We have all seen it on someone, you may call it gold, you may call it red but regardless what you call it unless its intentional it can look ugly!
Now every hair on the planet as well as your head has undertone color and without going into a technical explanation lets just understand the basics, if you lighten your hair or put your hair through a chemical process, chances are at some point the cuticle has been opened. By opening the cuticle you are allowing the sun and environment to lighten your hair further and the hair color will change, bringing out the under tone color. We see a lot of people that color their hair dark and go out in the sun, after a few weeks its looking gold or red, this is because the hair is lightening and your undertone is showing through.
Do you color it again to cover it, is that the answer?
Not always needed but depends on case to case to be honest, the best way is prevention. When colouring your hair it needs to be done knowing your hair texture and condition and if fading is an issue then color concentrates can be used so when it fades it is not so obvious. Also on a side not remembering that the shampoo you use will help the color tone stay true to what it is meant to be longer, so always use a sulphate free shampoo and don’t oil your hair ( this puts a coating on your hair shaft and increases the temperature of the hair therefore evaporating the internal moisture faster )
Always use a conditioner every time you shampoo and followed by a leave in serum!
