Today it’s 2018 and most people are connected to the world and know what’s right and what’s wrong but sadly there are still a few that think being a boss means being rude, obnoxious and authoritarian.
They dictate to staff what to do, give them literally no room to think or do what they are there to do and wonder why they have to sit in the office 7 days a week.
I have seen the hairdressing Industry grow rapidly over the last 10 years in India and have witnessed first hand the lack of understanding of what it is that a salon is meant to be providing.
It’s a people’s business and you have to ask yourself if you can’t get it right with the people you spend the majority of the day with, chances are it’s not going to be right with the people that come in and pay.
Look at it like this, imagine just moments before the doctor operates on you, you literally go crazy at him, insult him, his family and everyone he has ever spoken too. Do you really think that this is going to put him in the right mood to be his best?
The reality is, the last thing he will be wanting to do is the operation!
Yet daily owners, managers have created this ” me & them” attitude where the staff come to work because they are threatened and do not feel like they have an option. Free speech to clients and fellow staff is so far fetched it isn’t an option. Sad to think people think they can treat people like this but they do and in a lot of situations end up doing the most stupid things simply because they are told they have too, so they do it regardless of knowing its wrong for the client.
I do get asked a bit to do things I don’t think need doing ( a color, a service or cut whatever ) and when I say no it’s not needed the reaction is always the same, utter shock and disbelief. I feel that doesn’t matter if it’s a blog, a post, a discussion on social media or staff, it’s the same tone, the same message and the same level of respect.
So when I say please don’t come back, it’s because your rude, if I’m respectful of the people I work with, everyone needs to be!
Earlier this month our phones went down on and off for a few days, not sure why but if you walk around with your head in your phone maybe you wouldn’t see the fact that there is 798 connections for your house when it only requires one! Well finally its all sorted. We don’t have an alternative mobile like a lot of businesses but what we do have is an awesome social media team which will reply as soon as physically possible.
Now that doesn’t mean if you are trying to get blow out booking made at 3am on your way back from the club, chances are no one will answer or if they do, be aware the sarcasm may fly!
Either way make sure you are following us on social media and feel free to use any of them to reach out!
It’s come to our attention that in some parts of the world, winter means rain, snow and a lot of moisture but here in India it means cold and dry! You should be watering your plants daily as well as moisturising your hair more often!
How do you do that we hear you asking?
Well it’s fairly easy;
Firstly regular trims regardless of the length or your goal length the ends need to be removed every 6-8 weeks.
Always use a conditioner, shampoo opens the cuticle, condition closes so the internal structure of your hair will stay intact.
Do NOT use oil, yes you thought oil was your go too but it costs the hair, creates barrier that magnifies heat so in fact does the opposite to what you think. Just because it’s what was told to you doesn’t make it fact.
Treatments are good if it’s actually a repairing moisture treatment. Our Linseed treatment has beeswax and linseed oil extract which packs moisture into the hair. Can do this every 6 weeks but rarely more is needed.
Don’t be sucked into doing “hair spa” because often they are just a conditioner and a little massage which is not going to do squat.
It’s no secret that we say what we feel, in fact sometimes it a little too much but better to be an open book rather than an infomercial trying to sell something that’s a hit and miss we think!
So that being said here we go, if you think that we are too expensive, we should do nails, you want your waxing done while your color is on, you want to be called Mam and not Sharon, you think you can give us a blow by blow how to do your hair, eat your paneer tikka while your getting your puffy blow out, think you can buy one get one free or try waiting till 7pm thinking we are a bar and suddenly it’s “happy hour” then please scroll back up and take a look at the image again.
If you want real cool hair then your more than welcome 🙏🏻
Once you have decided the technique of balayage you are left with the color and the amount to choose from. It can end up being either too much ( in a lot of cases ) or you may think not enough.
The idea of balayage in itself is subtle and given the fact that it isn’t done at the roots it is meant to be a more natural approach to colouring. Do you go ash, can it go ash, should you still be a warm blonde. All these questions can be talked about when you are consulting the stylist depending on your skin tone and the overall look you had in mind.
Yes it’s cool and if it is done the right way can last months and months before you need to do it again.
After almost 10 years in India I am still in awe of its diversity and energy, as much as the simple things are draining at times the people and the culture is the reason I am still here!
I’m serious about a few things and after Diwali pollution always gets bad so we spent a few days at Neemrana Fort, drove myself ( under 2 hours) and we spent the first day taking random photos of the blue sky 🤭.
Everyone thinks we travel a lot, maybe to some we do but this type of quick road trips have to be our favourite especially Neemrana which always make you feel like you are the only person there and the regional food is yum!
Back in Delhi and although the sky is blue today it has been bad. I get asked a lot how to protect your hair when it’s so bad, wash it daily! Your hair and scalp will attract the dust but the pollution and the last thing you should be doing is let it sit there any longer than you should. If you are outside, cover it up and always use a conditioner ( which closes the cuticle ).
So spend a few nights throughout these cloudy times exploring their properties and get the detox you need!
Seriously the thought of doing it for you everyday isn’t putting a smile on our face so can’t imagine it would you!
But the time wasted getting a blow out 2-3 times a week is kind of crazy so we will teach you how to do it yourself. Basically we only want to see you when your desperate, think of us as your last choice hair booty 😂
Funny how a lot of companies pay a lot of money to find information out, get the right data etc. seriously guys you have no idea the things we either get told or hear! Like would make you cringe, it’s no wonder why I’m bald!
We don’t kiss and tell so relax it’s not going in our status but we are looking for a good therapist 😛
They say visiting the salon is like a therapy session, it should be. Come see us, unload it’s a safe place.
Chances are, (unless you are living under a rock) you know what SLS or Sodium Laureth Sulfate is, if you don’t in lame terms it’s detergent. A lot of shampoo’s have it, washing detergent has it along with floor cleaner, car degreaser and the list goes on.
It creates the mass of bubbles, it also can remove the expensive color quicker than you expect!
While a Sulfate free shampoo will still bubble and clean it uses natural surfactants to cleanse that is more mild on hair and skin and will maintain your color and condition of hair and skin.
Flip the bottle over and read the ingredients to know more!
If you have ever been out on the social circuit ( yeah it’s a circuit ) in delhi you would have seen it worn by a few very well spoken ladies, in fact maybe your friends Auntie, or mine who knows! The reality to get a good Balayage is not hard but you you continually do it, it ends up looking like a Solid mass of gold!
Now unless you are one of those style freaks that likes to match your shoes with your bag and trying to get the hair in the same family of tone ( please don’t ) you need help!
Neither of these photos have filters or have been adjusted in any way btw
A lot of the time the problem is the hairstylist in fact did what you asked for, rather than saying no. Sometimes when your hair is dark and you all want ash blonde, it’s more complex than a simple Balayage so needs a firmer understanding of color, lightening and the underlying tones that your hair will throw off as it gets lighter.
What we did here is reverse Balayage ( darker color ) then a smokey ask toner over it to blend it. We think it looks great!
If you have gone too far and it’s looking like trash or need help, pls call us on 01141010011
One sure way not to get the color of your dreams is to get on the phone and call every salon asking for a deal! In fact it’s the one sure way not to get it!
Creating the color rarely involves pulling a tube off the shelf and putting it in a bowl and applying it on your hair. There is more to colouring hair that that. Everyone’s hair reacts differently and depends on what your hair has in it at the time ( pre color, oil treatments, prior color history, condition, underlying color etc etc ).
Now no one walks into a store and randomly picks something off the shelf without asking the price unless it’s the dollar store so we get it. If you would like a certain color the best thing to do is drop in and speak to us and see how much and in fact if it’s possible because sometimes going from black to ash white in under an hour is not possible and not so cheap!
