Let’s be honest after a few days we are all getting a little stir crazy, when we were all going to work we had a million things we thought we could do if we stayed home yet now your gone there is nothing to do! Well stop crying and let’s get a list together!
The start of your list of things you can do
Clean out your cupboards
Clean out your fridge
Arrange your makeup draw
Read one of the books you bought 3 years ago
Message your parents or a friend
Ask your neighbor if there is anything they need, you can pick it up when you go out to save more people heading out
Contact a friend who lives alone
Watch Netflix travel shows on your next holiday once life gets back to normal
Learn to cook! No better time than now!
Clean out your phone and laptop
Wah your sneakers
And yes the obvious is not have friends over or try to do anything to close to people you don’t need to be around.
There is not one person on the planet who colors their hair that isn’t wondering what they will do, let’s be honest there is a lot more to worry about but who doesn’t want to feel good while being in quarantine! You may be tempted to try a DIY to cover up the grey or the darker regrowth but don’t!
Headed to the chemist yesterday and saw the entire shop was emptied out and the area for box color was empty which shocked me. If you color your hair at home, it can be too dark and you will end up having to do it more often than if you just waited. If you think you are going to do some highlights or go lighter, things will turn ugly really fast! The cost to color in a salon is more expensive than a DIY color true but fixing your disaster ( color correction ) can cost double or triple than the original color. It may not even be able to be fixed! Just wait, we will be open one day and when that day comes we will be ready for you!
Imagine for a moment you had 2-3 weeks stuck at home and you forget to get your hair done. Well apart from the fact worse things could happen I guess but let’s be honest you would be FaceTiming everyone so let’s just say now may be the right time to get your mop sorted!
Let’s be honest it’s scary what’s going on and we all have to be aware of the dangers of Corona Virus and be vigilant with our hygiene and the people around us.
We all are a little delusional and think we are the one in a million and our hair grows either faster or slower than anyone on the planet, reality is more likely it’s just normal. Some say 10-15 days some say every 6 months and yet the reality is very different!
To maintain the hairstyle you have you need a trim every 5-6 weeks, for guys who don’t want to look messy, ideally 4 weeks!
If your trying to grow it, 6-8 weeks to remove any split ends!
Once hair has left your body and visable it’s actually dead the growth happens inside your head not on the ends! A split end can end up reducing length but splitting and end up breaking off further up which looks terrible and will end up going shorter without cutting or feeling like it’s simply not growing.
So reality is regular trims are important and you need to do it no matter who you are!
We get asked a lot about how often you should wash your hair, does shampooing your hair daily cause hair fall and what’s the best brand shampoo to use! Here you go, it’s all here!
How often should you shampoo your hair?
This is a very personal question and one that will vary from person to person, season to season. Someone with super long hair in winter will most certainly not want to wash their hair daily and someone with short hair is happy to do it daily in summer, makes sense right? Well the easy answer is this, just like your skin your scalp gets dirt, pollution and oils that need to be removed in order to have a healthy scalp, healthy scalp healthy growth! So it makes sense that you wash it daily! The longer you leave it the more oily and polluted your scalp will become. You wouldn’t wash your face every second or third day then wonder why you have a breakout would you?
When you wash it you notice hair in your hands, this is NOT from the shampoo and it’s 99.9% just naturally occurring hair that is coming out regardless but with the massage effects and rubbing you see it in your hands versus just falling on your shoulders during the day. Now that’s the scalp and condition based on your hair for the hair and not the scalp.
What shampoo is best for you?
That’s like asking what food am I going to like the most, it is different for everyone, while some have thick, coloured, fine thick etc etc. we recommend staying clear of shampoo with sodium laureth sulfate ( the detergent that is added just to add bubbles which is also added to many household cleaners). Apart from that it would depend on your budget and haircare regime. We use Alfa Parf as well as Schwarzkopf shampoo and there are many sulfate free shampoo’s on the market.
Will washing my hair make me bald? There is absolutely no truth in this whatsoever, baldness is fundamentally genetic and in your DNA. For guys you are more prone to hair loss than woman!
We see it too often, people getting things done when they don’t need them. Could be keratin thinking it’s going to make dehydrated limp hair full and bouncy to color on ends when it’s black.
A lot of the time it’s habbit that causes us to do what we do and most times it’s not required. We do get told we are expensive but a lot of times we are cheaper than what you are paying because half the things you do in fact don’t need doing!
Are you wasting time, money and destroying your hair for no good reason?
So you are a guy 👍🏻 you drink beer, like sports and are often told your loud! You shower when someone says you smell and your more into the ladies than your self grooming.
OMG so many issues with that it’s not even funny! But chances are you are a guy ( well 50|50 ) you have hair and get it cut every so often so where do you go? More than likely you do t google much other than the Daily AQI or no Swiggy is not considered google neither it’s what’s app buddy!
So if you need a haircut, want to look good, maybe even the best you have in years then give us a shot! We are fairly awesome and if you open another tab and search Rod Anker Salons you will see!
Easy to say you want lived in hair and a lot of you want it and think that it literally means doing nothing at all and expecting it to look ” post ready ” without doing anything. The idea of “just got out of bed hair” doesn’t mean just get out of bed and boom, you have awesome hair either.
The secret to getting the look right is doing less but starts with getting the right cut and having your hair in the right condition for it!
Well its not really a secret so here goes..
It starts with getting the right haircut, this doesn’t mean always changing the style, it is about creating the right texture and movement with the cut you have. It may mean growing layers longer or taking them slightly shorter depending on the texture of your hair and the desired style. Our dry cutting technique ensures your hair sits the way it is meant too with minimal effort.
The right Product at the right time, applied in the right way makes the world of difference! A lot of the time we see people using too much or at the wrong time. Can be 2 or 3 products but rarely more, less is best but will depend on your hair, the style and the texture of your hair.
Using tools whilst the thought of doing work to make it look like you didn’t may sound odd, you may need to go over a few small sections to ensure it still looks sorted, can be a few sections with curling or a few bits with irons to smoothen it out!
Whatever your dream hair is, best to sit and have a conversation with your hairstylist on what your ideal hair looks like, the reality to how you currently manage it and the products you have. There is no need to go and buy every product known to mankind in the hope it will change everything as most times you will already have something that can be used and rarely need to be buying more product to achieve the look!
Like everything that is good, we all often wonder what it is about it that makes it they way it is, just like KFC you may be able to make it look the same but it just isn’t the same! Deep fried chicken isn’t KFC’s secret!
Do we have a hidden way of working, nope in fact we have always maintained the same conversation about being transparent and real, if you need something we will tell you, if you don’t we will also tell you! There should be nothing done unless it makes sense otherwise it’s a waste of time and money. Sounds kind of simple but sadly it’s not common place as much as we would like it to be.
Some may think that being blunt is rude, telling you that you don’t need something lazy or turn up on time so everyone enjoy’s a salon that doesn’t run late as rude. But in our defence we feel it makes the experience a win win for everyone.
If you haven’t visited us, we are not a new salon we have been in Meherchand market for 4 years, drop in say hi and have a chat about hair or just come say hi 👋🏻
The reality is very few will have loads of money when they retire, by the time you get there you will need 5-10 times what you thought you would. But we are not talking retirement we are more concerned with today and tomorrow!
A lot of people are not spending any time or money bettering themselves, not reading books, not attending seminars not furthering their education in life or chosen career. It needs to be said that this is your job not your employers, not some stranger you just met or not your parents, IT IS YOU that needs to invest in you! It’s not good enough to sit back and think you earned it and your time is coming, it’s not! You either move forward better yourself or step aside and make way for someone who wants to be better!
Food for thought but not too long because every meal ticket has an expiry!
They say it only takes 21 days to break a habit and let’s be honest we all have a few, smoking, drinking, complaining etc etc and more importantly our behaviour to ourselves and others!
I guess I have noticed this more in the last few years and there is no need to be angry at people, in fact it’s proven that when your being treated badly you will never be at your peak, more likely to make stupid mistakes and most likely not learn a thing.
If something isn’t working or if has gone sideways ( which things do sometimes ) stop reacting and get back on track, have a face to face with the people involved and help them see your view and talk through what happened and how it could be different.
After recently reading an article that was completely wrong, even after being asked for the answers, we thought it best to share again some facts about washing your hair to set things straight. Hairdressing is doing hair and to get others opinions, whilst we welcome that with open arms its best to get hair advice from people who are qualified doing hair not your mum, aunt, vegetable guy or your plumber.

Some say washing your hair every day can cause hair loss?
Well the easy answer is no, however it’s wrong if you use the right shampoo and keep your scalp clean then you are doing everything to have a healthy scalp which means healthy hair growth. If you use a shampoo that is drying or too aggressive, then it can affect your scalp PH level therefore possible increase hair loss ( note that it won’t be the only cause and we have never seen someone go bald from shampoo fyi )
Should you water down shampoo?
Absolutely not, this is 100% false both shampoo and co dituonrr in fact should be used in damp hair and excess moisture removed before using it!
Can we apply shampoo directly to your scalp?
Directly onto your scalp yes, isn’t that the purpose? Take from bottle into your hands then apply it directly to your scalp massage well from scalp to ends rinse and repeat if desired!
Do all chemicals damage your hair?
No, if your colouring your hair “out of a box” or trying to DIY chances are whatever you do may do damage. Colouring your hair shouldn’t cause it to look or feel damaged unless your doing other things that effect it! Don’t do home remedies thinking they are all good, some in fact cause more damage than chemicals!
If I want full hair, can I skip conditioner because that makes my hair flat?
No, if it’s too heavy then use something specifically for your hair. Conditioner closes the cuticle of the hair ( the outside layer ) snd prevents moisture leaving the hair!
Does frizziness cause hair fall?
Absolutely not!! Hair fall comes from inside your scalp, breakage is external. Some people have naturally frizzy hair that no product on planet earth can tame, doesn’t mean your going to be bald. Split ends eventually break off if not cut at some point!
Be careful where you get your information from, sadly a lot of wrong information is out there, do your own research and try to get advice from people doing hair. Remember, a makeup artist does makeup, a numerologist studies numbers, a builder builds houses.
If you are human we are fairly sure you have googled almost every fad diet, cheap getaways, 100 ways to work and still get paid, quick meal idea with rice and beans, how to hide a body in urban area and maybe how to grow you hair faster!?
Beans and rice, no you can’t get paid unless you work lazy ass, fad diets don’t work stop eating crap, holiday at home by stop using your phone and try stashing the body in a Starbucks toilet.
Now growing your hair longer faster and trying to get hair that is super healthy, strong hair or long hair involves being committed to Maintainence and we don’t mean soaking it in Yukult, milk, curd, beer or anything else. Healthy scalp, healthy hair, remove ends every 6 weeks regardless of how long you want it and use good quality shampoo, don’t overdo the heat tools, always condition and use heat protecting serum!
Want to know more on how to get the best hair you can? Give us a call on 01141010011
Ever had someone tell you that they love your shoes? If you have it sure feels good, a validation that that one extra pair to your ever growing collection was worth it, finally getting appreciated for the style guru you are!
Getting told your hair looks amazing is possibly less frequent not because you have ugly hair ( not saying you don’t either 😏) but it’s just a tad more personal I guess so most people will notice but not mention it directly.
It’s when you have complete strangers ask you who does your hair, you know you’re on s winning streak! If it hasn’t happened to you then it’s time to change salons.
After over 10 years in India its a common phrase to delay life a little, sorry we couldn’t find you or its difficult to find! Short of floating a blimp balloon above the salon lets make life easy for you so you have to be more creative when you know you’re running late! Now the Senate in the United States struggle to understand google but lets be honest we are all a little smarter than them so lets lay it out for everyone how to find the Salon.
Open google maps, it should be on your phone, unless your so old school ( which is fine ) on google maps there is a tab for you to type an address or business, this is it, type in ” Rod Anker Salons” and click enter and follow the directions and your good to go!
I know right, its that easy, if you are getting close and because you have trust issues you don’t believe google then give us a call 011 4101001 We are beside Altitude Cafe and two doors away from Bombay Shirt company.
Honestly if you are not capable of finding us after all of this then I guess you should be home cutting your own hair!
Kind of true even though we haven’t listened to yours, only because its ours that its better I guess but who knows!
We play international music, sorry no Bollywood numbers here only music that we get off on, its not trans, its not hip hop ( although a little 80’s hip hop wouldn’t hurt you, me or anyone actually ) its music that inspires us to create, so I guess with that explanation it should make sense or at least you would hope so.
Nope, we don’t have a TV playing your daily Bollywood soap either, we don’t watch it and honestly a day without it probably won’t hurt you, its called culture try it.
You’ve trolled through the internet like you have tried to find evidence of your partner cheating, you have compared prices and deals to the point you really have no idea how half of them work. Most claim to be the best at well pretty much everything. Some claim they are the biggest, the fastest, the best, the most convenient, spacious, best trained, most awarded blah blah blah. Over it?
Ever thought, one day when everything falls into place I’m going to buy a jet and paint it black? Well as you can see there are some, in fact I think I would too just to be the odd one out, I think it would look cool!
But I guess since this is a hair site its only fitting we relate this to hair right, I guess so! Well if you have a plane you are more than welcome to paint it any color you like, if you have hair, then black is NOT your only option! If you are colouring your hair to cover grey’s then black is possibly the worst option, if you think you were black or have black hair the chances are slim as very very few people actually have black hair.
One of the biggest problems when you are going grey is keeping up with the regrowth, the moment you leave the salon, your hair starts to grow and within days if you look closely you will see white dots coming through which will start driving you crazy. The darker the hair, the whiter the white the faster you see it!
So how do you either stop it growing, slow it down or disguise it so your life isn’t spent in the Salon?
Well never tell your hairstylist you want black thats a good start, but we need to understand that when you color your hair the contrast is what will show the regrowth the fastest, the darker your colouring, you will see the lighter hairs coming through. Now if you are dark and you color your hair light its exactly the same but in reverse.
You can break up the color you are doing, add some highlights a few shades lighter, take your color 1-2 shades lighter than your natural color and this together will give you a longer gap between visits and free up some valuable time of yours!
Your hair may be dark but unlikely it is black or ever was!
Come see us and discuss how to get your life back and still look good!
Last seen exiting a salon in Dehi, John was seen running towards the airport after his not so creative cut was complete. We spoke to the alleged hairstylist who tells us he entered the salon in a fantastic mood, very chirpy in fact. “We spoke about many things and I gave him something fresh and suiting his face” the hairstylist said. Once the service was complete John informed the staff he looked stupid, ” I look like some homeless Uncle” he shouted. The entire salon plus passers by all said ” No sir you are looking too good!”
Convinced this entire process was a scam to ruin his love life, John paid the 300rp and left saying he was heading to Meherchand market to get it fixed!
When we asked the accused Hairstylist why he made him look like a human box he replied ” he said medium trim this is medium trim shape”
All we can say at this point is we hope he can be located so this box 📦 can be fixed.
Community spokesperson for the Association for Cuts that make me look like a cardboard box ( CTMMLLAB ) said that this was a bad shape for his beard, he must be ashamed however he was inticed into the salon by somewhat misleading advertising.
Not everyone wants to be in a band, have a sleeve full of tattoos or drive a Harley Davidson ( well the last one isn’t true, who doesn’t want to drive a Harley!) Getting bad boy hair is not as hard as you think if you just don’t over think it!
Obviously the cut has to be done right but let’s just assume it was, styling bad boy hair is easy because it rely’s on typically one product, keep in mind guys don’t do complacated.
Texture is important and blunt cuts won’t work, having texture in your hair is 80% done in the cut and the rest is done in choice of product. Typically a matte paste is the perfect product on dry hair, never blow dry only use your fingers when drying followed by tee spoon in your hand rubbed together then place firmly over the entire head then shake and run!
You would have almost done it, gone for something new something fresh but you just don’t know what it would look like right?
Chances are that if you have ever wanted to do something dramatic something has stopped you unless you are super convinced either in yourself or by your hairstylist.
We believe that it’s not about selling a style, it’s not about pushing our opinion, it’s about discussing options and eliminating options and finding out what it is that not only suits you but you can manage yourself. It’s one thing to want to look like xyz but your hair will never do it when you get home and you’re alone trying to get ready to go out.
We believe that a haircut has to feel right for you as well as suit you do it takes a lot of discussion to find out and it’s not just about cutting the hair, even after it is cut we need to make sure you know how to manage it daily.
So if you’re not getting this then it’s about time you visited us!
Over it?
Sadly a very common problem is asking the wrong person for hair advice. You ask a plumber plumbing issues, electrician electrical problem, doctors medical problems.
How hard is it to understand hairdressers do hair, not makeup artists, not dermatologists, not fashion stylists actually hairdressers who have studied the science of hair and what it is and is not capable of.
If you head to the market and ask a random person for hair advice and we find out, trust me things are going to end badly.
We got to put it out there, recently we saw a TV ad with possibly the worst wig known to mankind. Sure the model maybe didn’t agree to go bright pink or maybe production thought they could pick up a perfect wig at the corner store who knows.
Moral of the story is
Yes all colors are possible on your hair, if your hair condition allows.
No natural looking wigs rarely will be able to be fitted to everyone and certainly don’t allow for a last minute change holding on to MTV music video expectations.
Plan plan plan
Pastel colors can be done, they take time and effort to do and maintain.
If you want a bright color wig, get on line and check which one fits your budget and do your research.
How to grow your hair faster, thicker, stronger is possibly one of the most googled questions.
Well it’s fairly basic but so are some of you, we guess your thinking it’s food or some exotic fruit but here are the facts!
Hair is dead once it leave your scalp so FYI putting anything on it isn’t making it grow faster! If you pour water over a dead cat would it be able to drink it? No
Regular trims (6-8weeks) doesn’t make it grow faster but reduces split ends hence reducing of length.
8-10 hours of sleep a night. Yes some of you should have hair like Rupanzel right about now!
Healthy diet! There are 5 food groups all nutritionists around the world know about them, it’s not a secret. Eat something from each group daily. Don’t over eat, don’t skip and don’t try to convince yourself you can cheat. Healthy body healthy hair!
Use good products, for f*%# sake just because they have a Marketing budget doesn’t mean it’s the best product! Do some research get the facts!
So your the type of person who crashes at your friends place, always leaves your wallet at home & always look for the cheaper way to get things done.
Now whilst we all hate you, because your constant cry poor nonsense and your constant buying of clothes, shoes and electronics ( yes we all noticed! ) you try mixing home remedies for your hair because you think it’s cheaper!
Well the biggest problem with trying to duplicate experience when it comes to hair color or hair care is that hair depth, density, strength and porosity varies dramatically from person to person and then vary from month to month. With that being said a “home remedy” or a DIY today may work, tomorrow may be a total disaster. A harmless Color that your told is “natural” makes even the most mild bleech react and turn your hair to straw!
I guess it’s only when things go terribly wrong, you realise that there may be more to this than your grandmothers remedies. Before trying to do things yourself, always get professional advice from a professional salon.
An important fact to remember, the home remedies done 100 years ago were done on hair that was exposed to far less than it is today. Pollution, chemicals in water, chemicals in food and the list goes on. It’s a complete different world today that we are exposed too than it was 20,30,50 years ago.
Now I’m sure some blokes love a girl that’s so long that if you forget the rope to tie up the stuff in the Ute you could use a few metres from her hair. But do girls really like hair that could easily double as a bum warmer?
Now if you are a girl reading this, you would completely relate to removing the hair from you know where, hardly a nice task nor one we talk about.
Go to the gym, do squats expose your butt and cut your hair!
Respect for all the times you had to dig deep and fish out the 100 odd hairs you loose every single day!✌🏻
Scientists have discovered the cure for loosing our hair and a way to grow a full head of hair. It was last Friday a group of scientists in a small town approximately 15km outside Baldocia in northern Romania found the Gene that has been on the run since the dawn of time.
Exhausted the Gene said to the scientists “it was fun running at first, but to be honest once we saw everyone just shaving there head well it just didn’t seem like people were willing to play anymore” Left a little disgruntled and angry over everyone’s loss in attitude it feels like playing hide and seek with your Auntie who is meant to be looking after you while your mum and dad go out but she is too busy swiping on tinder, said one of the Genes. A murmer and chuckle from the back of the group saying it was encouraging that some people were rubbing fruit, oil and even pulped onions on there head, it was as if they thought this shit would work 😂
Cornered and tired after centuries avoiding discovery the group of small genes with there over blown ego sat panting looking somewhat pale and exhausted.
Police asked them what they were looking forward to most, they all said that a good shower and sulfate free shampoo was the first thing they wanted.
Well recently we were told you could look on “Craig’s list” for one, but honestly we are not going up recomend that option unless you’re a backpacker looking for a free ride and possibly happy with some weirdo driving you through the desert 🌵
It needs to be a relationship that both know what page you are on, the ice has been Brocken and your in a good place. Now given everyone is different and personalities vary how do you find that fast, because you need your blow out done tomorrow night!?
Well here is the quickest way
Or use this checklist
Search on line for a person not a salon in your area who specialises in hair. Google is great but don’t just look at the paid ads!
Look at the salon & persons profile online, Facebook, Instagram etc
Drop them a DM and ask some random question, see if they even reply.
Look on all the leading fashion magazines like Elle, Vogue, Cosmopolitan or Harpers Bazaar to see who they talk about.
Go through the salon website and see if it’s just about money & price or it’s about hair
Ask your friends or complete strangers who does there hair.
At the end of the day the relationship you have will largely determine if your hairstylist “gets you” or is simply telling you to do xyz.
Getting the right look is a head to toe thing and is not judgemental other than the overall esthetic of how it all works together as a total look.
If you think your head is too big or your butt looks huge then maybe shaving it is not the answer, if you have eyes 👀 like goldfish then maybe you need long bangs. Everything plays a part in your look. But remember one thing, your you, your perfect the way you are and let no one tell you otherwise. It’s one thing to be aware of what your insecure about, it’s not cool to be obsessed about it. ✌🏻
The thought that a haircut or color is like picking up a loaf of bread on your way home is still a reality in some parts of the world, yes it’s sad but some people have not experienced hair they love.
I guess for these people they can’t understand it simply because they have not experienced it. Hair is a complex medium that requires understanding of movement and reactions, it’s learnt over years not weeks or months.
We all know someone who has had a hair disaster and simply won’t leave the house, this is typical side effect of someone who shops on price alone and doesn’t really care about the end result. Well not until the end result looks more like a wig in a horror movie anyway.
A year ago we opened our flagship salon in Meherchand market this week!
Anyone who has been in business knows nothing comes easy and it has had its ups and downs but we have to say we are overwhelmed with the response. “Choosing a quieter market where parking is easy and the vibe is Art meets culture, it was a perfect fit for our brand” says Rod. We are an established brand but finally finding our home took some time.
With two floors, both dedicated to JUST HAIR, its a true Hair Salon that specialises in hair! We continue to be the leaders in the Industry, delivering up to the minute trends, techniques and advice that makes sure that not only you love your hair, that the hair industry grows to one day be on par Internationally.
Lots of things in the pipeline for the next 12 months which is scary & super exciting and can’t wait to share it all with our friends & clients so stay tuned says co founder Merrylin Boro.
Go drop in and speak to the guys & gals and talk hair and have a coffee on us
Well France recent move to elect a president that does not have a one sided view on life nor is an extremist makes us all live in hope.
With everyone’s life now moving faster and expectations bigger than ever for not only now but for our futures we have to look at everything with both eyes open.
What used to be ok to think a certain way, is now not good enough. What worked yesterday may not work today, what sounded awesome a in 2010 sounds basic in 2017. Everyone’s exposure to the rest of the world has risen and therefore expectations have done the same thing.
We saw people shopping for hair based on price in the 80’s then on trend which moved to the cool factor, now it’s based on result and quality. Trends come trends go but if your not moving in any direction then you become irrelevant.
Stop and look at how you can develop yourself, your brand, your circle of change.
It’s 2017, you work in almost any field someone you work with, a boss, a customer or a business associate has looked you up on line and seen all your photos, it’s a given!
Now whilst the easiest way to deal with it would be making your profile private because after all your personal life is your own right? Well kind of not, if your in media, PR, fashion, beauty, hair, lifestyle, travel, tours, renovations, public speaking, fitness etc etc you get our point.
Consumer shops very different now and demand an insight into you and what your selling, not only in the item or service but your brand Dna and what your about! Your not selling anything? I honestly doubt that, even if you only rely on a research grant every 5th year chances are someone will be checking!
Setting your profile on private because you think people will follow you is not only wrong but incredibly naive. The choice people have is global so you are being compared to the best in the world not in your street, market or village!
Some things are forced and others just happen, Monday’s are the former no matter who you are they tend to be a little more like punishment if your head is not looking at it the right way.
Now it’s a choice, you can either go through it kicking and screaming or smile and think positive. Either way it’s going to be hard but at least when you give it your best and do it with a smile it’s going to go fast and maybe you will have a laugh or two!
If your struggling then why not try your hair done ✅
When you come across something good or even great, it’s almost like you have to talk about it because it’s just plain awesome. It’s like something this business is doing has just clicked and it’s perfect. Now once everyone knows that the secret recipe is bang on, some people try the old ” let’s exploit it and add another vertical” in the attempt to be everything for everyone rather than continue to perform and refine. Where things go south ( pardon the pun ) is when the business owner or investor adds another “vertical” to try to exploit the success or add another revenue stream because well that’s what they were taught.
The biggest issue when you spread yourself so thin is the same as spreading Nutella thin on your toast ( it’s not cheap lol ) you get a taste but it’s just not the same. The formula that was working at the start when you did one thing amazing is not multiple things being delivered average. The only thing that has changed is your focus and cost has gone up and your quality has gone down!
We focus on developing our core strength “Hair” to be delivering the best globally not only in quality but to be connected to our consumer better than any salon or any business.
Traditionally hair has been almost always worn long in India, almost as a sign of your femininity, yet it in fact has no weight or bearing. Beauty is individual so if you like your hair long then wear it long, if you want it short then cut it off.
Hair is your personality, if you feel good in it your personality shows which is above all the perfect look
Hair “typically” worn in a tight low bun, from the front it looks like a pixie anyway!
Eyes will be drawn to you because it screams confidence and that is Sexy
Wrapping a Sari takes time so less time for your hair = pixie
The Sari is intricate so having less fru fru hair will balance the look dramatically.
If going short has always been something you wanted to do maybe now is the right time!
Not a new concept but you can’t expect to be the most functional human possible if you refill daily with toxic waste.
Now we all have our moments when we we top up on a little “junk” like a lot of things it’s ok in moderation but making fast food your staple diet is not a healthy long term option.
There are five food groups and a daily requirement our body needs to be at its potential, just because of your laziness you can not justify not being healthy and then expect great hair, skin, nails etc.
We all want a bargain, we want to walk away thinking we got something cheaper than it’s worth, regardless if we do t need it, regardless of quality. Sadly there are some who literally don’t care if they need it or not but just want it because it’s cheap or free!
Well we don’t do discounts, we don’t do deals, packages, red light specials, promo and we also don’t try and sell you our entire menu just so we can create an even increase in our company sales meeting PDF.
We specialise in both color correction as well as cutting correction and we see a lot ( like a LOT) of people who come with hair that has been given treatments/services they simply didn’t need. When we take the time to talk to them the majority already know they didn’t need it and in fact it would have been cheaper if they came to us in the first place as we don’t mind saying ” you don’t need that done”. Instilled in our Culture is if someone is better off with something than without it, then tell them. If they don’t need it, tell them. If it’s bad for the hair, tell them. Honesty build trust, builds loyalty and above all build a long term trust and friendship with beautiful hair and that’s our only purpose!
So before you order everything just because it’s cheap or a “deal” the best thing you could do would be find out if you even need it first. It’s not cheap if it A. Ruins your hair B. You don’t need it.

Basic Education happens in school then it all starts and what a or of people don’t get or want to accept is that after your out of school then the hard work starts!
So you can now count apples 🍎 but once you enter the real world, to be successful for the rest of your life it’s education and learning not an apple counting game.
Hairdressing is about learning and developing a skill which takes years which no one has the right to say they know everything, it’s a lifetime journey. At times the people who need it most think they know it all, sad 😭
So anyway we are looking for heads to train 🚂 on and develop our skills. We hold sessions twice a week and if you or anyone you know be up for it trust me it’s the best hair you will have free ( color excluded ) and all under supervision of our trainer.
Contact us through FB or Instagram and slide us a DM for more info.
You could be a lazy bum, CEO, rich brat, Hollywood or Bollywood celebrity or just don’t like visiting a salon it doesn’t matter sometimes we all like what we like and if you want your hair done in the middle of the desert or poolside at your place to mid flight between meetings then yes we do cater to you!
When it comes to hair we have been requested all sorts of things, it’s not odd to want what you want, it’s odd not to ask for what you want.
If you don’t ask the answer is always no!
So if you have a request for your hair to be done in a certain location give us a shout, it may require some extra work at the back end and of course it comes at a cost but what doesn’t. We go anywhere anytime!
You don’t need to download a stupid app you don’t have space for just Email us to find out more
Education for everything is not about finishing school and boom you know it all, you finish school then it’s starts and you never ever finish!
Hairdressing is a continuos journey of education, new techniques, new products, improving yourself and the way you deliver.
“When your green your growing when your ripe your rotten”
In other words when you think you know everything, is when you should stop because your dead! After 30 years doing what I do I don’t claim to know everything in fact I don’t. Hairdressers around the world spend a small fortune as do salon owners on building the skills, often traveling to all corners of the world to get it.
Success doesn’t come from doing something once, then keep changing it, it comes from doing one thing over and over and improving it each time you do it. Hairdressing is an art that a lifetime of training would never be enough, when you get that success will follow.
When it comes to us as humans it’s exactly the same. Day in day out improving and evolving to be a better person. Imagine if we still acted like we did when we were 14!? I guess there would be a lot of so called adults acting like spoilt brats screaming in bed till 2pm until they got their way!
Go out, get up and make it happen. It’s not a destination it’s a journey!!
So there is several ways to get a little color in your hair, you can choose to spend hours getting it done, or you can go to a Holi party and have it totally destroyed in seconds looking like a Unicorn on ice!
It’s ok it’s a natural color and washes out, it will do no harm? Seriously that is so far fetched it’s not funny, it stains and on blonde hair will be almost impossible to get it out, it stains better than any color be it paint or lipstick once it’s there good luck getting it out!!
Can you put anything on it to prevent it from staining your perfect blonde…. easiest answer is NO, you can soak it in oil, mask, a styling paste, gel etc etc but I assure you it will still find a way to get through and ruin your hair. You can wear a scarf but when water is added and coloured powder meet then it will go through all material so the easiest suggestion is avoid the random throwing of coloured powder if you love your color, if you don’t mind looking like a unicorn 🦄 for a while then go for it!
Best to get a pre Holi treatment like Alfa Parf linseed treatment which will close the cuticle tightly which will help reduce color absorbing.
In a world in which we all are born thinking we have the right to do or be anything we want and you do! Some things money just can’t buy but there are some things it can too!
There was a doctor, a great doctor, not the best doctor but he was good ok very good. He wasn’t so busy so he advertised offering half price operations, good operations, maybe the best, hard to say but they were good.
Public perception was simple and in fact reality, his skills turns out we’re not the best, in fact not that good even a fair bit less than good sadly. His work needed to be discounted, after all it’s a 50/50 chance your going to get through his procedures, which is still better than the 100% without maybe.
When it comes to hair, we believe to give you the best we can not cut corners or it’s only a matter of time before best goes to good then basic then basically no good!
We believe in providing great hair, for a set price that enables us to do it not only today but to be able to train and grow to do it not only next time but next year. Cheap hairdressing is just that and we want to be delivering quality not cheap.
So you think that leaving your hair dry naturally is better than using a dryer well let us explain why its not
Although some stylists often recommend sleeping in damp braids to get beachy waves, turns out air-drying may be more harmful than blow-drying: Water causes strands to swell; over time, this could weaken hair from the inside out. In the study, hair samples that were shampooed and then air-dried for two hours were compared to those blasted at various temperatures. Only the air-dried samples had significant damage to the cell membrane complex, the cement that holds cuticle layers together. That’s not to say that dryers can be used without harm: As the temperature of the air increased, the study found, so did the damage to the outer layers of each strand. The healthiest option, if not the speediest, is to dry on the lowest heat setting, with the dryer held at least six inches away from the head.
So instead of trying the easy braid on wet hair and trying to get it overnight, maybe its time to learn how to do it with a hairdryer and a large curling iron.
If your like most people every now and then you get dished up something and put it in your mouth, slowly roll it around thinking I really don’t want this but it almost feels too late to just spit it out! It could have been at a relatives house for dinner or after a night swiping right on tinder.
Getting your hair done should never leave a bad taste in your mouth, or leaving the salon thinking wtf did I do in my life to deserve this. The best advice we have is simply spit it out, if your asking the question then it’s kind of obvious you should spit right?
Don’t be lame and choose awesome, choose to take all the hair goodness we have to offer.
Meherchand Market & Noida sector 50
We are referring to getting a head full of awesome hair
A lot of people peak there motivation for 12 months between 12.01am on the 1st January to about lunchtime on 2nd then go back into the same habbits both mentally as well as physically. Different people say different things about how long it takes to create intention into a habit and reform behavior but I guess we are all human and it’s easy to just think F#%* it whatever.
If your feeling like crap,be it your stupid boss, your crappy boyfriend or girlfriend or just simply aren’t feeling it then a visit to the salon for a little makeover and a change may be just the answer.
If your bed has two sides we suggest you push it up against the wall so youbonoy get out of the right side and keep your salon visits to every 6 weeks that way your setting yourself up for success!
We get asked a fair bit about why some stylist pull the hair so much when blow drying, as well as the more serious one ” why is there smoke coming off my head?”
Either of these create not only split ends but also melt & destroy your hair. There is a few things to look at to help you understand why it’s important you stop doing the unthinkable to your hair.
Signs that you need to change salons
If the brushes they use are all melted and the plastic is literally not there, it should be clean and the bristles in tact, like this brush that is used daily in our salon for the last 6 months!
If they melt the brush guess what? Your hair is going to be fried!
Combing out your hair shouldn’t hurt, always start from the bottom and work your way up. Firstly a little serum or leave in conditioner to make sure there is lubrication.
If it’s pulling, chances are hair is being pulled out!
Smoke coming from your head like it’s on fire?
I would think this is kind of obvious, yet it still happens in 2016. Girls this is NOT NORMAL. The only time you could possibly has a slight smokey reside “burn off” is when your doing a keratin treatment but it’s very very slight. If your hair has a coating of oil ( read below why oiling is a complete no no!) then the resedue or build up is most likely taking the temperature of your hair to burning point!
“Oil residue plus heat creates higher temperatures than hair can withstand causing unrepairable damage”
They tell you you need to do a weekly ” hair spa” screams Rip off to me!
We know the salon business and the tricks that go on with the idea the consumer doesn’t know or won’t care however the concept of “hair spa” and the entire industry pushing it harder than the Trump vote the night before elections is kind of insulting. If your hair is that damaged the only two options you have are cutting it off or Olaplex to repair the internal structure. We have a linseed treatment that strengthens the cuticle and adds moisture to assist in no further damage.
If they put you under heat or steam, this causes stress on the cuticle and swells it so for a few days it feels smooth!
So there is a lot more to hair and choosing a salon than the attractive rate card, it’s about education and training.
In every Industry there is a deep rooted desire to be the best and be recognised as a leader, an opinion maker and a success in your chosen career. Alfa Parf Italy together with their Asian partners every year hold “The Asian Hair Awards”. This year it is being held in tropical Bali.
Earlier today Rod conducted a workshop for hairstylists from Asian, showcasing his take on the current Alfa Parf collection.
It’s a fantastic platform being Director of Education for Alfa Parf India to be part of the larger network of young hairdressers from around the world!
Stay tuned for the final looks!
Thank you Alfa Parf
Once in a while, we all reach a saturation point; when you crave for a change. It’s surprising how getting a new hair colour can completely change your look. Even the slight change in your hair style or colour can have a tremendous impact on how you feel and look. I am actually talking about something fresh, (Maybe, a colour you were so scared to try) break away from the same and make a new head turning statement.
Get your inner spirit animal of Kylie Jenner alive, and go for a major change. I know you all adored her bright peach locks at Coachella Music Festival; maybe, it’s time for you to take the plunge. If you had a look at Vogue’s May issue, it must have made your eyes pop out, I literally looked at it three time to recognise this new “Rock N Roll” babe, it was none other than Taylor Swift, with shaggy, bright blonde hair! It doesn’t matter if you are looking for something drastic or a more lived in natural hue, till the time you’re up for it. I mean, some bold hearts can totally go for the rainbow hair trend that is flooding your social media feeds!
Also, if your looking for the perfect cool braid then try out our new BRAID BAR which is opening at our Flagship Salon in Mehar Chand market this Friday.

Every day we were hearing you say, you should be closer to my house, why don’t you open in a more central location and of course the odd even scenario was driving everyone crazy ( but only every second day ).
In the most art centric market in Delhi, Meherchand Market we have opened our flagship salon, set on two floors in 1100 sq feet it is a visual canvas that defines both what we do and who we are. Clean, uncluttered and non pretentious ( well when its closed anyway ). As the flagship Salon In India, we decided to be possibly the only Salon that just focuses on Hair, no manicure, no pedicure like our other Salons just hair. OMG its a Hair Salon!
Yes 100% of our time and focus is hair, which makes us be the best in what we do without distraction. Like our other salons we use Alfa Parf & Label M which are the best products for hair, may not be the most advertised or endorsed by Bollywood but they work on hair better than other product so I guess that’s what counts.

Or if you feel you want to be a little more gangster then this is perfect!
Your hair looks great for five minutes, and then it goes back to POOF! All you girls with curly hair must be going, story of my life. If you allowed a naturally curly hair chick to rant about her hair problems, their terror stories would probably go longer than the movie Gladiator. You can’t really blame them, it can be be quite a challenge. Especially, when your hair screams the climate report and people can figure of the level of humidity by the size of hair.
Fret not, as frizzy as it can be, people have learnt to embrace their natural curls instead of frying them with hot irons or smoothing them with zillions products. In some cases, the obsession of trying to manage your curls can end up damaging your hair more than doing anything good.
There’s nothing fiercer than curly hair. Some of our favourite celebrities like Lorde, Serayah, Perrie Edwards and Lupita proudly flaunt their born-with-it bouncy hair, and we couldn’t have loved it in any other way. However, it can be a LOVE-HATE relationship, as many curly hair girls don’t feel confident in rocking their natural ‘dos. But with the help of the good stylist, the right cut and easy tricks it is very much achievable to slay it with your natural hair.
Get a diffuser, air drying can become your new BFF, as it is less damaging than a blow dry and much better than waiting hours and hours for your hair to dry. You will find that when you don’t diffuse your curls your hair looks limp and flat, but when you start this tiny habit you will have much more volume.
Repeat after me, DEEP CONDITIONING is the way to go, it can help to control frizz, and reduce breakage and split ends. Your list of hair products should always have; 1. Live in conditioner and cream 2. Hair serums, double check your list every time if you don’t want look like a stranded sheep. Lol Honestly though, there is nothing hotter than a girl who looks confident in her natural curls, time to ditch your flat iron and embrace your natural hair.
Both on the catwalk and backstage, we are seeing a lot of new trends and the return of some classic favourites. Don’t worry, we are saving you from flipping through it all and have hand-picked some of our favourite looks so far this season.
Baby Bangs – From models slaying SS16 Fashion week, to celebrities, to the trendy girl living next door to you, or in Rod’s case in the same house, short Bettie Page bangs are all the rage this season. This style gives your face a fresh look and highlights your facial features. Keeping’ short messy bangs will never fail to add some edge, plus you don’t have to worry about hair coming on your face.
Hair Accessories – SS16 saw the rise of hair accessories like never before. This season is all about getting your crowns out and wearing it like a ‘queen’. Simple accessories like metallic clips, or regal crowns that rocked the runaway at Dolce & Gabbana, it’s time to spend a little on hair accessories this season. But most importantly put some thought into it and don’t be mainstream!
SLEEK PONYTAILS – Who doesn’t love this one? Straight hair left loose, or tied up into low, sleek ponytails (easy as shit). We saw models at Chanel rocking this look with simple accessories, if you want to soften the edges, you can “Dior” it up from the runaway by tying it low with a ribbon, be bold.
Ruth Bell, we all have been crushing hard on this babe.
BUZZ CUT – The biggest (and boldest) cut of the season is the buzzcut! Only for the brave, if you have been dying to get a drastic make over and you have the right personality and attitude to pull it off, this look will change it all. When the temperature is boiling hot, time to SHAVE IT OFF! For some its the only choice they have, for many its a statement.
CHOKER HAIR – We saw an influx of this style throughout fashion week, hair tucked into scarves and chokers, one look you can get really creative with, using chokers, to scarf’s to tuck in your hair. Perfect for a bad hair day or for times when you’re running out of time to style your hair, just tuck it in! For the Christopher Kane show you can also re use the plastic ties if anyone annoys you on the metro too!

If we feel like the space is getting too dull then watch out, because our colouring is World class and we have all the tricks to make you stand out.
