok to throw coloured powder or water on you regardlessly!
Now whilst if you choose to play this game, or celebrate it could be fun however if you have just had your hair done it can be a disaster that will take weeks or months to fix or it may not even be able to be!
Now a lot reading this will say there are safe colors, ones that wash out easily and yet even after experiencing this time for the last 10 years have never seen them in action. The vast majority are not designed for light hair, so whilst it may be “natural” it may still permanently stain your Sandy blonde hair pink! The reality is the lighter your hair the more the staining will occur, so yes if you have black or dark hair you will not see the pink powder in your hair only maybe on your skin for a few days until you scrub it off!
Imagine you have spent good money getting your color done and a few hours in the Salon and finally your loving your hair only to get it ruined by a random stranger throwing coloured powder on you? How can you prevent it?
Reality would be to stay inside but if thats not an option we suggest the following
• Don’t wash your hair for 2 days prior
• Load up your hair with a wax or paste before heading out, this will help give it a slight protection
• Cover with a scarf and tie it tightly, making sure that the ends are undercover also
• Hairspray over it will also prevent staining to some extent
All of this is not 100% however it may help somewhat but obviously being out of that situation is better than anything listed here!
After the day is over and you are back home, use a clarifying shampoo on DAMP hair not wet, wash it 3 times to remove the color and condition.
Obviously it would be a great thing if people respected other people and did not throw random color on people, however until then being cautious is always better!
If you have been stained and its risking ruining your mojo then give us a call and lets have a look at it to see what can be done!
If there was ever a moment in time that getting a haircut that was zero maintenance it’s most definitely now!with work from home being the normal it’s a stretch to think of spending time doing your hair when most likely you aren’t even showing your face on zoom calls anyway.
Creating the right texture in the cut to utilise your natural flow of the hair can literally change the way the hair sits! Now sure it’s not like you can make straight hair curly but it’s about making the best of what you have. It may be a certain shape and length would work better snd encourage the hair to behave better. It may mean creating texture by adding less weight or more in certain areas.
Handy hint or word of advice would be stop touching your hair so much, typically when you try too much you end up creating frizz or the wrong movement and the structure goes for a toss! Use the right products and apply them gently rather than brushing or combing your hair too much.
It starts with getting the right haircut which will be the foundation to getting a wash and go look!
In the last 12 months we have all changed and whilst we can never go back to the way things were, we have to adjust and evolve. However we have to look after ourselves and the way we feel more now than ever. If you feel good, you have extra energy and a better attitude!
So while things used to be very different we have to find ways to make the current situation work in our favour and to be the best version of you possible. It could mean buying yourself a new top or simply blow drying your hair, whatever works for you.
If you feel like it’s time to get yourself out of the funky mood that has clouded over you for the last 12 months maybe a fresh haircut would do the trick!
First you see it on a celebrity, next a friend and you start to think maybe it would look good on you. A few weeks later random people on social media are wearing it now it’s spreading faster than bad news!
By now you know you must try it, but will it look the same on you? Will it look as good?
Everyone is different and while some trends are universal whike other depend on the individuality of the person.
With hair trends not everyone suits white platinum blonde hair nor everyone can achieve it. Hair texture condition and history is very different so it’s not always achievable nor desirable. Get a consultation before you decide that balayagè or a pastel color is right for you!
Colouring hair is as much about selection and current state of the canvas as it is about placement. The art of doing less for more impact is smart and essential if you want to have healthy hair. Shadow coloring is about placement of color to help other colors pop. Can be that you want to go lighter or it’s too gold so adding a darker ash element helps give the illusion that the existing color is lighter and not gold.
If you have an off white wall beside a white wall suddenly the off white wall looks very off white. Now put the off white wall beside a dark brown or black wall suddenly it looks completely white. It’s an illusion but it works every time! Same concept with hair, to get the blonde to look blonde
Balayagè started out as a merging of colors that blend rather than a overall lightening effect. You can vary the density of color however it you want low Maintainence then for darker tones naturally it’s best to limit the exposure.
Now shadowing color on the roots or smudging blends the root color ( your natural color ) through to give you a blended tone change from roots to ends and can be done to correct or blend a regrowth or to help grow out your color. If you want to grow out a solid color whilst still using the color on the mid lengths and ends this is a great way to do it!
So before getting balayagè check the variations as there are many but most of all make sure you know if you want solid or a more broken up result.
We have been overwhelmed with the amount of people who are tired of covering the grey or “ white” hair and honestly we love it! Imagine all the free time and extra money you will save! The thought of not having to plan your life around regrowth.
Once you have decided, now the hard part of actually managing and navigating your way out in a way that leaves you feeling human. It can be confusing and you will most likely get conflicting advice so expect it. There is no easy way that won’t leave you question your decision several times so it’s important you are strong. A lot of times, white hair or natural hair is more flattering than a blanket coverage!
It’s a long journey if you have length, especially if you have a darker color, the contrast can be huge and you will be tempted to fall but don’t!
Here are a few ways to help you through the transition
If you have just started it’s ok there are things you can do now to help the process. Depending on how dark you have been colouring it as to what needs to be done but for argument sake imagine it’s 80% white and you have been colouring it brown or dark brown.
Within a few weeks you will be hit with white roots so if you wanted to lighten the overall hair now is the time to do it. If you wait and try to do this later you will end up with not as clean of a canvas, better to lighten the ends or darker hair now slightly (1-2 shades not more )
Now the next step can be either simply leaving it grow out or transitioning with color. How it’s done with color is by continually coloring the regrowth, slightly lighter each time ( 1/4-1/2 shade ) and have it translucent rather than a solid coverage. Once you get used to seeing the white hair stained the next step of seeing it natural won’t be so stark!
Be warned that along the way someone will say get some lowlights. Now tgis may be a hood idea for you and that depends from person to person but if you are planning on growing it out, doing another process at the roots that you ultimately have to grow out too is counter productive.
Remember match the tone, white hair looks grey, it’s white! It gives an ash look so the color on the ends needs to be ash or it will have too much contrast with the roots.
Good luck and if you need help, feel free to reach out to us.
A lot has made us change habits and for some we were already doing some of the things we all know expect and love. Having to pick up the phone or wait until certain hours to interact with a business is something honestly not many want to do nor really have too any more. Not sure about you but I want to be able to do what I want almost 24 hours a day!
Now before you slide us a DM at 3am expecting a reply I can assure you, it’s most likely coming until the sun comes up. However chances are in daylight or the early hours of both night and day, you will in fact not only get a reply but in most cases be able to make bookings. Yes I know right, it’s crazy. Whilst we are still waiting back from a DM last October from a restaurant wanting to know if they do take away, I guess it’s easier to get a haircut than it is to order food online.
So if you have a burning question, a sudden need to book your color, or simply want to drop by and say hi then do use either Instagram or email and book your next appointment.
Firstly this is not a shaming post, it’s simply to help understand what layers are. Layered hair is when the top hair is shorter than the hair that is closest to the floor, it’s that simple. You can have long layers, short layers or uniform layers.
The longer the hair, the longer the layers need to be to maintain bulk on the ends and avoid it looking thin. If it’s too bulky on the ends then the layers can be slightly shorter or even sliced into. You can not count layers!
A common mistake is the thirst for fullness and love for length. Whilst while styling you can try to encourage both if the weight of the hair is heavy the length will no doubt weigh it down. Cutting the layers short when the hair is long will look odd and give it a look that there is two haircuts happening.
Seemless layering gives movement and helps build volume and the length of your hair and the density determines how short the layers can be for it to work!
A good rule of thumb is the shortest layers need to be 1/2-3/4 of the overall length. Need help? Let us know
Nothing really surprises us any more, things mutate, things evolve. One minute you’re just friends next minute drunk in a hot tub celebrating your anniversary. Nothing stays the same and everything changes, that’s a good thing too!
So when it comes to hair and what’s in trend it slowly changes and evolves into something that looks similar but with modifications. The Mullet has been around for years and emerged during the rock and roll era giving it a very DIY cut look and lends itself to a very easy look to do.
Then it became a very shaggy way to just have hair that you could wash and go. Depending on the texture but ideal for slightly wavy or curly hair.
Now with the last 12 months being the DIY era and a lot of salons around the world closed the Step Mullet has re emerged as the DIY mutated mullet and we are living it. It’s been around for a few years and lends itself to a DIY it grown out bangs.
There has never been a better time for change than there is right now. Ending relationships that are going nowhere, moving towns, facing things that you have managed to put off your entire life.
Some interesting facts, hair grows and having something different, it won’t last forever but it will transport you to another head space and add a little fun into your life. Given that most sensible people stayed home and didn’t do much on New Years it may be just the trick. If you are thinking about change then give us a call, have a consultation with us and work out what it is you will do to make yourself feel good about your reflection. Maybe it’s tweaking, maybe it’s going natural and stopping coloring the grey hair or maybe it’s a completely different look.
Knowing where to get advice greatly changes the quality of the reply. Ask a friend about your aches and pains will result in a quick webmd search and a possibly random reply. Ask a doctor, the possible chances of getting the correct answer increases dramatically.
It seems like we need to lay a few rules down sadly to make sure we all are on the same page. Our main goal is to be a safe place for everyone, which includes us as well as you and everyone else we see!
Yes a lot of similar places let you take your mask off, drink coffee, order food and maybe not even wear one while you take a photo or maybe the salon you go too wants to take your photo without a mask for “ just a minute” well sorry that’s not us. We care more about your safety than getting an OOTD photo. We want to stay open, we want you and your family to be safe and we want ours to be safe also. So here goes!
No mask No Entry
Your temperature will be checked and you will need to sanitise your hands upon entry.
Bookings are limited so pls be on time, 5 min +|- is understandable but more than that will inconvenience the entire salon for the entire day. If you know the time you booked in for pls be on time.
We don’t make you wait, please don’t make us wait! If you are late most likely your appointment will be cancelled and you will need to reschedule and payment in advance may be required.
Mask has to stay on the entire time in the salon
No take away food
No water or coffee, tea is available in salon or to be consumed.
No showing us your face, if we need to we will ask for a face selfie from your phone.
You can wear your mask but if we are colouring pls wear one that is disposable or ask and we will provide one for you.
We hope you all understand that spending 2 hours getting your hair done with us means keeping your mask on and being in a safe space. We have maximum 2 people at any time all following the rules, let’s keep it that way! If you want to try any of the above you will be asked to leave immediately without ANY hesitation and not be invited back!
Looking forward to seeing you and if you feel like you would like the salon to yourself, we can block it out for you by prior arrangement just give us a call!
For bookings either call us Monday – Saturday 10-6pm or Dm us on social media.
We all want a change, it’s not been the easiest years so changing the way we look is possibly the only thing we can do so why not get your hair done, change the color or cut it off!
Balayagè is a great technique to give you variation that’s super low maintenance and doesn’t involve monthly visits to get touched up. now whilst it’s a super versatile technique it’s limitations are based on your hair & your expectations of the end result. The darker the hair the more limits you have in a general sense as to the tone you can easily achieve. The darker the hair the more red or gold pigment is in your hair. And creating an ash overtone on dark hair ( black or dark brown ) requires several applications, which can’t be done using this technique. Balayagè can be beautiful and natural whilst keeping the integrity of the hair in good condition. However it’s important to know and understand it has its limitations and so does your hair.
We suggest getting some reference images together with you and have an in-depth consultation with your hairstylist on how you can achieve it without destroying your hair!
Chances are you saved up for the color of your dreams and spent hours sitting in the salon and you have finally made it! Now how long will it last?
The farther away from your natural color you go the faster you will see the roots growing out. Often the following day from going platinum blonde you will see your dark roots already visible 24 hours later. With white hair ( grey ) that you are coloring you will see them the same way in 24 hours. Hair is continuously growing so the roots will appear no matter what you do.
The closer to your natural color you keep it in depth and tone the less Maintainence you will have.
Always discuss your ideal hair color with your hairstylist so there is no surprises.
With everyone’s anxiety levels higher than ever it’s no wonder we are all putting off living. Making the simplest decisions suddenly have become a decision based on safety. We get it! The last thing anyone wants to do is be in a crowded space indoors!
On the outset just to update everyone we have maximum 2 clients at any point and it’s by prior appointment ONLY. We are now blow drying but if you don’t feel comfortable we won’t just let us know in advance. Every surface is sanitised between every single client and everyone is wearing a mask for the duration of the visit as well as the entire team every minute of the day!
If you want to come in alone and be the only person in the salon, obviously the person cutting your hair, let us know as this is available by prior appointment also. Limited slots daily and can be done early in the day.
At the end of the day we know how you feel because we feel it too and no matter what requests you have to feel better we are happy to take them on board. The main purpose is delivering beautiful hair, making you feel good in the safest possible environment for all.
Simply call us on 01141010011 or Dm us on social media.
There is always a lot of talk about things you can do yourself at home to make sure your hair is healthy. It’s hard to know what to believe or not to believe.
When it comes to a cold rinse, it does help soothe the cuticle and reduce the swelling of the hair marginally. Warm water swells the hair and is obviously more comfortable to shower in than cold water. Even the thought of a cold rinse is making us get chills. Will it help with the frizz, well yes slightly.
It’s possibly not worth the risk of catching a cold during winter so you can skip it. What you may want to adapt and try is after your blowout on each section blasting it with cool air, this does the same thing but also sets the hair the way you want it. It’s hot or warm air that dries it and the cool air in fact sets it!
Ever had an important meeting or function and the grey hair is poking out making you feel a little old? Hair mascara can be used ( typically ) but if it’s hot or you are under lights, add a little perspiration and…..
So before you try this and end up being the laughing stock of the planet, plan ahead and get your color done!
Moral of the story is, mistakes happen to everyone even Donald Trumps lawyer! Also don’t try to cut corners to save time, do it right the first time
A lot of guys tend to let the hair grow in order to cover it up or comb it over so they feel like they have more hair. Loosing your hair can be traumatic or emotional & understanding it’s somewhat out of your control due to hormones can be hard for some to embrace. Your hair doesn’t make you the person you are, in fact it has as much of a contribution as what clothes you wear. It’s your personality that speaks volumes about who you are. So in short don’t stress it’s not the end!
Getting the sides shorter exposes some skin therefore makes it look like there is less hair or density. Doing this matches the exposure to skin on the top so rather than looking like your going bald it looks like it’s meant to be!
So before you start holding on for dear life to a thin mane get some advice on how to make it look thicker!
Ever wondered why your hair ends up gold everytime you color it?
The darker the hair the more warm pigment it has in it. When you lighten the hair even slightly the warm pigment is visible. So when you do highlights unless you go light enough to eradicate all the warmth you will at some point need to have a plan to reduce it, maybe not now but down the line.
Now there are limitations to the extent you can remove based on hair condition and actual color but no matter how far it’s gone it can be softened. you may not even need to color it, it could be as simple as using a toning shampoo. So the best thing to do is have a consultation and work out what needs to be done. Remember the more color or chemicals you do the more warmth typically will show itself.
Chances are no one is going to tell you, you will be bombarded with omg I love your shoes but how often have you had compliments about your hair?
Now we are not saying your hair does look bad and if you can take the attention of the neglect with a nice pair of shoes you deserve a slow clap. However it may be easier to simply order new shoes online versus navigating an appointment and going to the salon. We get it.
Before ordering your next pair, why not make a booking to get your hair done?
Ever wondered how some people go from one style to the next and it seems like it changes overnight?
It’s not some magical potion that makes the hair grow, it’s rather having a hair plan from one style to the next. It’s about having a long term plan or vision that you plan certain areas of your hair and color in advance so the style evolves and the shape of your styles grows into your new look.
Growing out a bob and bangs by slightly layering gives the illusion it’s longer then before you know it, it’s hitting your ahoulders and it’s suddenly not a bob but in fact it’s been a planned change.
If you want to change your look and are wondering how without a drastic change suddenly then come talk to us so we can get a hair plan in place for you!
With everyone being scared and anxious on stepping outside we all are looking for options on how to live life, it’s reality. Calling someone home to get things done seems safe but is it actually safer than leaving your house?
Would you order food from a cloud kitchen or someone’s house where the possible protocols are not followed vs buying it from a restaurant in which they are trained to ensure safety? Or a Restaurant where cleanliness is trained daily
Everyone has a different opinion but we feel being in a controlled environment where everything is monitored is safer than risking various degrees of “clean & safe”. Now whilst everyone says there house is clean, sanitation is done the best yet everyone’s version of safe and clean is completely different. I know people who will not even open the front door and others who have people over every night, both are clean but both have very different versions of being safe. By getting someone into your house that may have been to others homes is basically putting you in the same position as the least careful person that they have been in contact with.
It’s not how clean and careful your house is ( we are sure it is clean ) it’s about having the environment that is controlled. Having a space that daily has protocols before and after someone’s leaves with a group of people that are trained and have a system to sanitize correctly is safer than when a visitor is less frequent.
It’s not your house, it’s the one before and the one before that which should concern us.
This is not meant to be scare tactics, simply opening thought as to which is safer. We have set out our safety protocols and ensure the area is sanitised before and after every guest. With one person at a time and restricting entry we have maintained an environment that is safe.
No secret that 2020 has had its challenges and if we are honest Hair isn’t the worst thing that has or could have happened. But now it’s become aware that some instead of growing length, it’s reducing. We have in the last few months seen more amount of hair than ever, some going from long to short, dramatic changes and some holding on to death life the length they have.
Split ends happen for a few reasons, excessive heat when styling, over processed chemical treatments, blunt scissors when you last had it cut, lack of regular trims.
The ends split as the centre hair structure is left exposed and is prone to being damaged over time. If it’s regularly trimmed then any fragile ends are removed and giving it a fresh lease of life!
Can you remove split ends with product? NO
The only thing that removes a split end is a pair of scissors, your hair should be trimmed regardless of what your hair goal is, every 6-8 weeks. If not you could end up with multiple splits which will eventually break off and you will end up loosing length not gaining it. The split keeps travelling up the hair shaft until it breaks off, then a new one appears and so you end up with shorter hair over time!
We all know someone that when asked what they feel like to eat they reply with “ anything” yet they don’t mean anything. Describing a mood or a color is not always the easiest task. You want to feel relaxed but not so relaxed your almost sleeping, you want it blue but not bright blue.
To be able to achieve the goal color for your hair it involves a conversation that requires some in-depth Q&A about exactly what you have in your mind. Now obviously the best thing to do would be to have some reference images to help you and we would always suggest 2-3 images of your ideal color.
Saying you want a powerful blonde means different blonde depending on who you ask. Similarly if you say short to someone with a shaved head the image in the mind will be different to than if you ask someone with hair halfway down their back.
If you say pink to someone, any of these could be passed as being pink!
All completely different colors but yet the same.
We believe that there is an image in your mind as to what color you want your hair, the perfect color. It’s our job to get that image out and the plan how to achieve it. It’s not the name you call the color we are interested in, it’s your image of that color we need to find.
Consultations are the key to a successful salon visit no matter what. If there are no questions being asked, chances are one of you is in for a surprise!
Well it’s already practically September and it’s been anything but a normal year for all of us. Nothing is what it was no matter how hard we try it’s just not.
Now we reopened after being closed for 11 weeks and want to make sure that not only us are safe but also you, with all of the suggested safety measures in place we added one more which has been adopted in other countries.
With every part of the salon operational ( bar your cuppacino ) we chose not to do blow drying for a very good reason.
Air is pushed and sucked all around your face, our face and all through the salon, ( and we know it’s remote ) we do not want to risk any element of your visit for a simple blow dry. Sure it may be revealed later that we were wrong but it’s better to be safe than sorry and am sure at the end of the day you and your families feel the same.
Now we have heard some saying it’s not the same, well it’s not but what we do know is that the cut or the color is the most important factor and with using our super absorbent disposable towel we manage to get 85-95% of the moisture out of your hair. Structurally your haircut is done in such a way that it will hold its own with or without a blow dry so you can relax knowing that it has the ease of styling in its foundation.
We look forward to giving you a blow once things settle down and they will in time.
For some it’s 14 days for others it may be 22 days yet for the majority it’s in the 5th week after visiting the salon that they notice it needs attention.
To maintain the shape of your style you need to be trimming it every 6-8 weeks, for guys it’s 5 weeks as typically the hair is shorter so it’s more obvious that it is getting out of shape slightly faster!
If you are growing your hair you still need to trim it every 6-8 weeks also but obviously trim less than has grown to make sure and damaged ends are removed and the hair looks it’s best!
The easy answer is an obvious YES! In fact a lot of the time the results are STUNNING!
Any preconceived notion you have about boys should have short hair and girls should have long hair, is outdated and wrong! In fact short hair on woman screams confidence, self assured and a no nonsense personality. Let’s check some out!
So if you have always wanted to shave your head the question now is why not do it!
You have heard of high Maintainence people but can you imagine spending this much on your hair?
It has to be made up for sure right? This urban myth is actually a reality for a select few and the surprising break up will shock you and wonder why you have been doing your hair in salons like you have been!
So how can anyone spend that much a month on hair?
Here is the breakup
Accommodation $ 734
Hair color 3 times $927
Haircuts twice $320
That is without charging for the 4am boarding charter flights or the 1am touch up’s before heading home for the day! So plus between 60-120% on outcall rates then add additional hours whilst the hairstylist is outside the salon.
Sure sounds fancy but when you consider the actual hair cost is fairly low, so if you own a hotel and have a private plane then it’s really a nominal amount that can keep you locked up inside your home and get everyone to come to you!
Not sure about you guys but we are ok to head to the salon whenever there is time, also happy to wait until when appointments are available.
If you think it’s just a few that live like this, you are grossly misinformed! This is not a privilege of rare few celebrities it is in fact more common that you think.
If you always do what you’ve always done, you will always get what you already got.
Sometimes to get the things we want we have to break a cycle of doing things that in some cases, cause the opposite. No one wants to hear that the things they do are wrong but sometimes we need to be told. If you are constantly eating junk food, no exercise and sleep erratically the chances of you being the most healthy are fairly slim. Good habits create results if continued long enough.
Now let’s talk hair! When you shampoo your hair, the mission should be to cleanse your scalp so it’s not about rubbing the hair too much rather it’s about massaging the roots and then working it through the ends. You rinse well to make sure all the shampoo is removed. Then you Squeeze out excess moisture!
Then you apply conditioner on ends and work it through to the mid lengths not the roots or scalp. Conditioner is for your hair! Using a wide tooth comb starting from the bottom comb through to the roots to remove any tangles. Rinse well and not aggressive then don’t touch your hair.
A lot get out of the shower flip hair upside down and wrap a towel! DO NOT DO THIS! It creates unwanted tension and friction on the hair. Imagine you want to avoid frizz yet you place your hair upside down twisted into a towel expecting it to sit frizz free when it’s out and down? Never goi g to happen!
Once out of the shower, gentle pat dry your hair in the position it’s in, add some leave in conditioner or serum as required and only using fingers place it where you want it. If you use a styling product go ahead and gently put that in but avoid touching it much at all.
These few habits will help you manage your hair in between trips to the salon as well as daily.
Netflix has currently 36,000 hours of content which means around 2,500 days of watching non stop. Now if you take sleep into consideration of about 8 hours that means it’s going to be very difficult for you to ever finish everything available. Daily hours are adding so you may as well give up now!
You most definitely can’t say, there is nothing to watch or you have seen everything because it’s simply impossible!
The classic tale of how Netflix got its start is that of CEO Reed Hastings, who was charged forty dollars in late fees when he rented Apollo 13 and kept it beyond its due date, keeping for six weeks. As the story goes, his wife was getting fed up with his incessant behavior of keeping movies far beyond their due dates, racking up huge late rental fees. It was told that Hastings had misplaced the video and didn’t want to tell his wife. He questioned himself about whether he was really willing to compromise his marriage over a late fee. On his way to the gym, he ascertained that the gym had a much better business model; you paid a set amount and could then work out as little or as much as you wanted.
Every now and then things change and considering you have a fair amount of time on your hands, we’re glad you finally made time to read this!
This isn’t necessarily new but it’s morphed into the egirl or two tone color which has endless options and choice! So if you want something new then maybe this is a good way to get some inspiration for your new hair!
If you want a change then give the salon a call on 01141010011
Our hair holds a lot of weight in emotional value and it’s not a new thought. For years after a breakup or sudden trauma a lot turn to a drastic change to help deal with things and can often be looked at like you are loosing your mind but has a huge relief for most.
Famously Britney Spears back in 2007 walked into a salon in the middle of a divorce and struggling with many personal demons and shaved her hair off. Some would say it’s extreme while others look at it as incredibly liberating. Whilst some psychologist like Rebecca Newman based in Philadelphia says it gives you an immediate boost of Oxytocin which is more commonly known as the “cuddle hormone” which is released by the pituitary gland. This hormone immediately makes you feel good and is similar to a good hug, a romp in the sack or the feeling of love.
We have seen over the years men and woman coming in after a personal trauma getting a drastic new look and loving it months later but at times we talk in-depth about the decision and find that it may need some more thought and a day or two for the to be sure.
In varies movies after a tragedy or trauma many will go drastic to shed the outer self and create a stronger exterior like Jodie Foster in “The Accused” or Deb from the the 1995 “Empire” shaves her head to be seen and become visible. It’s a very personal experience with everyone wanting to do it for various reasons.
So far 2020 has been anything but relaxing we have all had a lot of trauma and stress no matter how you look at it or who you are so increased hairfall is incredibly common right now along with a lot of people taking the opportunity to change the way they look. After all why not!
It doesn’t have to be a break up, a tragedy or something specific but it’s important to get the right advice and have your hairstylist get you in the right headspace to create something you love and won’t be wanting to grow out moments after you leave the salon!
Very few are taking holidays and let’s face it, the thought of heading away sounds great, it also sounds traumatic! Get your dose of OXYTOCIN free with every haircut
The task of going from dark to pastel colors is one that is shadowed in mystery and hidden agenda. We have tried to make things straight forward for you so taking the decision more informed.
Firstly it’s not a “quick” process nor is it cheap but we will tell you it can be stunning if done right! Going platinum is not a quick task and can take Months
Our co founder Merrylin wanted a pink egirl fade so we took the challenge. Her hair hadn’t been coloured for years so it was completely natural.
We only did two sections from the top of the ear to the corner of her bangs. It was lightened from roots to ends for approx 35 min, rinsed and dried then re applied leaving our roots for another 30 minutes. We then wanted to let the hair rest for a few days and the swelling on the cuticle layer to subside.
The condition was great so we toned it lightly adding a soft ash gold to take the raw look off it. The few days rest would ensure the hair is not going to be damaged.
But we want to have a pastel color so we need to remove all the warmth out of the hair, putting the pink over it begore the toner above would not have given us a clean color. Fading the pink to white would have been a fairy tale. So away we went after 3 days and re lightened it leaving out the roots for another 30 minutes. We rinsed blast dried it and applied the pink fade and here is the result.
The pink is intense and the roots and fades towards the ends and we think it looks hot! Maintenance is simply refreshing the pink every 10-12 washes and the blonde will grow out which will add to the effect and most likely we won’t do. Let’s see!
Wondered how some people color their hair every month different colors?
A lot of the references you have saved either in Pinterest or Instagram is possibly manipulated more than you were in your previous relationship. Yes fake, completely computer generated or adjusted to look better on line. Now is it wrong? It is if you are expecting your hair to go from black to blonde or platinum in one application as it’s fairly unlikely if you want hair left on your head!
Keep getting references there is nothing wrong with that, the reality is expectations are linked to the current state of your hair. If it’s been getting coloured black or dark brown for years and you suddenly want platinum blonde it’s going to be a task. Not impossible but also not done in one day.
Another important thing to understand whilst everyone loves DIY every brand has a different way of naming colors. For example one brand may call a color dark blonde and the same looking color in another brand may call it chocolate brown. It’s completely different!
Sure there is a lot of lightening assistance or additives that can be used but hair structure limitations are there no matter what you do. If you rush a platinum blonde you most likely will be back in 3-4 days as the gold or yellow pigment will end up exposing itself as the warm color molecule within your hair will expand after the process days after the color is done!
Give us a call get yourself an appointment and let’s create a realistic color for you that you can manage.
For many around the world, the idea of working from home sounds great but completely useless if you are in the service industry, there appears like not a lot you can do from home. It’s a great time to get fit, learn something online or think of ways to pivot your business for the future.
We are blessed to meet some people who have used this time to actually start businesses and are booming! We had one client who has started an Indian snack business and has now 20 staff and small factory, a friend launched a healthy smoothie bowl business and is booming now. The stories are widespread and teaches us to think outside the box. There are opportunities right now that most can’t be bothered or simply don’t know how too take advantage of.
I know boredom and anxiety set in from day one for most including us, the thought of indefinite lockdown was daunting. Eleven weeks indoors in the end with restriction of movement limited to buying food and that’s it. We spent hours every day creating content for our website that was relevant for now and maintained interaction with our clients via Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp.
We had 321% increase in web traffic which in return we all know that means more business, more visibility and entertained us at the same time. Two months later we have maintained the traction and have inevitably changed the course of our business. through smart planning and a little research a lot things can be done or learnt in your underwear from the couch, bed or in front of the TV
Before you find excuses look for solutions and a way to make the current situation a positive. If you need help or ideas reach out to a friend or a company and ask for help, now is not the time to watch re-runs of friends or your favourite 90’s sitcoms.
Let’s be real, we have all had so much free time this year and for a lot we also had a huge “to do list”. For many the list looks much the same and that’s ok because we all have our limits. If you have been pondering what is the fresh new haircut you can do then guys this haircut could be your 2020 uptick!
The new CREW CUT or the Fade!
We hear the same problem from guys all the time, hairlines look messy, the sides cover the ears in a week or so and it only lasts a few weeks if your lucky. Well given you still have a list of things you need to tackle we want to keep this short!
Here are some options that not only look fresh, current but cool and super low maintenance haircuts that you guys will love!
The choice is yours, but one thing is for sure this is possibly the most low maintenance haircut for guys you will ever have!
You want a haircut and you want it done right so who do you choose? The ones that claim to be the best? The biggest? The most luxurious salon in Delhi? Do you choose the salon that has the most locations? The one that has the most services? The salon that has the most celebrity clients?
Let’s be honest, it’s not that easy. It’s a matter of finding a salon & stylist that gets you, understands the language you speak, your ideas and your vision for your hair and you can talk freely with. It’s not about the awards, it’s not about how many “outlets” they have or the celebrity clients, it never has been! It’s about the personal skills along with the technical skills. You need both, not just one.
The best way to find that salon is start with the internet, look at the website and see if it’s about selling multiple services, packages, discounts or if it’s about hair, styles new ideas thoughts colors etc. you will instantly get the vibe if it’s for you or not!
Getting the right hairstyle for you that works is all about getting the right information and making the right choices. Then obviously getting the right professional to execute it. Your Faceshape is unique and perfect so stop searching for ways to change it, it’s a matter of creating the right shape, texture and color for you.
From colouring certain sections lighter or darker you can change the appearance of your face or take attention away from an area you don’t overly like. Changing something like the part changes how the eye views the overall image. It’s not about deception, it’s about creating the right illusion that best fits you!
Now whilst this is not foolproof and combination face shapes are not only possibly but are very likely on most people. If in doubt as to what works and what could enhance your overall look, book yourself in for a consultation with us.
Yes to make life easier we have started consultations via FaceTime or WhatsApp. So if you are unsure about what to do with your hair without having to come in and have a lengthy conversation about it, considering the anxiety behind stepping out maybe this is ideal time to discuss your next color or cut whilst sitting at home.
Trouble knowing what’s right but you’re bored then getting advise without stepping out of the house!
Give us a call on 01141010011 and we can schedule a consultation with you!
Appointments and times vary depending on availability.
Honestly we have tried telling you to stop stocking up on product for the sake of it, buying just because you think it will be the one product that will change your life. Maybe it will be maybe it won’t.
To have the right products that work for you and your haircut takes trial and error to some extent but there has to be a limit. We have stopped selling products to people like you, we request you get a bag and bring it all in so we can decide what you should use and what you should give away.
Enough is enough!
If this sounds like you then go get the bag, fill it up and give us a call. Advice is free but the storage you are wasting in your house is honestly annoying and wasteful.
Well this year has been one for the books that’s for sure! whilst we have all had time to reflect and let’s be honest there are better things to do that spend useless time in the bathroom pushing and pulling your hair into place. We believe Hair should compliment your overall look and lifestyle not over consume you.
How do you get your hair to be more natural? Well it all starts with the right cut, creating texture or encouraging the right ease of movement happens with the cut. Creating the right texture to enhance and control the curl or movement of the hair happens when you cut it.
What products should you use? Well ideally very few, if the cut is correct for your hair then very little product is needed. Saying that a little help can go a long way, a leave in serum, a moisturiser may be all that is needed depending on your hair.
What is a low maintenance hair color? Balayagè is perfect for super low Maintainence and ease of growing out, blended and only 3-4 shade variation is perfect.
If you have high maintenance hair and are over it, book yourself in and tell us what you currently do and what you would ideally want to do and we can create something that works specifically for your hair and lifestyle.
So the rain is here, well kind of once it makes up it’s mind and the humidity has kicked in. Time for your sexy crisp curl to go for a toss and hello to frizz!
Well let’s try and help, some know these already and some may not so hope they help!
#1 DON’T DO
Don’t brush your hair dry, comb with a wide tooth comb with your conditioner in then don’t brush it or comb it again. It will cause electricity build up in the hair, creating static and frizz!
#2 DON’T DO
Avoid any product with alcohol in it, typically setting products like gels or mouse was the alcohol dehydrates the hair.
#3 DON’T DO
Don’t get out of the shower and shake your head like a German Shepard, it’s only going to make it go crazy frizzy, once the conditioner is rinsed off you need to handle with care, pat dry don’t rub or shake at all! Do not put your head upside down and shake it.
#4 DON’T DO
Don’t put oil on your hair or scalp, oil and water don’t mix so no matter what you will be left with a residue which will amplify heat causing your hair to look shinny but in fact become frizzy and brittle. Use water soluable products, your hair is craving moisture
#5 DON’T DO
Don’t skip appointments to get your hair trimmed, you should be trimming it every 6-8 weeks to remove split ends.
It’s hard enough to worry about everything day to day but holding on to a style or the color your hair was 15 years ago is most likely making you look older than you are!
Forget medical enhancements to get you looking fresh and youthful, your hair can drop years just with a few small changes that are super easy. Below is your checklist and solution to give you a guide.
Your Hair is too Long
Now by too long it’s not our love for short hair we are pushing rather that Gravity not only pulls things closer to the floor, long hair can drag the look of your facial features down, making you look older, tired and overall not fresh. Leaving hair uncut for months can lead to split ends which leaves you with thin and looking tired.
Trim your hair regularly and get a fresh consultation. Often we treat a hair appointment like it’s buying fruit, you end up with the same thing time after time without reassessing what’s working and what’s not. Visit your hairstylist every 6-8 weeks.
Your Color is too Dark
Not sure how you got here but you did, your hair is too dark! In the battle to cover white hair you have ended up with a mono tone color that is too dark for your skin tone, it lacks dimension and looks dull.
The More white hair that comes, the more you should shift your color slightly lighter, you can add baby lights and slowly take the base color lighter over time. It can’t change overnight but you can correct the course to a more flattering fresh look.
You Hate even the Thought of White Hair
Your love hate for white hair started years ago with no reason other than you associate old with white hair, you think just because you were born with brown hair it should be like that until the day you die. Typically your hair color is completely different when you are born to when you reach 10 and again at 20. Your skin tone changes over the years and you need to adapt with it.
Just because there is a few white hairs, it doesn’t have to be hidden! If your hair is in good condition and a cut that suits you, white hair can actually enhance the look without adding years to your appearance. Covering them 100% is not always the best solution and there are options like highlights or Smudging which can be far better than a solid color and you still have freedom from being locked into salon visits.
We have all neglected ourselves far too long now! Enough is enough! Those track pants you have been wearing for 2 straight weeks whilst they look good it’s just not you and let’s be honest it’s not helping you feel good, it’s comfy yes but come on!
Sloppy is fine and can be sexy too, this is not about making anyone feel good other than yourself!
Take a few hours off, wash your hair, give yourself a blowout, go get a fresh color, shop on line for something to put a smile on your face and then get back into work.
What is a safe distance and how can we get back to normal when it seems like it’s out of control? You are not alone, we all have a fear of being around others let alone sitting or being amongst a crowd!
While we don’t have this dreamlike aesthetic we limited the people that are allowed into our space so no one feels like anyone else is there. We have a limit of two people at any time but offer one at a time ( subject to availability on request ) to ensure you feel comfortable while getting your hair done.
Let’s all be safe, no mask no entry and it must stay on 100% of the time in the salon. If you want to take a selfie please do it with the mask on 😷 the main goal is to get your hair done safely for everyone so you look and feel more normal.
We reduced our opening hours to Tuesday – Saturday 10-5pm so please call or DM for bookings as no walk in bookings are entertained.
You are all too busy to live, we have heard all the horror stories about the new work mode a lot of you are doing to survive. It’s hard, whilst on one hand we need to work harder than ever and yet on the other hand we need to look after ourselves more than we ever have!
Putting your hair up in a topknot doesn’t count as self care, it’s a time saver for sure and l guess but it doesn’t help you look or feel good about yourself. It’s a struggle to make time to shampoo conditioner and even to attempt a blow out is almost out of the question.
A quick fix which may help is washing your hair and putting it up damp, comb through with a wide tooth comb apply one or two drops of serum and a leave in moisturiser (if needed) twist it up and tie it off with band once the calls are over or later in the day take it out and you will have a soft bend texture which can make you feel more you.
Another option is doing the same thing but braiding it and letting it dry with the braids.
Right now the thought of sitting in a salon to make your hair look good seems useless and to be honest a tad odd. We have never had a weekly blowout culture nor have been involved in producing work that needs a lot of effort to style. It’s just not realistic today to think that anyone has time to sit and get a blow out every few days.
The cut is the framework that will support the shape. It’s not just cutting it dry it goes well beyond that, the direction of the blade when cutting to the angle the blade enters the hair to the tension the hair is held. Creating or encouraging movement that minimises time spend in front of the mirror is what we believe is beautiful hair.
It’s true we have gone from a culture of spending too much time and money on out appearance to zero and it seems like we are all doing just fine. That special cream for wrinkles is long gone and it seems like life goes on, what once was your morning ritual now just seems like an annoying waste of time.
It’s okay to pause and it’s ok to pull back and honestly it’s probable a good thing for a lot of us, so much unnecessary time and money wasted on things that simply didn’t matter.
What we do need to do it make sure our mental health and the way we feel stays positive, you can handle anything if we are mentally capable and ready. The way we look at ourselves sometimes is a reflection of the way we feel so it’s important that whilst we pull back on a lot of things that we realise we have to keep loving the reflection in the mirror.
We are not saying come get a color or get your haircut, we are saying love yourself for who you are and realise how blessed you are! Sure if getting a fresh haircut is what you need then we are here but it may not be and that’s ok too.
We reopened on the 3rd June after being closed for 11 weeks, various amount of apprehension which is normal and did various run through scenario’s on hygiene until we all were happy and felt safe, for both the team as well as the clients.
We have only maximum of two clients in the salon at any time, with a sanitize break to ensure proper swab down of all touch points, no cash only card with no one touching your card or machine, it’s covered each time in cling film and sprayed down. If you wish to be the only person in the salon please request that when booking and we will do our best to offer you a suitable time for that, however these slots are limited.
No drinks, coffee or food allowed in the salon and no one to enter unless you are getting your hair done. The front door is locked and upon arrival ( as long as it is the set time ) we let you in, check temperature, sanitise your hands and drop any bags at reception. We temperature check everyone including our team before entry.
We are not doing blow dry’s because it pushes the air around in the salon too much and whilst we are a safe zone, we feel safer not risking any element of infection. For colors we provide disposable face masks which can be changed prior to entering or in the washroom.
We limit any small talk face to face ( even with mask on ) and consult from over 1.5 metres away and all changes in hairstyle we request to connect on FaceTime prior to your appointment so we can chat and see your face without a mask while you are at home.
Yes it’s a lot to take in, we know but safety of our team and you is paramount and if we have to change down a gear or two and be extra careful then that’s what we all must do. If you have any request or question please don’t hesitate to ask as we all know it’s a stressful time.
We do look forward to seeing you and apart from fresh hair it fills our heart to see you and help you feel fresh and happy ❤️
Ok so let’s be honest it’s hardly the time to wonder the streets, go window shopping or go sit in a salon for hours on end without a certain level of stress and anxiety kicking in. We know that and want to spell out a few things to put your mind at rest.
Firstly we are not blow drying currently due to the air getting pushed all throughout the salon and disturbing air flow ( makes sense ) so right there you cut 10-15 minutes off your “in salon” time. Consultations for changes are done over the phone or via video prior to you coming in so there is less talk more action once you get here.
There is always small talk and catch up that we need because we have been part of your life and quite frankly we have been dying to know what happened to your cousin who was dating her bosses ex father in law. Don’t worry we will make time for that, we are multi skilled.
We have limited people in the salon at any moment with the door locked so there is zero distractions and it’s a safe place so we can’t wait to see you. Whilst we are not parkour artists we know you want to see us but also want to be back home safely.
No one wants to spend hours in a salon anytime but especially now but you also want to look & feel good especially after the months we have had!
With naturally darker hair going blonde can be time consuming and certainly isn’t the low Maintainence hair that we all need right now. The warmer caramel tones typically don’t take long to achieve and don’t put the hair under too much stress to achieve it.
Get this look that’s fresh and leaves your hair looking great for the months ahead and doesn’t leave you having to go to the salon every month.
Not sure about everyone else but heading back to work is hard! Partly given the fact that we all just enjoyed the longest holiday of our lives and slept, ate whenever we felt like it with little care of times or routine.
Well we understood that’s why we have reduced our hours, we open 10-5pm now at the moment to make sure the work-life balance transition is easier for us all. A tired hairdresser is not a happy hairdresser. We can accommodate early morning bookings if you prefer with advance requests being subject to availability.
Stay healthy and rested to make sure you do not get run down both physically and mentally.
