Every year, or season there is one signature cut that is it and 2017 this it it! The shag lob cut
2017 is about free flowing and undone, it’s about being you shamelessly without regret or explanation. Being you is more beautiful and sexy than any blowout you or any salon could possibly do.
To get this cut it’s about texture and whilst everyone doesn’t have this amount of curl, if your hair has some movement you can still work with it to create a similar shape.
Products to get this look are as sexy as the end result, sea salt spray serum and that’s it. Sure, if your not a natural IT girl then you probably not feel comfortable but if you want to stand out then maybe it’s time to evolve!
It’s still a common phrase “being connected” and most of the time it’s used we all know what it means. Daddy’s uncle works for xyz or whatever but in fact we couldn’t care less unless he wants to get a haircut.
Being connected to us is about being connected to what’s happening, who is doing what, who, where etc but not in a creepy way.
If your not following us on social media then it’s about time you did!
With information so accessible it’s still a global mystery who some people still think some of these things work. We’re going to focus on washing your hair, rather than bombard you with all the right information in one go ok!
Some people say the more you wash it the more it falls out?
Absolutely false, nonsense and completely opposite in fact if you don’t wash your hair/scalp enough it can cause hair loss. 100% safe to shampoo daily.
I use an anti dandruff shampoo and if I try to stop using it my scalp becomes so dry why?
Easy, most so called dandruff shampoo is so full of harsh detergents that your scalp is over cleansed, removed from everything so the moment you stop and change shampoo your body which has been working faster to produce oil to combat the drying effects from the shampoo not almost overnight the dryness returns. Kind of like a natural marketing trick to keep you hooked. Stop using it and for 2 weeks wash it daily and it will get better and your body will Adjust.
Natural oils good or bad?
Ok so this one we have heard it all, your body produces oil, sebum oil ( it’s not coconut or almond oil not olive oil ) now this is for no other reason than to create the right ph on your scalp, the perfect combination of oil ( sebaceous oil ) and water (perspiration). Is it good to have overly oily hair? NO Should you not wash it to get the oils to protect the hair? NO. The scalp needs daily shampooing especially in areas the temperature doesn’t go below 25-30 almost all year.
Oil attracts dust and dirt and it gets stuck to it, then the heat it becomes bacteria and now you have a itchy scalp. Most people who get an itchy scalp could be cured if they washed daily with the right shampoo but yet happy to keep scratching because either their mum or a blogger decided to promote their mothers ideas vs actual facts.
If you want a healthy scalp you need to know what is myth and what is real!
We have spoken about it until we ran out of breathe, yet a lot of you have a “in one ear out the other” way of listening so we thought sooner or later it may stick but we should keep trying. Maybe we should just simply say your hair that big makes you look fat or your hair looks aweful but we decided not too name names.
Your face shape determines if full hair or “bounce” should be worn. Just because you life south of the city centre doesn’t mean you should be constantly kissing the air, have hair bigger than your farmhouse or be wearing it like a wig you bought at the export market.
For goodness sake people if you want saving fromlooking back at your perfectly hastaged photos and not wanting to barf up last nights dinner call us now I’m serious!
The boss has been busy touring the country with Vogue & Pantene searching for the strongest hair. Travelling around India the team is looking for strong healthy hair.
When you’re looking for strong hair, it’s hair that isn’t over treated but yet has the basic elements of strength. Hair care has a lot to do with it along with how you have been taking care of it! Pantene are looking for the strongest heads of hair and the winners will be featured in a video with Priyanka Chopra.
So you hashtag all the right things, your wardrobe if filled with every designer that ever made anything ever yet your hair looks like a washed up sea weed snot!
Maybe it is that you ran out of money or time since you obviously spent more time, money and attention on finding all of the worlds most hideous outfits you ran out of time to sort out your hair?
Ok jokes aside or we could be here all day! If you want to look good then you need to have more than just an opinion about hair, you need to plan it, book it and maintain it. No amount of labels will look good if your hair is looking like an outdated dress that didn’t fit then and doesn’t fit now!
Sometimes seeing a hair promotion or a sale at your favourite clothing store you end up buying something you simply don’t need, you’re human after all and 50% off just sounds so good. It’s been a hard week and somehow made you feel better right?
Hair is not a skirt you won’t wear and can hang it up safely and no think about again until you clean out your wardrobe, you will wake up one morning and realise you should not have done what you have done and most likely didn’t need to do it either!
What can you do after it’s ruined? Well not a lot but depending on how bad it is, there are treatments which help for sure but the only real way to remove split ends is by cutting them off and that is a fact!
Trust the one that says no, you can not push or sell services in a hair salon as much as you can push and sell drugs in a hospital. If you need it then it’s there, if you don’t you don’t. Sometimes it may be what you think you want but in fact be the worst thing you could do.
So you jumped through all the hoops, visa’s, tickets accommodation, time off work, getting the house and car sorted etc etc now it’s time to pack. By this point you could not be bothered but obviously you need to or you will be wearing the clothes your wearing the entire time or have to deal with the climate change and suffer!
Your hair should only need the basics and if your on holiday then your hair should look like it and you shouldn’t be searching salons to be getting your blow out, your on holidays! So here are the essentials you need to pack
Shampoo & conditioner
Wide tooth comb
Leave in serum
Hair scrunchie and hair elastics.
Dry shampoo if your camping
Now all your wet products put the lids on and tape the lids closed. Place in a zip lock bag then inside a plastic bag and tie it up, no one wants that all over your clothes.
Remember what happens in a different zip code stays in that zip code, enjoy!
We all have selected memories and when we are 3-4 whatever our hair looks like we will hold onto that forever and tell people that’s what our hair is, be it black, curly, blonde or thick you will always have this hair as your baseline.
Sorry but this is not an indication of your hair, up too 14-18yrs old your hair is still changing however after that would possibly be more realistic than early. Some ( a large portion ) of children are born with thin hair, which will thicken up over the first 12-18 months it may start out curly and shortly after its cut go straight this is normal.
So sitting in the chair when your 40 saying I don’t know what happened I used to have curly hair ( when you were 3 ) is not a realistic comment.
Texture, density & color changes over time this is normal and is from many factors and 99.9% are out of your control.
We are as much to blame for getting down to talking about work we thought it good to talk about goals and life. From all the people we have met, all the famous people, successful people, beautiful humans it’s clear that the people who stand out have one thing in common!
Belief in themselves, after all if you don’t believe in you who will. Everyone on the planet is born with the same things, it’s what you do with it and what outlook on life you have that defines you.
Bring the most commonly used colors, black or even dark brown is possibly the hardest to get out of your hair. If you have white hair the variation between the two colors makes the contrast even more difficult to hide or disguise.
To go cold turkey and simply not color it and let it grow out will not only leave you looking like your 10-15 years older than you are so that’s simply not an option unless you plan on moving to a remote location for the next 6-12 months.
Here is how you do it, we call it the reverse fade in and it makes the transition east and liveable so relax there is help.
Firstly you need to understand that a blanket ( total ) coverage needs to be Brocken up and you need to start getting the new white hair less covered, a little translucent so the contrast is not as much therefore freeing you up with time, saving you money and most of all not having to color your hair every 10-12 days!
For the next 3-4 colors they will be done 1/2 shade lighter and mixed slightly different so you don’t get a blanket coverage, it will mask but not cover like 85-90%.
After your 4th touch up we add highlights to the ends to break it up to try and remove the solidness of it. Then take the base color 2 shades lighter, this is when people will see the results. We keep doing this until the lighter growth is more than the darkness then remove some length and boom your lighter, more natural and have more freedom and not stuck into getting touch ups every 10 days unless it’s at the club on a Friday night 😝
Remember when you liked someone, you thought they were cute and you wanted them to love the music you liked, because you never for a minute people could have different tastes and you just wanted to be romantic and cool 😎
Well access to Music being what it is not only is a mixed tape not going to cut it, although it’s a cool thought if you can get your hands on both a cassette as well as a player ( other than you 😜) besides that guys understand considering a swipe left is all it takes now you really need to have your game ready and not rely on a mixed tape to get you over the line.
If you like our music in the salon and you will, let us know we can cut you a thumb drive ( see it’s not as cool ) or share our playlist.
You have searched in the dark, googled it, read every bloggers opinion ( and they have a lottt!) you asked your friends, you read all the magazines you could but yet no luck to find it! Siri keeps telling you not to ask such questions.
Are you set for a life of misery? Are you never going to experience that omfg feeling? Is the promise of tomorrow going to never happen?
No it’s ok chill out here it is
The spot to get awesome hair of course! Click on Rod Anker Salon for our location pin, which will be not such a mystery for hot hair now!
Sure if you still can’t find us get on the phone and call us we will guide you 📞 01141010011
You know I’m right but when it comes to things like New Year’s Eve typically we all have the best expectations for the following year and promise ourselves to do XYZ yet several weeks or months later it’s the same old shit and nothing has changed. You’re sleeping past the alarm, skipping gym, work home balance has gone for a toss and you are no closer to that overseas trip than you were 12 months ago. You promised yourself so much yet it’s the same thing, why?
Well humans are lazy 👽 it’s a fact and we can find exudes for almost anything and pass the blame to almost anyone because we are creative 😂
Your hair needs Maintainence, every 6-8 weeks regardless of the length it needs trim or refreshing the color. If you plan it ahead of time chances are you will forget too even after a reminder call. Put it into your dairy, ever 6 weeks regardless.
You don’t appreciate most things until the day you can’t have them anymore, or they leave. Do t wait and think about it, plan it
It’s kind of amusing that things have changed so fast it terms of what’s cool that you have some people trying to be cool and failing terribly #luxlife and all the other hashtags that will make you want to wet your pants. Why try and be someone your not? Why are they putting so much effort into being cool?
It’s because in the space of 12 months the old school ways are now no longer relevant, the people who used to be opinion makers don’t get the new way people communicate, dress or talk. The trick here is about being authentic vs putting on a front, new age will not bother they are more comfortable being themselves vs keeping anyone happy other than themselves.
Be authentic, don’t lie to yourself and don’t wait another minute to take control of what you actually want.
Well firstly Happy Independence day, we thought about it and pondered what to talk about then we thought no one really does everything themselves we all rely on someone else for something don’t we? You’re sitting in the ( what you call ) parlor getting your hair burnt to a crisp, with your hair smoking from the torture of inexperience yet you feel your in control.
Sadly your not, the fact that you think you are is a sign your hair will eventually and soon I suspect either self combust or simple fall off your head who knows.
Try learning true independence with your hair as far as blow drying it will make your life better and your hair will thank you.
Stop being lazy, it’s easy sure but it is ruining your hair
So with a headline like that you are all going to have a fairly large expectation of the next few paragraphs which makes us a little nervous. We will try to make this life changing and sure that you’re not as dumb as we were told, well we 🙏🏻
You grew up with certain Habbits and no matter how many times companies will print it, you still don’t read it!
Wet hair and then squeeze out excessive moisture.
Empty a small amount of shampoo in your hand.
Work the shampoo onto both hands.
Massage it into yours scalp and then hair.
Massage for approx 1-1.5 min
Rinse well and repeat
Remove excessive moisture.
Apply amount of conditioner in your palm, work it into both hands.
What you do in the bedroom is your business and we certainly are not going to judge you.
But if you have to either plaster your hair down with hairspray or worst put rope on it to keep it looking good, then the chances are that you have not experienced your hair done right ✅
Cutting hair and wait this might be a surprise to some of you is a combination of art and science. It’s not a text book exam once you learn one cut you’re good to go, in fact every single head of hair is unique so it is learnt and perfected over a long time with extensive training.
Is the salon your going too, have this level of understanding?
Yep you met 12 months ago and each time spent at least an hour getting ready, choosing the perfect outfit, the right underwear, spraying perfume in all the right places and you ffwd 12 months and your here 😳
Sure it was a thrill at the start and now your super comfy, it’s not a bad thing in fact it’s that happy place everyone in the first stage wants but once you’re there you wonder what happened. It’s a case of the grass is always greener, guess what it’s not.
Imagine you get your hair cut into a FAF new style, you love it, you keep touching it, you take photos of it, you tell all your friends about it, you blow daily ( sorry had to add that in 😂), you only take it out when you’re looking on fleek. A few weeks later it’s up in a pony tail, only getting washed a few times a week and you let it air dry. Same right?
Well the two have one thing in common, we get used to it and once we have seen it a few times you take it for granted and seek a new thrill. That’s wrong, it’s not the thrill of change that needs to change it’s the way you look at it and the way it’s presented. Change things up, don’t get in a rut, keep altering things, grow, cut, go places and try new things constantly.
Sometimes the one thing we could spend all our life looking for is right in front of us.
Speaking out of experience even naked taking a poop this barbie is limited edition 😻
From the runways to well planned fashion editorials, colouring eyebrows is not a new thing. We have seen many times models bleaching them white so they look like they done have any or you doing yours black because it makes them look thicker.
But now there is pastel eyebrow porn, yeah we don’t see it becoming a trend that will be hitting the streets anytime soon but you never know.
We like to keep you up to date with what’s going on, often it’s nonsense but hey some days there is a lot and other days it’s like reporting a cat rescue story. That’s life
Yes yes yes we know you have been dying to get in and it could not come at a better time with the humidity at its peak! Meherchand Market salon is where it is at!
Get yourself a 2-3 strand box braid from 600rp and it takes about 10-12 min! WTF right 😀
Oh I want a 10 strand box braid we hear you saying, we ok then we can do that too, additional 150 per strand for the extra 7. Makes sense? If you have a certain request then give us a shout our Braid artist is the Bomb!! Phone us 01141010011
You have to wonder how some people can spend so much time on what they wear yet clearly spend zero amount of time on their hair. Not saying you should be spending hours in fact not at all, just the usual amount of Maintainence done from a professional salon and not done in a rush or adhok!!!
When you can invest in your clothes, your shoes and make up and not give your hair a second thought, it makes everything look like a walking disaster!
Are you getting my point?
Maybe just maybe it’s time to step it up and finish things off properly?
Doesn’t it make sense to invest the same amount of effort into your hair, after all you will wear it every day.
When you’re planning your week, there is typically the last minute thing that comes up or simply your hair is not going to survive another 10 min let alone another night sleep and till tomorrow night. You have never been the one to do it yourself, your a princess 👸 and the most convenient salon is quick, 3 min from your house and always free besides the fact that it’s only 300rp.
But the thing that is creating convenience and is cheap as chips is causing damage that is costing you more once you stop and take the time to actually get your hair done properly. The real issue is trying to do something fast vs the right way and it is always a trade off but it doesn’t have to be!
Things to watch out for while your blowing out your hair!
Practice doing your own hair, like a quick fix type styling, could be braids, top knot to a full blow out it just needs practice.
Don’t let anyone burn your hair when blowdrying it, burning will feel like they are pulling your hair between the brush and dryer. You will also hear the dryer working hard to set your hair on fire at that point.
It gets ironed or tonged way too much, the irons are set on too high and gone over your hair too.
Use a serum or leave in conditioner.
If you put in a little work then it’s easy to have good hair.
We get asked if it is just Rod doing hair, the answer is no. We have a team of stylists that all do hair, but keep in mind we do hair, we only do hair we are not a parlor, a beauty salon and not a place in mid west America serving beer by the bucket ( that’s a Saloon 😂 )
We have two floors in the centre of Meherchand market, beside Altitude Cafe.
If you haven’t experienced the fresh approach to hair and tired of the same old hair then it’s about time you came and visited us!
You can shout out to us on social media email or the old school way
If you live in India chances are it does for several reasons, could be the pollution, all the treatments or services you are doing that you don’t need or it could be a build up of pollutants from the water.
Because of the population there is possibly always going to be s pollution issue, unless we all change our garbage Habbits it will take several lifetimes ( do your bit to recycle and compost and not litter before you complain about it )
But we are here to talk about hair so let’s, we see a lot of people doing this or that service simply because it’s on offer or told to them they need it when they actually know they don’t. Not sure why but they just go for it thinking, what harm could it do!
Too much of anything is not good! If you’re getting color for example, putting it through the ends every few weeks is a sure way to end up long term with hair that’s frizzy, dehydrated and split. Then once it is in bad shape you do a keratin treatment in the hope that will make it shinny and smooth.
Now separately they both are true but when you do them both, one to fix what the other has done ( due to improper application ) then you are asking for problems and there will only be one solution…… ✂
So how can you make sure your hair stays healthy and not need constant SOS every 6 months?
Only color regrowth, the ends can be 1-1.5 shades lighter than roots this actually looks natural.
Don’t do rebonding if you have any color in your hair
Only do keratin if you need it, it is not going to add moisture it relaxes the internal structure of your hair, giving you 30% less frizz and curl.
Trim your hair every 6-8 weeks
Use a SLS & SLES free shampoo daily followed by a conditioner.
Do not apply oil, ever. This build up sure it makes it shinny but dehydrates the hair
When blowdrying don’t over heat the hair, use heat protection products and only iron lightly
Protein or moisture treatments after every color to balance out the moisture.
If you feel the water quality is causing your hair damage or just want to be sure, rinse your hair in filtered water prior to getting out of the shower.
When you’re planning your wedding 👰🏻 anywhere it’s always a huge task to coordinate everything and forever you have imagined things a certain way. Well that’s exactly what Rod spoke about early today in his Master Class with Vogue.
Hair needs preparation for the day or series of events that should get your hair ready to look it’s absolute best. The lead up or prep tie should be 4-5 months to make sure the color, length and condition is perfect.
When to do color prior to the weddding? 3-4 days prior
When should you get it cut? 1-2 weeks before
When is the right time for keratin if your hair requires it? Should be 2 weeks before the wedding
Can you add shine?
Yes you can do it several ways, add a clear gloss as a color, these are a specific color that is 100% clear it’s only job is to add shine, does not cover grey at all. Also there are shine sprays which are great but be careful as they can make it look oily if over done.
You can backcomb or use padding for sure but also there are viluixinh powders that create a grip for the hair that adds volume. Several products are available here in India both Label M and Schwarzkopf have them.
Imagine adding a few kilos, basic clothes, a bad haircut and no filters fast forward a few years and this is what page 3 could look like! Your favourite Celebrities all photoshopped to look different in ways you have never seen them and hopefully never will!
Am dead but reality is they still look good! Well in most part
With every change of season we all experience an increase of hair fall, it’s normal, you can expect 50-150 hairs falling out per day, yes per day!
Now no matter who you are, you are already saying omg I loose so much more than that, chances are you’re not chances are you have never physically sat and counted them nor you ever will! With 90% of the hair on your head in the growing stage and 10% in the resting stage, the 10% will eventually fall out and be replaced with new hair growth.
Now several other factors begore closing this tab and continuing your searches!
If you wash your hair every 2-3 days the chances of those 50-150 hair being gone are slim the last 2-3 days of loose hair will come loose when you shampoo so chill it’s not more, the hair has simply got stuck there.
Vitamins and diet, if you eat right and sleep tight there is no need to do anything else. Vitamins if you’re lacking in one area.
Treatments work? You MAY experience in the vacinity of 1-3% difference but hardly. Remember it’s seasonally excelerated.
Get the facts and don’t be sucked into buying treatments or products that claim can give you a full head of hair, they don’t work!
Seems like the word “influencer” is the new buzz word everyone wants to add to their bio like it’s going to somehow give them the ability to be a shape shifter or an ability to change people’s buying Habbits.
Being labelled this is not your role it’s others role to label you and not your bff sitting at home watching re runs of 90’s sitcoms tagging you in memes 5 times per hour saying OMG I Iove your feed, girl great click!
You’re a person with an Instagram account, its completely different if a company or a respected publication or brand labels you, but sorry to be the bearer of bad news adding it on your bio because you want it is like adding “Millionare” because one day you want to be rich.
Sadly you sit in the back of the car, even shouting at the top of your lungs for the driver to change lanes, he doesn’t listen to you so how on earth could you influence others. If you post some nice pictures ( or you call clicks) that’s great, you also write in your posts that ” sorry I haven’t posted in a while, been super busy” sweetheart no one is even bothered. We are surprised that there are some that buy followers and likes and think that by doing this in some strange way will make them famous or successful, when there is nothing more than surface face which lasts about 3-7 seconds after someone stumbles on your profile then realises that that ” Click” you posted looking hideous has thousand likes and the link in your bio is a dead end.
Try being the best at whatever you are doing, rather than trying to scam success, chances are if its meant to be you will become famous at what you actually do, unless thats nothing then your in trouble!
This is not aimed at one person this is based on so many adding this word into their Bio.
Choosing the right salon is not something you should be walking off the street doing without checking them out first!
With 80% of our business coming on line through social media we find it’s super important today more than ever to be connected, to our actual consumers. We talk about real issues, we don’t oversell as this is not who we are as a brand, if you are better off with a service we will tell you, if not we simply won’t. After all isn’t it better to be honest?
If you are looking for a new salon guys then take direction from your x girlfriend and start stalking to find out more Our InstagramOur Facebook ( because we know you need a little help the link is there 😂)
Well that certainly would not taste good so no matter how pretty it may look in this photo, it’s wrong on so many levels!!
Now the reason why I bring up sushi 🍣 cat 🐱 is simply to say no matter what pretty little picture you have saved from trolling on line, no matter how many of your Gucci handbag lovers say ” Oh my god you totally should” do this or that with your hair, if we say you should not then the answer as much as you don’t want to hear it…. you must listen!
You invest time and money on your hair so you must maintain it between salon visits to make sure it doesn’t wash out!
What are the causes of color fade and how can you prevent having a faded washed out color!
There are two basic principles why your color will fade,
Home hair care
Now they both have various factors to consider so here goes.
Could be you have tried to do something to your hair that it simply can’t take or should never have been done and now it’s damaged beyond repair. Once the cuticle is stripped from the hair there is no way to fix it other than scissors, certainly most color won’t hold and wash out super fast.
It could be you have rebonded over and over again and then coloured which was the last chemical your hair could take, could be your doing global color over and over again which is drying the hair out! Global color is not needed every time in fact not even recommended, should be ONLY done when you are changing the color.
What you do with it once you leave the salon will either keep the color the way it is meant to be or wash it out quicker than it took to get it done. Shampoo can completely wash out your color if it is not for your hair, you need a sulfate free shampoo and you must be using conditioner every time as this closes the cuticle hence protecting the color molecule from being exposed to the environment and fading.
If your hair is suitable a leave in serum and/or a leave in conditioner may also be needed.
Something about reaching 200k followers on Facebook so I needed to share. After being hairdressing over 25 years, in 4 counties approx 50,000 heads of hair done directly by me, international celebrities, political leaders, Royal families, movie actors, television hosts, CEO’s of global companies, mums, dads and the occasional John Smith, 1350 posts on this site & another 300 on several others, countless “collaborations”, featured in magazines & television, hair for heads of state, prime ministers, Hollywood & Bollywood celebrities, billionaires and CEO’s of global companies, several private charter trips for work, over 310 commercial flights for work, a couple of private chartered flights for special clients, product endorsements, product training, seminars teaching in many countries, countless hours on the backend doing whatever is needed, saying no to a crazy amount of things, saying yes to some whacky things that paid off, risking everything and coming to another country with nothing but a suitcase and a few hundred dollars. Meeting my soul mate and calling it home!
200k+ and verified not bad for someone who never wanted to be active on Facebook! Another 100k on Instagram and verified 😜 Thanks Merrylin who 4 years ago told me I should 😍
So yeah I guess you could say it has come easy, since I’m editing this on a Saturday night instead of heading out. Before you say someone else is lucky or has had it easy ask yourself and be honest if you do WHATEVER it takes and if the answer is yes then you need to start and stop pissing your life up against the wall!
Thanks everyone who bothers to read this nonsense.
If you have just given up on trying because it’s just to plain hard, then it’s time to invest some time on finding the right hair salon for you and your hair. It’s like saying nothing fits you’re over it I’m not wearing clothes, you won’t I hope so you have to sort it out.
Obviously you need to find a salon that is capable of doing what it is you are after, not just promises but actually can do it. Let’s be honest tho almost all may just say yes yes but at the end of it you’re left looking more like a oh no than a yes yes.
Drop into any salon and have a talk about your hair, this does not cost money it’s free and you can get a good sense of the people while you are there. Ask as many questions as possible and don’t book anything just take a card. Go home think then decide.
Just because you have had a few bad experiences the right salon is out there don’t give up!
