I guess by now you have tried cleaning it only to realise it’s not a hair or is it?
You all wonder what causes hairfall and most of you ( or us I should say ) think at some point in our life that your going bald overnight and there has to be a cure! There are a lot of triggers for increase hair fall and almost all have nothing to do with using a ” Hair Fall” shampoo! In the majority of cases we see it’s internal and has very little to do with outside factors, although outside factors can play a part in hair fall it’s not going to be the main cause typically.
We have seen a big increase in people who have gone on diets like Keto, experience dramatic hair loss due to the body going into shock or dramatic stress in our body causing the hair root to go into a resting stage ( called telogen effluvium ). We have to weigh up the pro’s and con’s when it comes to dramatic dieting. Our bodies can be tricked into thinking it’s in starvation mode and start burning the stored fat you have been trying to get rid of since New Years 2003.
It’s always advisable to gather solid evidence and research anything you plan on doing before relying on an instagram page of success because you will always find something to support whatever you want to find. Before you decide to shock your system into a weight loss frenzy get some good advice from a doctor or qualified nutritionist! It’s always better to have healthy habbits and be consistent rather trying a quick fix, our bodies are a sensitive eco system and need to be respected like it.
Keep in mind it’s interesting to know that you can also experience increase hair fall in the following situations!
- Changing your diet from unhealthy to healthy
- When you relocate, water conditions dramatically have an effect on hair loss. Relax it will settle.
- Less sleep
- Change of seasons
- Drug use
- After surgery or heavy dosage of antibiotics
- Increase of stress levels like death in family, divorce or a relationship breakup
So before doing anything weigh up your choices, maybe a more slow approach to dieting is more healthy than a quick fix. Hair loss for most people is normal 50-100 hairs a day but remember 50-100 long hairs looks like 3,000 so be realistic and understand washing it doesn’t cause hairfall it’s just when you are most likely to see them all collectively together in one place….. the shower drain!
Follow more positive food blogs, instagram and people and adapt healthy choices and attitude. Be happy with your body and most importantly be healthy.
It’s beyond comprehension that some of you think most of our posts have a double meaning, seriously we are not that clever all we are trying to do is help you have better hair.
So we get asked a lot on how often should you shampoo your “hair” and it’s a very basic question with some remembering what their mother or grandmother has told you with little or no base to it other than handed down reality.
You can wash your hair everyday it is perfectly fine to do so, in fact it’s probably a good idea especially in a hot climate like India where the pollution levels are fairly high.
A few things to remember tho
- When you shampoo, always use a conditioner, shampoo opens the cuticle cleanses and conditioner closes the cuticle.
- Using a SLS free shampoo is more gentle on hair and scalp so it won’t strip your color out or dehydrate your scalp.
- If you have an oily scalp you still condition the hair, a co dictionary us not for your scalp.
- Double washing is also ok if it needs it. Don’t apply shampoo to hair that is too wet, remove excess water then apply working from scalp to ends.
Any dirt, pollution or junk that is left on your scalp can and most likely will create a perfect breeding ground for bacteria which can lead to dry scalp, itchy scalp & hair loss.

It’s not uncommon to be freaked out by life and if you watch the news or check out sponsored posts on Facebook you are sure to be concerned about almost everything!
Ask yourself this ladies, how many bald women have you met? Like bald bald? The answer will most likely be none because it’s so rare you have more chances to be hit by a falling satellite than going bald so chill the hell out!
Yes hair falls out and it does daily, yes in different seasons it may fall out more than others. Hormones and medicine can cause increase hair fall and change of water also. But your body adjusts and you will be fine and your hair will be too!
At any given point 90% of your hair is growing and 10% is dying ( but will be replaced) that’s not a new thing, google it!
Every day you will have hair come out, some days more than others! No eating more of this or than or even taking supplements isn’t going to change the way your body is made, eat a healthy diet, use Sulfate free products and shampoo regularly, healthy scalp healthy growth!
Rubbing kitchen scraps, oil, onion pulp, eggs, fish oil etc is only going to give your scalp an infection and make you stink! It’s not going to do anything to your hair growth!
It’s often thought that it needs to be complicated to be believed, could it be as simple as diet and sleep? You think things should be complicated and there are secrets only a specialist knows I guess. Well there are some but the basic foundation of healthy hair and healthy growth is diet.
Like a lot of things, the better quality goes in the better quality comes out, it’s not that hard to understand. If you’re living on junk food and lack 8 hours sleep a day don’t think going to a salon or doctor for any new treatment is going to do anything. It’s not.
You are what you eat!
With every change of season we all experience an increase of hair fall, it’s normal, you can expect 50-150 hairs falling out per day, yes per day!
Now no matter who you are, you are already saying omg I loose so much more than that, chances are you’re not chances are you have never physically sat and counted them nor you ever will! With 90% of the hair on your head in the growing stage and 10% in the resting stage, the 10% will eventually fall out and be replaced with new hair growth.
Now several other factors begore closing this tab and continuing your searches!
- If you wash your hair every 2-3 days the chances of those 50-150 hair being gone are slim the last 2-3 days of loose hair will come loose when you shampoo so chill it’s not more, the hair has simply got stuck there.
- Vitamins and diet, if you eat right and sleep tight there is no need to do anything else. Vitamins if you’re lacking in one area.
- Treatments work? You MAY experience in the vacinity of 1-3% difference but hardly. Remember it’s seasonally excelerated.
Get the facts and don’t be sucked into buying treatments or products that claim can give you a full head of hair, they don’t work!
It’s true, at times life can go through ups and downs, times when everything is exciting and times when you fall asleep brushing your teeth. What is important that you don’t get “bored” with life rather the situation and spend all your energy to get out of that spot. Sure a quick thrill never hurt anyone but if you have seen it before it gets old, it’s the delivery that can change.
So why on earth are we talking about flashers? Well people, we need to make sure we don’t get into a rut with out hair & look. It’s really easy once you have hair that works not to change it but often we go back to what we know vs doing something that is different.
What we need to remember is that people tend not to see your internal changes, often saying “I know you” for the last 10 years yet you have changed so much yet you may look and sound the same. If you look the same, chances are people will see you the same. It’s important to develop your look as well as your personality to make sure life is turning.
Scientists have discovered the cure for loosing our hair and a way to grow a full head of hair. It was last Friday a group of scientists in a small town approximately 15km outside Baldocia in northern Romania found the Gene that has been on the run since the dawn of time.
Exhausted the Gene said to the scientists “it was fun running at first, but to be honest once we saw everyone just shaving there head well it just didn’t seem like people were willing to play anymore” Left a little disgruntled and angry over everyone’s loss in attitude it feels like playing hide and seek with your Auntie who is meant to be looking after you while your mum and dad go out but she is too busy swiping on tinder, said one of the Genes. A murmer and chuckle from the back of the group saying it was encouraging that some people were rubbing fruit, oil and even pulped onions on there head, it was as if they thought this shit would work 😂
Cornered and tired after centuries avoiding discovery the group of small genes with there over blown ego sat panting looking somewhat pale and exhausted.
Once we have more information we will share.
Chances are if your human you have either had a brush like this or known someone who has. You panic like hell and think your going bald faster than Donald Trumps approval rating!
The reality is almost positively the opposite and it’s very rare reality that your loosing that much hair. It’s completely normal to loose 100-150 hairs per day ( we can hear you saying your loosing so much more than that) and if you clean your brush daily you will find it’s within those numbers if you have the time to count them.
The longer your hair, the more it will look like, so 10 hairs at 5cm long will look like less than 10 hairs at 35cm long ( kind of logical but hair loss creates fear factor and logic doesn’t play a part )
Slightly more hair can fall out in the start of summer, change of season and also due to hormones. Can you stop it completely? Easy answer is no, can you stop leaves from falling from the trees? No
Use a detergent free shampoo daily, always use a conditioner always and don’t get stressed and end up thinking home remedies or treatments they don’t work, it’s completely normal to have a certain amount of hair loss. If you think it’s excessive drop in and see us.
You end up picking up what seems like handfuls of hair every time you shampoo your hair? Are you suffering from sudden hair loss? Do you think if this continues you will be bald by mid next week?
Stop acting like a baby, your not going to be bald any time soon let’s help explain the facts based on science and not on trying to rename a treatment or shampoo as “hair loss”. We get asked daily about hair loss and to be honest a lot of salons, product companies etc make a lot ( I mean a LOT ) of money with hair fall specific treatments or products that do didly squat ( nothing ) to your hair.
- You have approx 100,000-150,000 hairs on your head at any given point
- Your normal shedding of hair is approx 100-125 per day
- If you shower every third day then when you wash you will see 300-375 hairs in your hands because each day it’s been falling but stuck in amoungst the other hair.
- Conditioner does NOT make your hair fall out, it closes the cuticle and hence makes the loose hair slip out
- Washing it daily not only won’t make it fall out but WILL help keep your scalp clean
- Hair fall shampoo’s…. use a Sulfate free shampoo good for everyone, color or no color, keratin or no keratin. It’s low in detergent and gentle on scalp.
- Hair loss increases in seasons so whilst it may increase in short term long term it will settle.
- Medicine if your body has a deficiency however 100-125 is normal and no medicine will stop that.
- Water quality can cause hair fall yes, only real solution is washing in filtered water
- Putting any oil on your scalp is a complete waste of time and in fact can increase hair fall by altering the ph level of your scalp. It’s never reccomended and is one of those tales handed down generation after generation.
- Can anything increase hair growth? NO you an try standing in a bucket of water thinking it will help you increase your height, chances are if enough people said it worked you may try it.
There now clean the drain get some Sulfate free products, put the oil in the kitchen and cancel your “specialist” appointment lol
You’ve blocked the drain in the shower and every time you sit to eat food their seems to be hair in it?
Well it’s a common issue and most people still live in the dark about how much is too much and what’s normal when it comes to “hair fall” and a lot of haircare companies simply react to people’s concern and bring out a shampoo for “hair loss” instead of providing information. Here are some facts!
- Loosing 100-150 hairs per day is considered normal ( the longer it is the more it will look like)
- Not washing your hair because you think it’s falling out will make matters worst
- Substituting shampoo with dry shampoo is wrong, it will cause more problems.
- Hair fall is seasonal and hormonal driven. More falls out at the change of season
- Prolonged use of “anti dandruff” shampoo can in fact cause hair fall due to the quantity of harsh chemicals
- Oil rubbed on your scalp will leave residue and add to problems not prevent them
- Using a leave in serum after I condition will help will lunricating hair whilst combing hence less friction & less breakage
- Breakage is not hair fall, you can not destroy your hair with doing chemical services, abuse it with heat and label the breakage as hair fall.
- Diet has a large role to play in hair fall
- Stress has a large roll in hairfall
A little common sense when it comes to hair fall and consulting a doctor if you feel it’s abnormal ( which if your reading this you most likely feel it’s extreme )
Beware as many companies and clinics are cashing in on your insecurities and will happily apply this and that telling you it is what you need.
- A clean scalp
- Condition always
- Balanced diet
- Regular trims
- Don’t over process your hair, chemical burn and breakage is real
Arm yourself with a educated hairstylist that can help you sort out fact from fiction!
Its no surprise that we all are dying in the heat and perspiration is a fact of life, even a short walk to the car can make you wetter than a night out at the strip club!
To make sure your scalp is not wet all day and becoming a bacteria farm you need to make sure your using the right products and in the right way to keep your scalp healthy, healthy scalp means healthy hair growth! Your hair once it is visible is dead keratin, the growth is internal, under your scalp and the only really obvious way you can help your growth is making sure your intake is a healthy balance covering all of your dietary needs. Sure its boring to say a balanced diet and a good amount of sleep and your body will function the way it was designed.
We get asked a lot about hair growth, how to grow your hair faster, thicker, healthier etc etc its really the basics you need to get right in order to have the best hair possible. We have put together a checklist to make it a little easier in the hope that next time you come in we can chat about more random things but if you still need help give us a shout!
What shampoo should I use?
Your shampoo should be decided on what your hair, scalp is doing at that particular time. If its the peak of summer you don’t have colour then its fairly possible you need a good cleansing shampoo, if you do have color then the conditioner should be chosen for the color.
Will washing my hair everyday make my hair fall out?
This is not at all true, in fact not washing your hair enough will have more adverse effect on your hair growth than washing it too often. Good quality products is the key and that doesn’t mean you choose the product that you saw on the side of a bus, it means a little research. Of course we will tell you our products are the best like every salon because if they didn’t believe in what they are selling then there is a real problem. We use Label M and Alfa Parf, both internationally known and respected products, we use and recommend those because we truly believe they are the best, its not about pushing, its about having the right products and tools to make sure your hair looks the way it was intended long after you leave the salon.
Conditioner makes my hair fall out!
Conditioner closes the cuticle layer of your hair, sealing in the moisture and making sure it is smooth and tangles free leaving the hair with shine and looking healthy. When you put conditioner in your hair, actually put it in your hair on the ends and work it upwards towards the scalp, using a wide tooth comb starting at the ends comb it through. When your doing this, the hair will become slippery and you will get some loose hairs coming out ( because now its slippery and loose hair that was already out was previously stuck within the other hair ) This is not hair fall this is normal. Having 150-200 approx a day come out is in the space of “normal” sure it can fluctuate and will increase slightly in summer months as we tend to shed a little more hair but overall this is considered normal.
Conditioner makes my hair flat
Conditioner is for the hair, typically the ends so if your using it properly then chances are you using the wrong one! Every time you shampoo, you must condition your hair, if you open the cuticle you must close it!
Serum makes my scalp oily
Wow, yes i hear this one often, hello serum is for your hair not your scalp! Serum on your ends not the scalp
Hair Care 101
A quick tip to help keep the frizz in check is when you have the conditioner on in the shower, using a wide tooth comb starting at the bottom comb the hair through and get rid of all the tangles. With the conditioner in it acts as a lubricant and reduces tearing of the hair. Don’t brush your hair when its dry unless your a cartoon character called Rapunzel as it damages your hair!
Just because a hair care product company saturates the media does NOT mean it is the best! Do your research
