Here is the thing, you want to grow it but you still need to cut it every 6 weeks!
I know what your thinking and if you maintain less being cut off then obviously it will still get longer, makes sense right?
What happens when you don’t remove split or damaged ends is that the split travels up the hairshaft and more is needed to be cut off. The frayed, Brocken ends make it look dry, out of shape and behave badly ( more than a 3 year old coming off a sugar high ).
Trim every 6 weeks, even if it’s half of what has grown or less, as your hair grows it will be healthy. Prevention is better than cure!
Every now and then we get bored with our clothes, work, routine, life and everything just becomes bla. Its sometimes your perception of what you think versus reality but it still has the same effect, you feel flat.
That stupid saying that ” Change is as good as a holiday” is utter bollocks, give me a beach holiday and keep my hair looking the same anyday ( but I guess it has some merit, since it’s about escaping). If you have never had a change of style, semi drastic then you have never felt the immediate power boost to your inner self, that’s if it suits and done correctly.
There is a very simply rule of thumb we go by and it works 90% of the time, to be able to get you in the right head space if you are unsure of what change you are after.
Firstly understand you don’t have to know what you want, that we can work out with you ( a good hairstylist will ask a lot of questions, almost more than the FBI ). What you do need to know is, you want a change. Sounds odd hearing this, we know but often we get people who don’t want anything off the length, no layers, no bangs, no color change but desperate for a change. 😳
Susan, if you don’t change something we can’t change anything.
When you want to get a color, it’s always a trade off between what is hot and on trend as well as high Maintainence right? After all no one wants a color they need to redo every few weeks, that’s just not practical or cool!
The trick is using multiple tones to add the overall color, the use of varies shades adds depth and texture ( possibly the most over used word ). If it’s highlights you are looking for then using two different colours it changes the way it looks dramatically but yet keeps it low Maintainence. If you go for one color, chances are with less variation the natural hair will be visible faster.
With balayage you are best to keep it to one color and don’t go as light, it looks best when it’s more natural and as if it’s happened over time in the sun. Don’t get fooled by thinking more is better, less is best when colouring your hair typically.
I have known so many people in my life that have had that knee jerk comment ” I will be happy when”!
Could be I will be happy when I’m on the beach, happy when you get the new job, happy when something is over, happy when you have money in the bank etc etc. I never got it, it’s like you give power to the situation and are going to be constantly waiting for something to happen before you are happy, which is kind of stupid.
No matter how many followers you have, what color the tick is or even if your on social media, we are all the same! Stop thinking you will be happy when and start being happy now! Sure you may have been screwed over, things didn’t turn out the way you hoped or even the right people all turned out to be wrong. It’s a moment, it’s not forever!
The most famous, well known or successful people I have ever met no matter what the end goal is, all say the same thing. No matter what you achieve, by the time you achieve it, you have already moved onto a bigger goal so you never feel like you have made it.
Destination happiness is a mystery destination you will never reach regardless of how well your last post fetched numbers!
There is has and always will be some trend food that claims to make your hair grow faster, thicker and healthier and this one is nothing short of a miracle!
The reality is very different and whilst you have another tab open on hacks to increase your Instagram following, just like that tab too it’s all kind of crap!
Your intake is part of what determines hair growth but it’s also genetic, so I guess a cream, lotion or magic berry from the amazon isn’t going to do that much.
There are 5 basic food groups ( google it ) eat from all the required groups daily and you will set your body up for success. Could be training for a marathon or simply wanting to be healthy, it’s the fuel your body needs to function at its best.
Supplements are ok to some extent but understand if something like “folate” helps hair grow, eating folate rich foods and then taking folate tablets isn’t going to double up your growth. Basic common sense, add some of that to your diet and eat healthy, not for a week and expect results it’s more like a lifestyle than a fad.
No food can stop hair fall, it’s like trying to stop your nails growing, you can’t.
If you take a look in the mirror and your a little honest with yourself, just for this exercise ok then you can go back to denial.
If your face shape is slightly long, oval or oblong you can not have long hair and it’s that simple. Look at the image below and try to get it, the hair can either enhance your face shape and make it look longer, or balance it out and make it look more balanced.
Your not ugly it’s just an balance between getting it right and having the hair you think you want!

I kid you not I think if we just write down the questions we get asked, it would make a great comedy skit. Jokes aside and not putting you all down ok so chill out!
The darker the hair, the more red pigment, so regardless of if you are Indian, Chinese, Australian, Pakistani or British hair is the same. The Lighter the hair the easier or shall we say the more achievable it is.
Can we give you a cost?
Easy answer is no because it might go white in 2 applications, it also might take 6 applications over 2 weeks and several toners.
Is it possible?
It’s not up to our skills ( not in an arrogant way ) it’s up to your hair! Several layers of color, the odd keratin treatment and a few fools in there, chances are it will combust before it goes ash!
How long will it take?
Anywhere between 4 hours and 72 hours, is that rough enough for you?
How long will it last?
The tone will change over two weeks and may need doing again. The hair lightness will be there until it grows out! ( you will see dark spots in 2-3 days lol yes 2-3 days)
Between 15,000 – 52,000 rp plus taxes just for the color.
Will it hurt?
Your pocket, yes! Your scalp…. well a bit yes. Imagine not as bad as childbirth but more than a tattoo.
So you have saved up spent hours in the salon and you love the color only to find it wash out or the intensity has washed out after a week. We hear this often and typically one of the biggest causes is wrong shampoo!
Sulfate or SLS will strip the tone of the color faster than anything else, use a sulfate free shampoo!
Yes we stock it, in fact all our shampoo is SLS free.
I guess you could safely say some are still running their salon like a parlour and thats fine for them but to understand the business better you have to understand that this is a people’s business and its about people and the experience you offer.
Because of our setup, being a boutique style operation from time to time we get people offering opinions of what we could do to be packed ( in their opinion ) or to be busier. We don’t jam people into the salon and run on time so its rare that you would see dozens of people standing around waiting. With an occupancy over 50% we cant afford to be busier than what we are, I guess from the outside it may look steady but not overly busy but with the level of work we do, the time is needed in order to maintain the standard so we will keep things as they are for now.
I think that India has changed dramatically over the time I have been here, with family owned business that have run perfectly fine for generations suddenly finding themselves needing to reinvent themselves and not knowing how. We have entered the market with a different mindset, our target market we understand and know what they are after and where they look for it, its not a secret and we don’t try to hide it. Sure we have our own challenges and they will always be there, but its knowing what you are doing and why you are doing itthat defines the end result.
Retail evolved when the customer realised that buying on line was easier and less fuss, yet brands still push majority of there marketing budgets into store based sales and print advertising when in fact the ones that have the money are rarely driven by price rather quality and authenticity. A time when almost every retail store has a A-frame outside saying 20-50% off for a limited time and its been there for months.
Do these type of price driven strategies work? I really don’t think they do, in fact I think they drive you further into a hole that you will struggle for many years to get out of. Now obviously I can already hear you say money is a factor, its ok for you and your clients that can afford you but what about the rest of the world right? Wrong, its quality that you are selling and experience, if you are just selling an object and nothing more, then its a different game you need to play, but if its a service or an experience that the consumer will have then its 100% the quality of the way that service is being delivered.
Its not arrogance when you know what you are doing, or simplicity in approach or appearance for not knowing our shit!
Years ago no one would even bother doing their own hair, it was something that you simply didn’t do yourself. Now we all have a life and a lot to fit into every day so its no surprise that heading to the salon for a blow out is a luxury in terms of time, let alone money. We get that and will always give advice on how to manage your own hair daily, obviously its one thing to get the right haircut that works, technically sound in order to be able to behave even on the worst days, another thing to know how to style it and manage it yourself.
A technically sound haircut, that works long after you have left the salon with the right tools and know how to be able to manage it daily!
It’s no wonder we don’t get time to head to salons like we used too years back, life is jam packed and getting the basics ticked off is hard enough let alone “me time” in a salon right?
It’s one of our things, if you want to call it that. We don’t create a “blow dry” culture with the work we do, not intentional and yes we do blow dry’s but our cut isn’t meant to be forced fed dry or into place.
I’m sure a lot of you have been to a salon and had not one not two but maybe even three people tugging at your hair all at the same time, certainly not relaxing or good for your hair. A good cut should move and to some extent sit into place with little effort.
Gone are the days of overdone hair that is more like an extra from a old English black and white movie, it looks old.
Saying all that, if you eat your hair done, drop us a message on Facebook or Instagram or give us a call, promise you will enjoy it.
You tell yourself little things throughout the day, it’s the mind chatter that will make you or break you. I’m sure you’ve heard it before but it’s hard to direct that little voice that’s job is literally to doubt everything you do or think.
Remember when you were younger and you got dressed up maybe as a super hero and you actually thought you had super powers?!
Imagine if as an adult you believed in yourself even half that much, life would be amazing right?
I think it’s about time you gave the little voice inside your head some zanax and you started to actually take control of what you want, believe in yourself and have that childish “that anything is possible attitude” well before life have you reason to think it wasn’t easy.
I doubt many look at themselves naked and would be like wow, perfection sadly we just don’t do it but maybe we should! Imagine if we only thought about ourselves in a positive light?
The reality is that if you actually believe it, you are more likely to achieve it and it’s that simple, so it only adds weight to the thought that it pays to have positive self talk.
Create the right dialogue with yourself to be uplifting and positive.
