The new Vertical
When you come across something good or even great, it’s almost like you have to talk about it because it’s just plain awesome. It’s like something this business is doing has just clicked and it’s perfect. Now once everyone knows that the secret recipe is bang on, some people try the old ” let’s exploit it and add another vertical” in the attempt to be everything for everyone rather than continue to perform and refine. Where things go south ( pardon the pun ) is when the business owner or investor adds another “vertical” to try to exploit the success or add another revenue stream because well that’s what they were taught.
The biggest issue when you spread yourself so thin is the same as spreading Nutella thin on your toast ( it’s not cheap lol ) you get a taste but it’s just not the same. The formula that was working at the start when you did one thing amazing is not multiple things being delivered average. The only thing that has changed is your focus and cost has gone up and your quality has gone down!
We focus on developing our core strength “Hair” to be delivering the best globally not only in quality but to be connected to our consumer better than any salon or any business.
That’s it, that’s our focus. That’s our vertical. We don’t spread ourself thin!
