Love your curls!

Your hair looks great for five minutes, and then it goes back to POOF! All you girls with curly hair must be going, story of my life. If you allowed a naturally curly hair chick to rant about her hair problems, their terror stories would probably go longer than the movie Gladiator. You can’t really blame them, it can be be quite a challenge. Especially, when your hair screams the climate report and people can figure of the level of humidity by the size of hair.

Fret not, as frizzy as it can be, people have learnt to embrace their natural curls instead of frying them with hot irons or smoothing them with zillions products.  In some cases, the obsession of trying to manage your curls can end up damaging your hair more than doing anything good.

There’s nothing fiercer than curly hair. Some of our favourite celebrities like Lorde, Serayah, Perrie Edwards and Lupita proudly flaunt their born-with-it bouncy hair, and we couldn’t have loved it in any other way. However, it can be a LOVE-HATE relationship, as many curly hair girls don’t feel confident in rocking their natural ‘dos. But with the help of the good stylist, the right cut and easy tricks it is very much achievable to slay it with your natural hair.

Get a diffuser, air drying can become your new BFF, as it is less damaging than a blow dry and much better than waiting hours and hours for your hair to dry. You will find that when you don’t diffuse your curls your hair looks limp and flat, but when you start this tiny habit you will have much more volume.

Repeat after me, DEEP CONDITIONING is the way to go, it can help to control frizz, and reduce breakage and split ends. Your list of hair products should always have; 1. Live in conditioner and cream 2.  Hair serums, double check your list every time if you don’t want look like a stranded sheep. Lol Honestly though, there is nothing hotter than a girl who looks confident in her natural curls, time to ditch your flat iron and embrace your natural hair.

’90s Babe

When I talk about the 90s, a rush of nostalgia hits our mind; a decade that was ruled by some of the craziest fashion trends, I can’t pick my favourite, there was too many. Maybe it will be pencilled brows with blonde hair but I’m not locking that in because I have too many favourites. Remember, Courtney Love, Drew Barrymore, Gwen Stefani!

When it comes to the weirdest styles of this decade, I find it very hard to decide between fountain head (AKA the famous coconut tree) and porcupine up do’s (the funkier version of a bird’s nest); I think now when we look back, we all would scream “What the hell were you thinking?” Thank god for no Facebook during that time,  some of us were lucky enough to have missed out on having the evidence on line.

Which will be that one look of the ‘90s that we just can’t get over?   If Winona Ryder’s face just flashed through your mind, I am talking about the iconic babes who slayed pixie cut, and made a cult during the ‘90s. The ’90s were a time for reinvention and experimentation which we all can take a leaf out of and try something new.

They will inspire all of us to go for a chop!

BE A REBEL

From birth we have been feed by one notion of beauty; the fair maiden with long locks, a much more feminine perception which has defined how we see ourselves and others for a long time. It was not long ago when tall, dark girls with manly or strong features were considered unattractive (especially in a place like India, the notions of beauty is still primitive), sometimes I don’t understand this medieval concept of beauty that has been passed down to us, it makes it so easy to stigmatise someone as ugly or beautiful. Thank god, we are not a part of that generation were people do not embrace their individuality and try to be the same as everyone. I believe, there is nothing more powerful than a woman who feels confident and comfortable in expressing herself, and breaks free from these stigmas’s. They help us evolve and change our notions of BEAUTY that we have been stuffed with for ages. I still remember my grandma saying ‘I looked like a boy as a kid’, I won’t be surprised if many of us have such stories to share.

But then we have the rule breakers like, 18 year old model, Katie Moore, whose amazing transformation from ‘the girl next door’ with long blonde hair to blunt bob, copper orange hair did not only change her look but also her career. (WE LOVE this little Punk) This shows how notions of beauty is changing and evolving constantly.

Grimes

Recently, Stella McCartney newest Pop fragrance campaign’s latest face was none other than Madonna’s teenage daughter, Lourde Leon, who is now sporting her new pastel hair for this amazing campaign, one kid who really loves to push it, from grey to pastels. Maybe, that’s what makes us adore Lourde. Before her, we had our Instagram feed exploding with pictures of the multimedia artist and musical powerhouse Grimes, with her Pink punk look, shooting for this new ad campaign. What we love about these young women is – they are not afraid to be who they are; strong-willed, free spirited and independent. Beauty is a constant evolution and you have to love the skin you’re in.

Be a rebel, if you can’t be conventional, than be anti. How you look is how you feel, don’t be scared of expressing yourself. Don’t worry, go pink or green, blue whatever you want to. Chop it off or shave it. Yeah, it might shock your parents or teachers, but honestly, we don’t care.  After all, this generation celebrates the weird and wonderful; it’s always good to be different.

LOB OBSESSION!

We have been washed by many hair trends over the past few years, but, very rarely do you come across a trend that has gone viral, and it’s everywhere. Lob (the long bob) and the bob have gone from the ‘next door girl’ look to one style that was seen all across Golden globes, Oscar and the Grammys.

We love the sexy shorter do Miranda Kerr rocked last month, by far the best feed when it comes to Instagram makeovers. I know we all get bored of the same look day after day. The best thing about summers; it gives you an excuse to go for something shorter and more lived in. I know so many people who would hate to style their long hair every day, plain lazy or someone clueless when it comes to trying different styles and experimenting a little with their looks. Well, maybe the best way to deal with the situation is to go CHOPPY. I know so many of you have been thinking about it for a year and contemplating SHOULD I? SHOULD I NOT? If you’re sick and tired of washing your HAIR FOR HOURS, then maybe it time to chop it off RAPUNZEL, because  you’re not going to get laid by letting your hair down from a tower in this generation.

We all have to admit it; it can be hard as hell to take care of your long locks, especially when you’re fighting DELHI’s pollution, dust, the fricking heat, and have lost half of your hair trying out products from TV ads. Why struggle so hard when you can look 10 times hotter chopped?

Don’t make a nest or a mess of your hair, and go get the LOB. If you are slightly more excited then you have the option of going super short, pull off a Taylor Swift,or a Karlie Kloss (IT’S HOT AS HELL, RIGHT NOW).  It can be one of the most versatile haircuts, as it fits any woman, with any face shape, or style, and if you have straight hair it’s said to be the shit.

You can keep it with or without bangs, blunt or layered, straight, wavy or curly, and style it in 100 different ways.  Who said short hair can’t be styled in many ways, maybe my GRANDMOM.

A LOB can give you a sense of confidence, a stronger look where you will feel more in control. Haircuts have a major impact on how you feel from inside as well as outside, go for this sexy, chic hair style —and refreshingly easy to wear.
