Hair frizzy & fried?

You saw a photo of silky soft hair and thought yes, I want that now your left with hair that looks like frizz and neither straight or curly.

Expectations vs reality are at times different and yes the stylist should have explained it and been more truthful but whatever the issue was it needs to be fixed. Here are some solutions but we recommend visiting a professional salon to determine exactly what is needed.

  • If it’s rebonding it could be over processed which means your hair is on the verge of snapping. Olaplex will prevent it to some extent however removing some length may be only option.
  • If it’s keratin it may have reduced the curl, depending on how curly it was to start with. This may be the success and final result as best you can achieve.
  • You may have had too much color applications on top of each other which has caused the hair structure to be too weak to restructure itself.

Will a ” series of hair spa ” treatments fix this? Easy answer is never

If the structure of the hair is Brocken so badly that hair comes off ( snaps off, not from roots but mid lengths ) then the only two options you have is to either cut it off  or have consistent Olaplex or similar treatments which will rebuild and strengthen it enough to hold it together until it’s cut off.

Sadly some salons push such chemical services based on increasing revenue with little regard for quality of your hair or result and when things go south they will tell you a series of hair spa treatments will fix it. It won’t.

Advice

Before you do any chemical service do your research and remember if the hair has had any color at all and that hasn’t been cut off regardless if it looks natural, it’s still there and needs to be treated with care.

I can see your underwear, move along

We are not talking about VPL ( Visable Panty Line ) rather talking about being transparent in the way you behave, too often the motives take over and it becomes a game of skill to get what you want, using people as the pawns rather than the required skill to actually do a good job! When you think about being transparent with hair, we could turn this into a short film but rather lets just point out why some times we say no to doing certain things and the reason we do this is because its about being the best for you and your hair.

When it comes to your hair, we only have one motivation and that is to create beautiful hair that works both for that split moment in time when you leave the salon but more importantly for the time after you leave the salon! There are some things we wont do like rebonding or straightening as it is too damaging on the hair, there are times when you may want to do a chemical service but we do not believe your hair health will be maintained so we will say no. We do this because we look after your hair’s best interest.

Isn’t it more important to do things right once rather than having something done that requires the next 4-6 months fixing it or repairing it?

Why we do not do Rebonding

Well you have all heard the words poker straight and at times anyone with curly hair especially would love to have straight hair even just for a day, after all grass is greener right?

There was a big move towards making your hair as straight as an arrow which gained momentum in early 2000 and started to slow down a few years later once the novelty wore off and people tried to grow it out or even worst get color at the same time. Now globally, companies who care about hair health like ALFA Parf do not produce such products.

We as a company are only interested in being able to produce quality hair, day in day out in an ethical way. Rebonding is possibly the most aggressive service that you can do to your hair, it breaks down the structure of the hair to the point that it’s completely fragile, resulting in un repairable damage that only a cutting will fix. Sure you have products that will add moisture, make it feel slightly better and some may or may not be able to fix it.

Our view is very simple, why would you do one service that needs another to “fix” it? The movement and texture of your hair, should be respected and worked with by your hairdresser. With effort, skill and know how any head of hair can be tamed in a way that won’t lock you to the salon getting treatment after treatment to fix the condition after your straightening.

Do we do or recommend  Rebonding?

No we don’t it’s too aggressive to the hair.

Is there an alternative?

The alternative is keratin, which adds strength and relaxes the hair leaving it in better condition than before you had it. Make sure it’s fermaldahyde free

Why do some salons push Rebonding still?

Can’t answer that other than its an easy way to sell two services, one is Rebonding, the other is the “hair spa” to fix it.

Why do these companies still make it?

Alfa Parf is one of the only global companies that do not produce it.

Hair has to have some amount of texture and movement in order for it to hold a shape hence we believe in keratin treatments as they allow the hair to still move and be styled as well as maintain the integrity of the hair.

Hair on point, moves!
