When you have searched and searched finally you found the salon, perfectly scripted quotes on Facebook, the staff were so confident it was scary. You make an appointment and explain what you want, your perfect color. The hairstylist keeps saying relax I got this! Then……..
It’s Monday morning you’re back at work searching for help hoping no one in the office will notice!
We fix overconfident hair and we won’t tell you to relax, we will tell you to keep your mouth shut!
If you are not familiar with road trips all we can say is sorry, possibly the most affordable fun anyone can have either solo or with your friends. After all travelling at 100km/hr your mates can not escape!
But you will want photo’s to remember it right so what about your hair? Last thing anyone wants to look back and think you looked homeless. Here is a list of things you must take on your next road trip!
Dry shampoo! Who knows where your staying or what the water or weather is like so best to carry a bottle of this to keep you looking fresh!
Sea salt spray, gives you a little texture and helps freshen your look up, just don’t go crazy with it.
Hair perfume! Yes it’s a real product by Label M. You may be sitting around a fire at night and end up smelling like char grilled wood, this will make your hair smell fresh AF
Elastic hair tie’s yes plural and always keep one extra in the car on the rear vision mirror those things tend to walk on there own!
If you thought the only choice for a hair tattoo was a pulse line at the side of your head or a pyramid at the back of your head, you have been living under a rock and possibly need to upgrade your 3G connection.
Sure it’s not for everyone but if it is your thing, or at least thought about it maybe it’s time to have some fun.
It lasts about 2 weeks or until it grows out, if the surface length is short then it disappears faster. The possibilities are endless and you can add color to it to create more drama or wow appeal!
Yes we do it, it’s not excessively expensive however depends on design so best to drop in and have a chat about it.
You grew up thinking you had black hair, everyone told you it’s black, it looks black, chances are it’s not.
When your colouring your hair to appear natural going with the color you were when you were 5,10 or even 15 is wrong. As we get older our hair changes color so whilst you may have been dark brown at 10 your 35 with some white hairs chances are it’s brown!
If you’re colouring your hair to cover the grey here are a few things to help get the best out of the time and longevity of the process.
Always go 1/2 to 1 shade lighter than your natural color
Add variation, a few highlights gives variation and therefore breaks up regrowth, giving you longer between colors.
Don’t color the ends, ever! The ends should be lighter than the roots.
Use a sulfate free shampoo and always conditioner.
Try to add a variation each visit, shade change or add some fun to eliminate boredom.
If you can manage a few of the above, you’re chances of having a color people comment on in a good way are far greater!
Gone are the days of the square or rounded hairline that looks like it was drawn on with a ruler. Hello to the 40’s hair that is rocking men’s hairstyles now!
Yes it’s true some guys have a hairline that extends past there shoulders half way down there back and let’s just admit seeing that poke out of your shirt is hardly cool or sexy.
A tapered hairline extends the life of your cut but up to 7-10 days keeping you look on point longer. It is tapering the skin into your hair, making it a seem less blend that looks clean, sorted and on trend. To make it even better, the area your grey may be showing, is cut short so it means you won’t see it for longer!
If you haven’t tried it, we seriously don’t know what you have been doing!
With a large shift globally of us all choosing more natural food, less processed and more organic and ethically produced produce it only makes sense at some point we question our hair choices. So many myths, blogs, advice and DIY information out there that almost always contradicts itself.
Here is my tips for things you can stop, start or continue depending on what your currently doing.
1. Shampoo choice – depending on the state of your hair, if you have color, damage, fine, thick etc etc but a sulfate free shampoo or one that is low in sulfate like “organic” by Label M is ideal. Will cleanse gently but not strip color or moisture. Once a week using a deep cleansing shampoo to remove any pollution or impurities is a must also. Keeping in mind when you shampoo you must condition every time ( just your hair ) shampoo daily or very least alternate days.
2. Rebonding is in my opinion one of the most aggressive things you can do to your hair and creates a nightmare long term for both styling as well as Maintainence. Alternative is Keratin ( fermaldehyde free) we use Global Keratin.
3. Regular trims, yes 6-8 weeks and if the thought scares you is probly to do with the scissor happy hairdresser you go to so change. Removing and split ends is essential for healthy looking & behaving hair.
4. The most over used word in Asia is HAIR SPA peeps understand majority are beautifully packaged conditioners. You need protein and moisture and treatment will do that so repairing damage is part of the purpose and a lot simply can’t do that. We use ALFA Parf linseed treatment and Olaplex.
5. Styling, a lot of hairstylist burn, pull when styling your hair and this if done weekly will create damage that only scissors can remove. A blow dry should never really be felt let alone be painful.
If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you already have. Hair you love starts with a few choices by you.
With the entire world occupied 24 hours a day between looking after people in the real world to attracting people in the on line world, be it for personal or business purposes we all have less and less time for the things we used to have ample time for just a few years ago so it’s no wonder why trends are changing. In order for us to adapt to the world there is always small changes that happen over time so we can survive, sadly some of us at times struggle with change and try and hold on to what we did years ago in the hope that nothing in our world will change.
Well no matter what we do its changing and there is nothing you can do to stop it, embrace it because change is always good no matter how scared you are you have no choice but to ride it as a positive!
With hair trends the move towards more natural and free hair started a few years ago and is now gaining momentum here in India with more and more people looking for ways to break free from getting their same blow out every few days, here is a few tricks to help get a more natural look without much effort.
Comb your hair with a wide tooth comb whilst in the shower with conditioner in it, the conditioner acts as a lubricant and will prevent friction on the hair
Once out of the shower, only pat do not shake- remember the more gentle you are on the hair the less aggravation on the hair so the less frizz
Using a leave in conditioner, serum, moisture crème is all a good idea unless you have super fine hair, but remember lightly and not on the roots
Sea Salt ( Label M is my go to for all texture styling ) should be used the moment you get out of the shower depending on length 4-6 pumps on roots to mid lengths
DONT OVER TOUCH IT – Sometime we get a little over anxious and want to touch it too much, do not play with it, let it be and do not run your fingers through it, this will create frizz
Give these tips a try and I am sure your hair will be looking more relevant and cool
It’s not a new request to get asked for DIY instructions, just like chefs get asked for the recipe it’s never going to be the same. Well for me anyway doesn’t help even with YouTube, maybe get you closer to getting the end result but there is always hidden issues.
After training for 4 years to become a qualified hairstylist you can never put that amount of info on the back of a box no matter how small the font.
On Saturday I was talking to a room full of brides to be for Wedding Suttra in there master class, after I felt like I should share with everyone what it is that makes healthy hair or wedding ready hair depending on if your planning a wedding or just want to know what you need to do for healthy hair.
A good hair care regime, this is a hair care plan. A shampoo & conditioner that suits your hair & scalp in your current situation, be it your hair may be dry, colored or damaged etc etc
When you want to achieve anything it cant be done overnight, you need to plan for it, good hair is no different. Trim your hair every 6-8 weeks without fail, this will remove the ends that will be damaged and let you either keep it that length or grow it longer.
Rebonding is not something I encourage in fact we don’t do it at any of our Salons for the following reasons. It’s incredibly dehydrating on the hair, incredibly damaging, gives a completely un natural result and limits your styling for months on end and many more.
Whats the best shampoo to use? I was asked this by almost everyone and I always give the same answer so here it is…. Depending on your hair, the problems your experiencing and the desired result it varies from person to person. Just because of big budget ad’s or famous endoursements does NOT mean it is the best in fact it rarely does. My product of choice is Alfa Parf and Label M.
Blow drying your hair, well this one is the biggest killer of hair happiness of them all. Anyone had a blow dry at almost any salon will know that a lot of stylists will BURN your hair into place rather than dry your hair and set it into place. Hair should not smoke, it’s not normal, if your stylist is making it smoke leave the salon and come see us J
Global color vs highlights or balliage. Why global color is not cool is really simple, your hair naturally always have variation be it from stand to strand as well as from roots to ends, there will always be a variation, this makes it look natural. When you put one color from roots to ends on every strand it looks completly artificial and fake. You can achieve a better result but in a more natural way with a few changes, add a color thats one shade lighter and using the freehand painting effect it will look expensive and natural whilst covering grey.
All in all if your serious about your looks then your hair needs to step it up and you have to put time and energy into it, you cant spend 1 dollar and 10 minutes on your hair and expect it to look like a million bucks it just doesn’t work that way. Investigate, plan and finish your look with the one element that is with you every single day!
Prior Preperation and a little investigation will always get better results than trying to fix anything in the last few minutes.
We all love the idea of walking out looking like a cover page model, but let’s be honest, reality bites, especially when you’re fighting this heat with your frizzy hair. We can dream about the perfect bombshell blow out, like Gigi Hadid for being on point every time she steps out, but for days you can’t make it, you can try the prefect artfully dishevelled look, you don’t always have to spend hours to look gorgeous, you can fix it in seconds!
Even if your hair is moody as hell, fret not, we can some easy styles for you to tame at mane! If you are one of those chicks who are identified with her flyaway’s and frizz then you’re on the right track. Maybe, this season messy hair is making a strong case. Who said anything about being lazy, I am rooting for the cool chicks that look effortlessly stylish. Lol.
Products to try:
Leave in moisturiser
A light serum
When it’s hot and humid, you need some low maintenance tricks up for sleeves for SOS situations, a hairstyle that works best with your natural texture. Here are some cool looks to try this season for an easy fix, keep your boho spirits alive!
Your hair looks great for five minutes, and then it goes back to POOF! All you girls with curly hair must be going, story of my life. If you allowed a naturally curly hair chick to rant about her hair problems, their terror stories would probably go longer than the movie Gladiator. You can’t really blame them, it can be be quite a challenge. Especially, when your hair screams the climate report and people can figure of the level of humidity by the size of hair.
Fret not, as frizzy as it can be, people have learnt to embrace their natural curls instead of frying them with hot irons or smoothing them with zillions products. In some cases, the obsession of trying to manage your curls can end up damaging your hair more than doing anything good.
There’s nothing fiercer than curly hair. Some of our favourite celebrities like Lorde, Serayah, Perrie Edwards and Lupita proudly flaunt their born-with-it bouncy hair, and we couldn’t have loved it in any other way. However, it can be a LOVE-HATE relationship, as many curly hair girls don’t feel confident in rocking their natural ‘dos. But with the help of the good stylist, the right cut and easy tricks it is very much achievable to slay it with your natural hair.
Get a diffuser, air drying can become your new BFF, as it is less damaging than a blow dry and much better than waiting hours and hours for your hair to dry. You will find that when you don’t diffuse your curls your hair looks limp and flat, but when you start this tiny habit you will have much more volume.
Repeat after me, DEEP CONDITIONING is the way to go, it can help to control frizz, and reduce breakage and split ends. Your list of hair products should always have; 1. Live in conditioner and cream 2. Hair serums, double check your list every time if you don’t want look like a stranded sheep. Lol Honestly though, there is nothing hotter than a girl who looks confident in her natural curls, time to ditch your flat iron and embrace your natural hair.
Before you scratch your head thinking what the hell am I talking about, I will save you from all the trauma of the guessing game, we are talking about those dreadful days when your cousin TOM has come to visit (time of the month). Not that this phase is less than a short horror movie, were you’re not only bleeding your guts, but also going through the worst stages of mood swings (Scene 1 – you can’t recall the reasons that makes you mad enough to kill someone to Scene 2 – when you burst out loud crying for the silliest reasons). We all have a fair share of the horrifying experiences, but what we all tend to ignore or maybe have not researched that much, is how much it affects our hair.
Cramping pain was not enough; that now you also have to go through the monster zit phase with your hair looking like you just got hit by a bus (Perfect tragedy). Don’t sulk, as we have a little info that might guide you through your and help you maintain healthy hair. Let’s surf through the stages.
Just before you start looking for the hot water bottle, you’re levels of progesterone and testosterone increases which leads to an increase in oil production of skin glands. Which pretty much explains why some of us look like we poured a bottle of oil on our scalp and our face, the best way to deal with this sticky situation is to use dry shampoo, and have frequent showers. The plus side, this is the best time to dye your hair according to experts, as having slightly oilier hair actually helps to protect the delicate skin of your scalp from the chemicals as they sit on your hair.
During the time when Tom’s visiting, the ideal way to get through it is by stuffing your face with chocolate ice cream, and taking endless hot showers, Lol. On a serious note, when it comes to your hair you’ll notice that your scalp will become particularly sensitive, which means you should avoid any treatment that can cause you further discomfort, e.g. when you are getting hair extensions, or you decide to go green, pink or fiery red (Ideal colour for your mood), or do chemical straightening.
After the leek week you’ll thank god for the end of all the drama and excess oil production. Your hair might feel drier than usual as oil production of skin glands will reduce. If your hair is normally dry, you may need to condition it more often to keep them healthy. Even if we all have different types of hair, it’s still the best time of the month to do deep-conditioning.
Overall, just pamper yourself and your hair, and we all have Netflix to fix the rest!
No matter how foolish it sounds, everyone has tried weird home remedies hoping that it will make their hair long, silky, thicker, and help to reduce hair fall. Honestly, we all need to stop picking things from our kitchen garden, fridge and the kitchen cupboards and stuffing it on our hair. Not only it is “disgusting” to be dunking your head with egg, fatty milk, honey, curd, etc etc, it’s ineffective. I don’t know if desperation has even let someone of you to put ‘cow shit’ on your head, and everyone avoids you for a week, let me be frank it’s NOT GOING TO WORK. Get over these MYTHS, and stop putting yourself through the torture.
If you’re squeezing orange juice right now as we speak, then maybe it would be much more beneficial if you drank it than use it as part of your hair care regime! Keeping a healthy diet with proper amount of exercise is much better use of time then fussing over natural external remedies. Get rid of your medieval ways of making herbal pastes, instead start by breaking free from the myths.
Regular trim makes your hair go longer – MYTH
Hair grows from roots, not the ends so obviously it won’t help your hair to grow longer, what it will do however is help you keep your hair healthy without split ends, if split ends appear and you are trimming it regularly then they will be removed.
One of my favourites is the beer myth, I don’t know what people think before washing their hair with beer, the only excuse to it should be when you’re shit drunk, and have spilt it all over your head. MYTH
Cold water is better for your hair – NO IT’S NOT
In fact, cold water rinses may not efficiently rinse products out your hair as well as warm water, and it doesn’t make your hair shiny and silky. Rinsing your hair with hot water helps to open up your cuticles and pores, which is good while shampooing or conditioning your hair. Cold water seals your cuticles and pores, so that your hair doesn’t get damaged too easily, and protects the scalp pores from dirt, grease and oil. When it comes to your shampoo, the best advice is to use Paraben (chemical preservatives) & Sulphate free shampoos; as these chemicals cause hair loss and hair thinning because it deteriorates the follicles of the hair, and slows the growth of hair.
I can go on and on about 100 myths but let me just say, it’s the 21st century people!!! No one buys a product without looking it up, then why would you be breaking eggs on your head believing in myths? So let go of your myths and save your time to go out for coffee with your bae.
But if your one of those people getting your regular blow out and feel the dying urge to dictate step by step how to do it, because it is your hair ( which in fact is true ) you know who you are, admit it you’ve done it maybe even doing it as we speak it’s ok 😜
The only reason I bring this up is so you get the change to change your look or possibly love your hair one day. Imagine if you told the chef how to cook every time they cooked food for you, would you ever get anything new? Would he/she give you alternatives or fix a problem you didn’t know how to fix? Chances not because you never gave them the chance. I can’t imagine eating the same food day in dnd day out or wearing my hair ( ok you got me I don’t have any ) but wearing your hair the same way year after year simply because you won’t be open. If you don’t trust the professional to do there job then chances are your either going to the wrong salon or you don’t know your options.
Step outside your comfort zone and get a blow out that if different to your typical look, it washes out!

Your hair screams a lot about who you are as a person and your personality, I know for some woman there husbands have a lot to say when it comes to there hair ( not sure why ) but everyone is different I know from a very young age my father would not dare say do this or do that to my mother because its her hair and even today I can not imagine dictating my preference to my partner but different strokes for different folks. I think that hair is completely individual and has a seasonal influence, even small changes make a huge difference over time and help you evolve the overall look and vibe. I must say the biggest trend right now is undone hair that in fact takes a little getting used to when your styling but once you get the hang of it you wont look like a drowned rat, its all about the right products, the right placement and the right technique.
Baby bangs have also made a come back and can be incredibly sexy on the right face and the right personality, I have seen almost all face shapes with baby bangs and have to say on the right personality it really doesn’t matter to a certain degree. Certainly not a decision you want to take at the drop of a hat if your hair is super long as it will take longer than a few weeks to grow that out but if you have been thinking about it for a while there is no harm in giving it a shot.
