If you have curly hair, you need to read this!

We have been asked this a LOT, its kind of one of those things that even after you are told it feels like you are missing something, like we are holding back one deep dark secret! There is a lot of hairstylists we have been told that over work the hair and create work making it look like its effortless ( which has the opposite effect! )

Well the way we feel about the “Diffuser” pictured above being taken for a ride is more than love! Its the one tool that no matter what, can’t be replaced, it is basic and been around for years but brilliant!

Not an expensive tool, fits most hairdryers and once on disperses the heat and air to create a “soft blow” ( Pun intended! ) Using it slowly and gently to dry your hair, lightly scrunching and we mean lightly and ry it till your hair is about 80% dry then STOP!

Now, if you need a little help then bring your hairdryer and diffuser into the salon we will give you a one on one class on how to create beautiful natural texture that doesn’t look like overdone hair trying to be cool.

So before you start building up your “natural” look hair think twice about using product, possibly a serum but thats about it, remember the more product you use the more it will look simply messy and not have that natural texture to it!

Social media vs Reality

Sure combined we have approx 730,000 followers combined between brand and our personal accounts on social media and it’s by no means a large number in today’s reality and increasing move onto social networks for youth in India. There are a lot of users that just aren’t into it and only post every year once maybe twice without feeling a tight chest after not having posted for a week.

What is interesting is that we all post positive images and at times some will go out of the way, even country to make the feed look good. Not many will post an ugly photo and talk about how crap the day was or how depressed they are, it doesn’t sell right!?

We have now positioned ourselves and everyone who comes after us as a base line to “life is perfect”. I have experienced everything from it’s ok for you, your life is perfect or don’t worry it wouldn’t affect you. Now whilst I can easily say it’s not, I am blessed to have the life I have and it hasn’t been easy and continues not to be. Did we work for it, hell yes! Did we plan for it and work on that plan continuously until we got what we wanted, yes and continue to do it! Haven’t reached were we want to yet but can assure you we will!

The impression of always on holidays or only positive things happening is called filtering your outflow on social media and everyone does it! Your more likely to be attracted to a feed of positive and I’m fairly sure your not searching “depressive quotes” to use as your caption, unless your an attention seeker. Now social media is fun and if you want it to be fun treat it like that, used for marketing or showcasing what you do it’s an amazing tool that without a doubt has changed the game forever.

Fun fact for everyone, no ones life is that perfect, it’s what you make of it. Sure life is bloody amazing and I feel blessed every day I wake up, beautiful house, beautiful partner, self employed, great friends and food on the table but let’s be honest. That song after a few times heard is kinda boring.

Life is hard, it will hurt, you do need to work, nothing comes easy, you will loose at some point, nothing is forever and no one cares. Let that sink in for 15 seconds stand up and work your butt off to reach your goals rather than thinking about that private jet you should be buying. Although once we get ours, trust me will be posting pictures daily just for you haters 👍🏻

Electric dreamer & that hair!

Seasons come and go and we all tend to follow clothes trends but very few will flip their hair look as often. Chances are it will be two or three seasons of “I’m growing it” or I like it short and not much in between.

We love our bae Merrylin Boro who within the last 8 months had the following looks,

The Bowl haircut

Shag

Shag with micro bangs

Bob

Micro bob and micro bangs

And now is growing the bangs out! It’s one thing to hold onto something that works for you it’s another not to move with a look and this is what we all strive for.

Evolving your hair look should be lots of small changes so you don’t get bored and people looking at you are constantly looking at something fresh!

It’s about your feed

It’s not about your Instagram, it’s not about Facebook it’s about the food you feed your soul. Recently returning from Bali and seeing new sight, experiencing new culture, food and people it makes you realise how big the world is.

Have to be highlight was our trip to Nusa Penida and our stay at Villa Sungai, both breathtakingly beautiful. If you have not been to Bali it’s a must!

What are you getting up to after your shower that is destroying your hair?

Habits are things you do without thinking or effort its almost like breathing, when we talk about how to treat hair when you wash it, its also once you get out of the shower that will make the difference to how it behaves!

Screen Shot 2018-02-07 at 2.19.16 pm

After washing your hair, then comes the  conditioning and this is to be done from the ends to the roots or you may be making your scalp oily, remember its the hair that you want to condition not the scalp! Using a wide tooth comb, comb it through with the conditioner in and then rinse it well!

Once your out of the shower a lot of you ( or so we are told ) flip upside down, wrap a towel around and go have chai, watch TV, read the paper etc etc then rip the towel off and give it a good shake?!

If thats you and you wonder at any point why your hair is a frizzy mess, please read the above paragraph again slowly.

Putting your hair upside down in a towel is cuter productive and will cause undue friction on the hair, then the shake will make sure it goes frizzy by the time its dry!

Pat your hair with the towel, gently, then apply a leave in serum and do NOTHING else unless you are going to blow dry it, don’t shake it, treat it gently and place it don’t flick it!

How to evolve your look, one month into 2018

In life at times things get a little let’s just say blah, doesn’t matter if we are talking about work or relationships we have to make an effort to keep ourselves interested and interesting. With our hair we tend to get busy and forget to evolve our look from year to year let alone season to season and it takes effort and planning to do it.

Nothing like the first month of the year to get ourselves into a new chapter and change our look, it not only keeps you looking on point but keeps life interesting.

Mauritius is the Hottest destination only 6 hours from Delhi

So we went away for our Christmas break and was really last minute, we needed sunshine and blue skies and had heard about Mauritius from friends so thought why not! Booked only the week before Christmas, we were set and only a 6.5 hour flight direct from Delhi on Air Mauritius we were there!

Coming from Australia, the beaches are kind of good and the surrounding places people typically go on holidays are Bali, Fiji, Vanuatu and Cook Islands and if you just open a new tab and search any of these you will see the beaches are awesome. Now that being said Mauritius is different, sure the beaches are endless white sand and the water on almost every beach is crystal clear, paradise! But its different in the sense it has sense of life other than a beach holiday destination.

We hired a car, which was really easy, although a little challenging as it was Christmas but finally got one. and spent 8 days exploring the island. Easy to navigate around and everything was accessible.

Now not a New Years resolution type people but must say we both had a really peaceful time reflecting on what has been and what goals we will strive for in 2018.

Choosing a salon is like “trick or treat”

When deciding where to get your hair done, there is so much noise about who is the best, who has a “deal” bla bla bla it’s hard to know who to trust and is almost like heading out trick or treating on Halloween 🎃

So we decided to come back home and skip it, luckily for us we had some chocolate in the fridge!

Don’t be a Joker and get in and see us before doing anything.

Delhi’s cool kids

We recently were shooting this editorial for Grazia India, with the cool kids of Delhi, the ones that are shaping the future who all have a unique style that sets them apart.

Not a lot to be done with the hair because they all look so cool but we did our bit and watched poolside while they casually hung out in front of the camera.

How Hairdressers will get you selfie ready

In a world where everyone needs to be insta-ready, phone manufacturers selling phones just because of their selfie mode is better than others it makes sense that your hair gets it’s A game on and is photo ready 24/7.

Before you download every photo filter app let’s get a few basics on for your hair to get you channelling Pro vibes.

Chiara Ferragni via Instagram

1. Still stuck on “too placed” hair? It sends uptight vibes and looks posed. Let it be a little free, of course if it looks like you have just been shagged in the back of a car then give it a little lick and pat down.

2. Color plays a big part of the photo, if your hair is dark then make sure there is ample light hitting it ( preferably filtered light ). If the light is coming from behind a dark Color can throw off red or gold and look a little off.

3. Has to be said, having a feed full of side comb-over style flips may give the impression that your hair is either thin on the top or you just don’t know what to do with it.

4. No one wears the same clothes month after month or year after year ( well we all have our favourite pieces that we just do but those are exceptions) your hair should evolve and change even if it’s a slight change.

5. Try playing around with braids and styling products before you get your phone out and try something different, who knows you just may like it.

6. Speak to your hairstylist & get a session on options for your length on styling.  Most haircuts can be worn several ways with very little effort.

7. Keep it in top condition and this doesn’t mean weekly visits for ” hair spa’s” this means a constructive dialogue with your hairstylist on Maintainence and condition. At times it can be just adding one product to your routine.

8. Try it completely natural, it’s a fact that hair when cut well, will sit well and move beautifully. There is something carelessly perfect about letting it be free!

9. Have fun, try out some accessories. It could be hair clips, scarves, embellished headbands, coloured bands & elastics add a fun element to your look.

10. As basic as it sounds if you’re like most people your camera lens may be dusty or have finger prints on it so make sure it’s clean before you start clicking away!

Just like styling there are rules but they need to be broken to know what feels right when it comes to your own photos. Make sure it’s fun and not forced. Having an in-depth discussion with your hairstylist with your expectations on what you want your hair to do will get you on the right track.
