There is always a trend hair color or technique that paths the way for new things. Balayage hair color has been one of those trends that has taken over almost every instagram and Facebook post for over a year now!
If you have been saving every form of balayage for a while now then maybe it’s time to try this hair color now?
Balayage can be done in almost any color, can be bold or traditionally more subtle but the choice is yours depending on your hair. Remember the more you do the more Maintainence you have.
Before you ask the cost understand it depends on length, density of your hair, condition and end result so it’s best for us to see you face to face and we can quote you accurately. Consultations are free!
Because we all like to be rebels, the moment you hear this you may be already planning on giving it a shot. Certain things are harmless to try a DIY and certain things are not, after all I guess years of study there are things that will be taught you can’t get from a 3 1/2 minute YouTube video ( but then again who knows right!)
Things not to try yourself
Replacing your hard drive
Refilling gas cylinders
Cutting or colouring your own hair
Giving your self a hair transplant ( or kidney transplant for that matter )
Waxing your Va-jay-jay
And no I didn’t slip the hair ones in to be all dramatic, we have seen some whoppers come try and fixing it after things have gone terribly wrong. Understand some things are better done by someone who does it for a living after studying for years.
Have you ever got to the point where your hair has had so much done to it, to try and make your life easier yet everything you do is making it worse?
It needs rescuing, it needs someone to tell you to stop, reassess and work out the smartest way to get you back in track. Keep in mind a lot of salons motivations are to add cash in till versus actually fixing the problem, a lot of the time to fix the problem it will involve not doing what you want and you not getting things your way ( that’s why it’s hard to hear sometimes and you may search for a faster result, which doesn’t exist ).
We find a lot of clients come to us after trying to get their dream hair after they have had a series of expensive ” it’s going to solve all your problems” services. Good or bad, we are know not to sugar coat much, what you see is what you get!
When your not feeling your best and someone tells you something will fix it, you tend to believe them because they are the professionals after all but no matter where you live, you really need to do your fact checking first. I would always suggest google but again you need to filter that too, a lot of companies pay people to slag off other companies online ( I know right 😂) so some amount of common sense is involved when looking and it’s always advisable to get a face to face ( it’s free ) and get opinions.
Honestly most of you probably don’t even use your phone to call anyone anymore, laptops are hardly used and most of our work is done from your mobile. Shit I’m writing this on my phone, uploading images and posting it from bed.
When we think about work and marketing it’s completely a waste of time almost having a landline number, in fact at home I don’t have one, who even does anymore.
With 70-80% of our bookings now being done via DM’s on social media it means we are open 24/7 which is cool, hard work but cool. It’s honestly great to be connected to everyone all the time, sure eventually we all need some time off but if it’s 11pm on a Saturday night and you decide you want to get your hair done the next morning then it’s easy AF to slide a DM and wait.
Sure if the business isn’t going to answer for 24 hours then it’s useless but if it all works then it’s solid gold!
Remember not so long ago, almost every guy walking around had their hairline cut so square and high it made the look like a Lego character. It was terrible, grew out in 2-3 days and looked hideous!
Welcome the fade haircut! Tapered in from nothing it creates a very smooth tailored finish and can be done slightly longer so it’s not so short. Obviously the shorter the cooler it looks and the longer it will last. You can have a high fade ( like above ) or a drop fade ( which is only fading lower. Either way we love it!
Remember back when you were 23 life was gold, you could stay out till 4am drink like a fish, eat whatever you want and still be on top of your game at 10am?
Well your now a little older and that type of life, even the thought of it makes you feel sick just thinking about it. Guess what, as you get older things change, yep sure you always bagged people who used to have a bad back or struggled after s big night but that’s you now!
Your hair at 19 is never ever ever going to be the same when you are 25-30-35 or 50 and no matter how many times you tell yourself, or us it’s not going to change it! It’s life and your body changes, can you turn the clock back….. in short no. Yes there are products and diet that may help marginally to ensure the best possible hair but it’s not going to be the same ever again!
Moral of the story?
Enjoy what you have, when you have it, embrace change and make the most of what’s in front of you. No matter what, tomorrow won’t be the same as it is today, it’s change and you need to be happy your alive.
Now maybe because I didn’t grow up here or maybe because I’m naturally ignorant but I’m kind of blazè when it comes to Bollywood ( sorry ). By that I mean I would barely wait in a line for French fries let alone to see someone’s face. In fact even if I was 5 years old waiting to sit on Santa’s knee for that traditional photo in the shopping centre, I still don’t think I would bother.
Having the chance to meet some amazing people some work in offices, some outside and some in movies, sorry to break your bubble….they are, we are, all the same.
Therefore we don’t go down that route of posting photos, unless it makes them more normal that is.
And whoever can eat a Hamburger like this boss Chrissy Teigen then deserves every bit of shoutout possible.
If your celebrity crush can’t woof down a quarter pounder like a boss, are they even crush worthy? Ask yourself that!
We all hold onto things that aren’t working or don’t fit, could be because you like the idea of it or it could be you are scared of the options. Either way at some point you have to just let it go. If your plant is dying you don’t just sit there and watch it die do you?
Now we aren’t saying shave your hair off, although for some you absolutely should. What we are saying is don’t hold on to it and expect things to miraculously change.
If you always do what you always done, you will always get what you already have!
In other words, nothing will change until you do, it’s really that simple. So if your holding on thinking things are about to change, chances are they won’t unless you change first.
Well in our quest to make sure we cover everything, leaving nothing out we wanted to give a big shout to the basics which we see are s new thing in some salons and bathrooms!
We are talking about how to remove knots!
Now it’s not a new thing to start from the bottom, but some people just like to rip it out like it’s a birthday present or something but it’s not! Combing directly from the roots whilst you have these tangles will cause damage to your hair and possibly break, split and create so much drama in your hair that only scissors will fix it!
So make sure you start from the bottom and remove the knots as you work up the hair, another amazing invention is this little beauty, the Tangle Teezer which will get the knots out quicker than the sale items being sold out at the season end Sale at Zara.
It’s a fairly common request ” I want to be ash blonde” typically like it’s ordering a pizza with little understanding what’s involved or if it’s even possible. After all that’s our job so we are cool with it, but want to shed some light on the facts about it.
Now without getting overly technical the above photo is not on dark hair, the base color is lighter and has a slightly warmer tone, the highlights however are ash so the two combined give you what you are seeing not the individual “ash” color.
The darker you are the more gold/red pigment your hair has & will throw off when it’s lightened.
To get “ash” your hair must be lightened ( it doesn’t come out of a tube, it’s a process and not typically a short one either ) and to keep the hair in one piece would require 2-3 applications then toning. Sadly I have seen foils being done and irons or a hairdryer put over the foils to speed it up ( your hair will be fried, cuticle will snap off and I can guarantee it’s gold as your reading this. Bleaching hair you should not add heat, you can’t speed up the process! There is no short cuts only bad decisions and poorly educated people doing it or endorsing the wrong people.
So can it be ash on dark hair?
Yes but check out the photo above, you can see super light sections and some slightly gold right, that’s because it’s done over several sittings to get the hair light and keep it on your head.
Now whilst you think you may want ash, chances are even after you get it ( if it’s possible ) you will have upkeep you will need to do in order for it to stay the right tone!
Possible yes, easy no but possible and for those claiming you have ash, this is what ash actually looks like!
So if you have had a bad color, give us a call let’s see what we can do to get your hair instagram ready!
Seasons come and go and we all tend to follow clothes trends but very few will flip their hair look as often. Chances are it will be two or three seasons of “I’m growing it” or I like it short and not much in between.
We love our bae Merrylin Boro who within the last 8 months had the following looks,
The Bowl haircut
Shag with micro bangs
Micro bob and micro bangs
And now is growing the bangs out! It’s one thing to hold onto something that works for you it’s another not to move with a look and this is what we all strive for.
Evolving your hair look should be lots of small changes so you don’t get bored and people looking at you are constantly looking at something fresh!
We get asked a lot now about wash and wear hair vs overdone blowouts which are kind of outdated and tend to leave you looking like an Auntie from an Indian TV drama from circa 1970’s. We are very anti fuss and in fact promote easy hair as it brings out your personality and if managed correctly looks best.
Can you get a blow out, of course you can, but it shouldn’t look too stiff and stuck into place or you run the risk looking older than you are, unless you’re trying to look older to get into clubs that is. It’s not about having messy hair it’s about having hair that you can actually manage at home yourself.
Who needs extra work when getting ready?
Using our signature dry cutting which is more than just cutting hair dry ( it’s about cutting it into the shape pre washing and post drying using a Japanese technique of cutting ) enables you the hair to be encouraged to sit a certain way. Now this doesn’t mean defy gravity but rather assist dramatically in the “wash and go” look so you can look good everyday.
If we can’t make you look good chances are, your Ugly
The rain comes and you are all suddenly on the Internet searching for a miracle ( sorry but 😂) the extra moisture in the air causes hair to go crazier than your first boyfriend but there is a solution but you probably won’t like it but here goes.
Hair and the curl is a direct reflection of the moisture content of your hair, the more moisture the cleaner the curl, less moisture ( internally ) the more misbehaved the curl. If you want a product you most likely have already in your bathroom try a serum when it’s wet and again gently applied.
Tips to help prevent frizz
If your a hair maintained ( trimmed every 6-8 weeks regardless if your growing it or not ) this removes split ends that will themselves add to the frizz.
If you are one of those people who flips your hair upside down shakes it, or wraps it in a towel on top of your head stop doing it!!! This type of mistreatment will only add aggregation to your hair once dry, pat it dry don’t rub it like you’re drying a wet dog!
When you have the conditioner in each time you wash it ( and you should condition it every time, it closes the cuticle and prevents moisture escaping ) use a wide tooth comb when it’s in and detangle.
If you get a blow out, chances are at some point you have experienced the hairstylist burning your hair into place vs gently encouraging it. Finish the blow out with cool air, this helps close the cuticle giving it shine and keeping the moisture inside.
Use 2-3 drops of Serum ( we recommend Cristali Liquid by Alfa Parf ) when it’s freshly washed and again as it’s 90% dry
So recently I met someone who had lost a LOT of weight, we got chatting ( my first reaction was is she sick? ) she had been on a “trend diet” loosing over 10kg in a matter of two months which is crazy!
After we finished chatting and me thinking wtf I need to know what she did here, we started talking hair and this is when I knew something was wrong. About 30% of her hair at the top had fallen out, like gone, vanished finito bye bye. I Couldn’t believe what I was seeing it was crazy how suddenly this had happened between visits.
You all need to know the basics behind a healthy lifestyle and food, rather than possible having a flirtatious relationship with what goes into your mouth or treating it like fuel, try thinking about it as the difference between health and sickness. We get a lot of people ask ” what should I eat to make my hair grow longer faster etc etc” these same people literally put their hair through hell, most times not even getting it trimmed regularly, over doing colours and damaging it constantly. Yet expect eating a so called ” super food” will make it all go away…. it won’t.
Before you get into a diet that will surely drop a few kilos fast it’s important to know you could be entering into a situation leaving your body short of what it needs and could experience all sorts of side effects. Our bodies need certain things in order to function properly so ensure that’s happening before you try and defy science and think you can break the law of nature.
