We love getting reference photo’s of what you like and what your dream hair would look like, seriously helps us a lot! BUT if you think you can change your hair color dramatically like this with little effort, money and time it may be best to get it photoshopped!
Please don’t bring in your friends Instagram photos and expect us not to spill the beans and tell you that in fact her hair isn’t that color because she is level 1 in color correction on whatever app she is using this week!
For real color advice, results and still having hair left on your head then give us a call!
We see it too often, people getting things done when they don’t need them. Could be keratin thinking it’s going to make dehydrated limp hair full and bouncy to color on ends when it’s black.
A lot of the time it’s habbit that causes us to do what we do and most times it’s not required. We do get told we are expensive but a lot of times we are cheaper than what you are paying because half the things you do in fact don’t need doing!
Are you wasting time, money and destroying your hair for no good reason?
So you are a guy 👍🏻 you drink beer, like sports and are often told your loud! You shower when someone says you smell and your more into the ladies than your self grooming.
OMG so many issues with that it’s not even funny! But chances are you are a guy ( well 50|50 ) you have hair and get it cut every so often so where do you go? More than likely you do t google much other than the Daily AQI or no Swiggy is not considered google neither it’s what’s app buddy!
So if you need a haircut, want to look good, maybe even the best you have in years then give us a shot! We are fairly awesome and if you open another tab and search Rod Anker Salons you will see!
How many of you have taken your own shampoo to a salon or your own brushes? Are you the person who takes your own equipment to get your nails done? Do you take your own towel to a salon?
I guess your the same person who thinks telling the Italian chef at the hotel he doesn’t make pasta the way you like it.
If by chance you are in fact reading this and you are still thinking, so what I like what I like I guess you are either a global music sensation or the leader of the free world, then we wouldn’t bother explaining it but rather make sure we had a selfie whilst doing your hair. But let’s face it, you are neither and the products you love and want us to use are so bad I think we should be wearing gloves and hope to god no one see’s us or worse gets a photo with it in the same frame!
You wouldn’t go to a doctor with your own medicine or take your own surgical equipment to an operation would you? Sure you may know someone who can get you a great deal on that heart valve but really???
Word to the wise, whilst we respect your love for certain things or products and embrace everyone’s crazy it seems there is a limit.
You need to trust your salon, trust your stylist or find one you trust or possibly find another place to take your stuff too!
Going grey can for some be super dramatic and stressful and the darker your hair is the more you notice it! Often the first few isn’t much of a problem or concern but then slowly over time it’s a few dozen often at the most annoying and visible places. Now covering a few isn’t much drama or maintanence but once the regrowth becomes visible then it becomes problem every few weeks.
How can you fix it?
The easiest way to manage going grey is remembering as we get older our hair should also go slightly lighter. Now not saying we all need to be blonde but if you had black hair when you were 22 and now 45 possibly you shouldn’t still be thinking your hair is black. The darker you color your white hair and the more that there is the more you will notice it!
So if you want a low maintenance hair color and tired of visits to the salon every few weeks it’s maybe time to find out how we can help.
For a lot of people the struggle to get seen is often real, we like to be noticed and in fact at times our life depends on it! Work opportunities go by because your the nice one that always says yes, the one that stays late without question or the one that goes without because that’s just the way you are, nice!
If you want to be seen maybe a fresh color with variation is what you need!
Your mum told you to do it so it must be right, right?
Now before you all decide to spam our inbox keep reading.
Oil & water don’t mix right? No they don’t and hair is dead keratin right? Yes!
Oil doesn’t absorb into the skin does it? No!
You can’t replace the moisture inside your dead keratin you can only protect it!
Oil coats the hair even after washing it multiple times, later upon layer of build up of that oil and it accelerates the heat created by sun, air, wind, Ac etc. the heat seals the oil on your hair and the heat is increased sucking the last bit of moisture out of your dead keratin hair!
Later upon later of oil ( because your mumma said it’s good) now your hair feels like a Brillo pad and tougher than concrete but super shinny ( from the oil coating )
Your mum is wrong!
If you think that oiling you’re hair is right and makes your hair grow, stand in a bucket of water and absorb the water next time your thirsty!
Sometimes things get so bad you really don’t see how it can get better, at the time it feels like you may as well just shave it off and start again. Below is one of those times when a little TLC ( tender loving care ) made the world of difference!
We took the worst parts off creating a blunt finish which made the hair look thicker!
Then we blended the roots into the mid lengths and added ash to the base color to help balance out the gold washed out color. We then gently lightened the ends using Balayagè technique to give the hair depth and shine.
then we did a kindred treatment to close the cuticle and lock in some added moisture into the hair!
This is the final result, as you can see the hair looks so healthy, has shine and instantly looks better!
All this in 2 hours, how are you spending your free time?
Easy to say you want lived in hair and a lot of you want it and think that it literally means doing nothing at all and expecting it to look ” post ready ” without doing anything. The idea of “just got out of bed hair” doesn’t mean just get out of bed and boom, you have awesome hair either.
The secret to getting the look right is doing less but starts with getting the right cut and having your hair in the right condition for it!
Well its not really a secret so here goes..
It starts with getting the right haircut, this doesn’t mean always changing the style, it is about creating the right texture and movement with the cut you have. It may mean growing layers longer or taking them slightly shorter depending on the texture of your hair and the desired style. Our dry cutting technique ensures your hair sits the way it is meant too with minimal effort.
The right Product at the right time, applied in the right way makes the world of difference! A lot of the time we see people using too much or at the wrong time. Can be 2 or 3 products but rarely more, less is best but will depend on your hair, the style and the texture of your hair.
Using tools whilst the thought of doing work to make it look like you didn’t may sound odd, you may need to go over a few small sections to ensure it still looks sorted, can be a few sections with curling or a few bits with irons to smoothen it out!
Whatever your dream hair is, best to sit and have a conversation with your hairstylist on what your ideal hair looks like, the reality to how you currently manage it and the products you have. There is no need to go and buy every product known to mankind in the hope it will change everything as most times you will already have something that can be used and rarely need to be buying more product to achieve the look!
Like everything that is good, we all often wonder what it is about it that makes it they way it is, just like KFC you may be able to make it look the same but it just isn’t the same! Deep fried chicken isn’t KFC’s secret!
Do we have a hidden way of working, nope in fact we have always maintained the same conversation about being transparent and real, if you need something we will tell you, if you don’t we will also tell you! There should be nothing done unless it makes sense otherwise it’s a waste of time and money. Sounds kind of simple but sadly it’s not common place as much as we would like it to be.
Some may think that being blunt is rude, telling you that you don’t need something lazy or turn up on time so everyone enjoy’s a salon that doesn’t run late as rude. But in our defence we feel it makes the experience a win win for everyone.
If you haven’t visited us, we are not a new salon we have been in Meherchand market for 4 years, drop in say hi and have a chat about hair or just come say hi 👋🏻
Trusting a new salon or stylist is always hard, can be hit and miss and at times like they simply don’t listen. The best way to get what you want is through a good solid consultation before anything is done to your hair!
We always suggest that if you haven’t been to us that you allow a little longer so we can sit and go through what you like and don’t like about your hair, what you will do daily and what you simply won’t ever do. It’s only then once there has been a two way discussion that either party knows what needs to be done, what is realistic and what can and can’t be done. It’s from that conversation and how in-depth it is that will determine if you get the hair you want or not!
So if you want good hair, it starts with a solid Q & A and getting to know what’s inside your head!
The reality is very few will have loads of money when they retire, by the time you get there you will need 5-10 times what you thought you would. But we are not talking retirement we are more concerned with today and tomorrow!
A lot of people are not spending any time or money bettering themselves, not reading books, not attending seminars not furthering their education in life or chosen career. It needs to be said that this is your job not your employers, not some stranger you just met or not your parents, IT IS YOU that needs to invest in you! It’s not good enough to sit back and think you earned it and your time is coming, it’s not! You either move forward better yourself or step aside and make way for someone who wants to be better!
Food for thought but not too long because every meal ticket has an expiry!
It’s not a rare comment to be told “ nothing off the length, only the ends of the layers, no bangs but I want a total change”. Not sure what planet some of you live on but I hope you are enjoying the pollution or lack thereof. I can’t cut it short because I wear Sarees or my husband likes it long!?
Get yourself a new wardrobe and a new husband ladies, this is crazy!
If Britney survived shaving her head, a little change is not going to kill you, in fact change is good!
After recently reading an article that was completely wrong, even after being asked for the answers, we thought it best to share again some facts about washing your hair to set things straight. Hairdressing is doing hair and to get others opinions, whilst we welcome that with open arms its best to get hair advice from people who are qualified doing hair not your mum, aunt, vegetable guy or your plumber.
Some say washing your hair every day can cause hair loss?
Well the easy answer is no, however it’s wrong if you use the right shampoo and keep your scalp clean then you are doing everything to have a healthy scalp which means healthy hair growth. If you use a shampoo that is drying or too aggressive, then it can affect your scalp PH leveltherefore possible increase hair loss ( note that it won’t be the only cause and we have never seen someone go bald from shampoo fyi )
Should you water down shampoo?
Absolutely not, this is 100% false both shampoo and co dituonrr in fact should be used in damp hair and excess moisture removed before using it!
Can we apply shampoo directly to your scalp?
Directly onto your scalp yes, isn’t that the purpose? Take from bottle into your hands then apply it directly to your scalp massage well from scalp to ends rinse and repeat if desired!
Do all chemicals damage your hair?
No, if your colouring your hair “out of a box” or trying to DIY chances are whatever you do may do damage. Colouring your hair shouldn’t cause it to look or feel damaged unless your doing other things that effect it! Don’t do home remedies thinking they are all good, some in fact cause more damage than chemicals!
If I want full hair, can I skip conditioner because that makes my hair flat?
No, if it’s too heavy then use something specifically for your hair. Conditioner closes the cuticle of the hair ( the outside layer ) snd prevents moisture leaving the hair!
Does frizziness cause hair fall?
Absolutely not!! Hair fall comes from inside your scalp, breakage is external. Some people have naturally frizzy hair that no product on planet earth can tame, doesn’t mean your going to be bald. Split ends eventually break off if not cut at some point!
Be careful where you get your information from, sadly a lot of wrong information is out there, do your own research and try to get advice from people doing hair. Remember, a makeup artist does makeup, a numerologist studies numbers, a builder builds houses.
If you live in India chances are it does for several reasons, could be the pollution, all the treatments or services you are doing that you don’t need or it could be a build up of pollutants from the water.
Because of the population there is possibly always going to be s pollution issue, unless we all change our garbage Habbits it will take several lifetimes ( do your bit to recycle and compost and not litter before you complain about it )
But we are here to talk about hair so let’s, we see a lot of people doing this or that service simply because it’s on offer or told to them they need it when they actually know they don’t. Not sure why but they just go for it thinking, what harm could it do!
Too much of anything is not good! If you’re getting color for example, putting it through the ends every few weeks is a sure way to end up long term with hair that’s frizzy, dehydrated and split. Then once it is in bad shape you do a keratin treatment in the hope that will make it shinny and smooth.
Now separately they both are true but when you do them both, one to fix what the other has done ( due to improper application ) then you are asking for problems and there will only be one solution…… ✂
So how can you make sure your hair stays healthy and not need constant SOS every 6 months?
• Only color regrowth, the ends can be 1-1.5 shades lighter than roots this actually looks natural.
• Don’t do rebonding if you have any color in your hair
• Only do keratin if you need it, it is not going to add moisture it relaxes the internal structure of your hair, giving you 30% less frizz and curl.
• Trim your hair every 6-8 weeks
• Use a SLS & SLES free shampoo daily followed by a conditioner.
• Do not apply oil, ever. This build up sure it makes it shinny but dehydrates the hair
• When blowdrying don’t over heat the hair, use heat protection products and only iron lightly
• Protein or moisture treatments after every color to balance out the moisture.
If you feel the water quality is causing your hair damage or just want to be sure, rinse your hair in filtered water prior to getting out of the shower.
For those who have lived through seasons and craved fresh sunlight which gives a certain warmth you know what we mean when we say that warm afternoon autumn light. Sadly right now the sky is grey if not a dark shade of brown and there is no blue only in the way we feel.
Hopefully this isn’t going to last much longer and we get a glimpse of blue sky again but in the meantime it could be a sign to freshen up your hair color. Autumn balancing balayage is creating warmth by balancing out your existing color whilst still giving warmth but in variation.
If you have been putting your hair off then it’s time to get it done!
