For some, the thought of Instagram being complete reality and for some people everything in life is easy is typically far from reality!
So with constant influx of our time being on line we tend to end up believing what we see and that’s our reality when in fact it’s not. Perspective from a different angle life can look completely different. Not better or worse, just different.
Now when it comes to hair it is a jungle of filters and effects to help make the Color un achievable so all the followers aspire to have hair the same and not be able to achieve it. Almost like they are the only ones who can get it. When in reality it’s simply a filter.
So it’s important to remember to put things into perspective and have realistic expectations of yourself and your life. Don’t believe everything you see!
Who decided that if you were a certain sex your hair had to be this or that, stupid and it’s changed! thank goodness
It’s time you did what you wanted, short hair, long hair, pink hair, green hair it’s your hair so why not do what you want. Now short hair on woman screams confidence, sexy and super low Maintainence which sounds like 2021 hair if you ask us!
A dramatic increase is drastic haircuts so far this year and it’s far from over! So if it’s something that’s been in the back of your mind why not just do it!
To have healthy hair you need to do a few things and none of which you can swap or change. It’s not a bargaining thing it’s facts, you can not have a good diet and only sleep 3-4 hours a day and expect to be full of energy. Just like you can not skip gym 6 days a week and have a killer body, sadly it just doesn’t work like that. Healthy hair is a combination of what you do internally and how you treat your hair once it’s outside your body.
Hair once visible is not living matter so it’s incredibly susceptible to damage and must be treated with respect in order for it to be in best possible condition.
We all want what we want, some want every chemical treatment available and yet wonder why it’s not silky smooth and healthy, well sometimes you can’t have your cake and eat it too. Healthy hair starts with you and your diet, a balanced diet that ensures your body is getting all the nutrients and fuel to be able to function and grow the best hair.
Can you increase hair growth? Reality is no, sure some will say you can because we all want to hear it but truth is you can not. Hair grows marginally faster in summer vs winter that is a fact.
If I’m growing it why should I trim it every 6 weeks?
May be obvious but in case you slept through that class, hair is dead, if you don’t remove the ends every 6-8 weeks then you will get split ends which will travel up your hair shaft and break off. Hence your hair will appear like it’s not growing or at times getting shorter. If it grows on average 1.5 inches per month you can trim 1/2 inch every 6 weeks it’s still getting longer right?!
Can I rub fruit, oil or anything on it to make it grow faster?
Um no, if you have any idea how skin works, it’s not soil and your not growing tomatoes 🍅 compost on your scalp will only give you a bacteria infection and do absolutely nothing to your hair growth!
Can vitamin supplements help?
In some respect yes, if for whatever reason you can not cover the five food groups then you can add a Su plumber to assist however again this is a last resort and not going to grow your hair faster or thicker.
The best advice is everything in moderation, make sure you have a hairstylist that will say no to you in the interest of healthy hair, don’t do something for the sake of it and always use good products.
So best thing to do is start with a good well balanced diet, good healthy lifestyle and a good night sleep!
Nothing screams “home alone” more than a cropped fringe that’s let’s just say a tad uneven or lop sided. But the feeling of doing something new and different is obviously a rush especially right now! Will it suit you, will you regret it, will it be hard to manage? So many questions but if you put it into perspective, it’s hair and it grows back!
The last 18 months life has changed and we have all taken a long hard look at who we are, what we do and who we want to be. We have seen a dramatic increase in people growing colors out, grey hair is now cool!
Actually it always was but a lot of us had a very warped impression we should all look the same no matter what our age was or no matter what your natural color was. The upkeep on coloring white hair dark is out of control, seeing some people doing it every week so no one would notice that in fact you are 90% white.
Imagine not being able to go away for 2 weeks anywhere in the world without worrying about where you would get your color touched up!? The dark color would make the light natural color look terribly obvious and constantly checking the mirror to see if it’s obvious or not.
Time has come for a more low Maintainence hair color that gives you freedom! Sure it isn’t easy to get you over the hump of looking like a neglected human but once you do it’s worth the pain!
Now before you start getting defensive and tell us all the wonderful stories your mum told you just relax. This is about facts, we don’t know your mum and am sure she is wonderful. BUT
Hair once outside your scalp is dead, the living part of hair is beneath your skin, it grows here under several layers of tissue and the base. Within the follicle stem cells divide rapidly, as new cells are formed the old ones are pushed up and form the hair shaft, the part that you eventually see. As hairs become part of the shaft, they undergo a process called keratinization, in which they become filled with keratin. So, technically, instead of being made up of pure keratin, hair is made up of dead cells that are filled with and surrounded by keratin.
So putting anything on your scalp to encourage growth is almost pointless because the work is done internally so it all comes back to your DNA and Diet. Sure a massage on your scalp may increase the blood flow to your root marginally but not enough to make a difference.
So if your onion pulp or egg won’t penetrate the skin, how is it meant to feed the root of the hair, the only part that is living? How is oil going to do anything?
Maintaining healthy hair outside the skin, it’s important to understand the following. Hair is dead and we have to keep it in the best condition as long as we can. Regular trims to remove damage from chemicals or environment, regular cleansing and not coating the hair strand unnecessarily, like oils or silicone.
Excess oil on the scalp will create a PH issue for the tissue we call scalp therefore could encourage hair fall. Oil on the hair strand doesn’t do anything other than coat the strand and can in fact dehydrate the hair by increasing the temperature of the strand.
Healthy hair is about diet, lifestyle and your DNA. Eat a balanced diet, avoid stress ( as much as humanly possible ) don’t over style your hair and get regular trims every 6-8 weeks.
Often we have a plan for things with little or no idea what will happen when you get to the end. Could be “I will travel the world when I retire” or “Once I get fit, I will be happy” and rarely anything changes once you reach that point because the end goal is constantly moving. It’s a goal with no end date or resolution. It’s annoying yes we know!
If you are like thousands of others you will be growing your hair, but what for? For your wedding? To make others happy? To put it into a pony tail? For what?
We see a lot of people growing their hair so they can put it into a pony tail which to the untrained eye is the same as shaving it off, but yet you won’t go short because you feel long hair suits you?!
The reality is, it’s more about how it makes you feel than they actual way it looks! What are you doing with your hair? Are you growing it on purpose or just because that’s what you think you should be doing?
Sunday is Off Day, it’s a day to reflect, a day to spend quality time with the people you care about and a day to catch up. Well that’s typically been the theory. Work like crazy and in 12 hours once a week “catch up”!
More and more people are coming to terms with that fact life has to be more about doing what you love, being with the people you want to be with than it is about making it through the week!
As the world goes in and out of lockdown I guess we are all reflecting on life, what we are doing that we love and what we are doing that we really don’t love. If you could do whatever you wanted, what would it be? Where would you be right now?
For some the answer is, exactly where you are and that’s great but for many it’s completely different. Everything from the clothes your wearing to the job your slaving too should be by choice. The hairstyle you have to how you style it or don’t style it!
