A lot of salons choose to do a little this and that, jack of all trades ( master of none ) with the goal to try and be your “one stop shop” 😂 and only delivering 20% of everything vs being 100% of one thing. Now whilst we get it, a lot of you have expectations that we should be doing hair, nails, your makeup, picking up your groceries, collecting your children, taking them to the toilet, washing their bums, ordering your lunch and the list goes on. But guess what we don’t, we won’t and we will not hesitate to let your little Johnny poop his pants ( nah only kidding but you get the point )
If you want anything not hair related, your in the wrong house, if you want awesome hair, take a seat Cheryl and let’s get started!
We have all seen it on someone, you may call it gold, you may call it red but regardless what you call it unless its intentional it can look ugly!
Now every hair on the planet as well as your head has undertone color and without going into a technical explanation lets just understand the basics, if you lighten your hair or put your hair through a chemical process, chances are at some point the cuticle has been opened. By opening the cuticle you are allowing the sun and environment to lighten your hair further and the hair color will change, bringing out the under tone color. We see a lot of people that color their hair dark and go out in the sun, after a few weeks its looking gold or red, this is because the hair is lightening and your undertone is showing through.
Do you color it again to cover it, is that the answer?
Not always needed but depends on case to case to be honest, the best way is prevention. When colouring your hair it needs to be done knowing your hair texture and condition and if fading is an issue then color concentrates can be used so when it fades it is not so obvious. Also on a side not remembering that the shampoo you use will help the color tone stay true to what it is meant to be longer, so always use a sulphate free shampoo and don’t oil your hair ( this puts a coating on your hair shaft and increases the temperature of the hair therefore evaporating the internal moisture faster )
Always use a conditioner every time you shampoo and followed by a leave in serum!
It’s 2018, you work in almost any field someone you work with, a boss, a customer or a business associate has looked you up on line and seen all your photos, it’s a given!
Now whilst the easiest way to deal with it would be making your profile private because after all your personal life is your own right? Well kind of not, if your in media, PR, fashion, beauty, hair, lifestyle, travel, tours, renovations, public speaking, fitness etc etc you get our point.
Consumer shops very different now and demand an insight into you and what your selling, not only in the item or service but your brand Dna and what your about! Your not selling anything? I honestly doubt that, even if you only rely on a research grant every 5th year chances are someone will be checking!
Setting your profile on private because you think people will follow you is not only wrong but incredibly naive. The choice people have is global so you are being compared to the best in the world not in your street, market or village!
To touch on people who have been busy doing nothing, literally and have thousand of followers for absolutely no apparent reason is kind of funny and I’m sure by now we all can see through it but annoying AF that these lazy people that feel that “faking it till you make it” means literally being full of shit!
Advertise, promote but for goodness sake don’t think eating on your bed watching back to back Netflix shows is a skill unless your blogging about it.
It’s no secret that guys loose their hair typically, not always but it’s in our DNA just like the sun will rise and fall every day there is limits to how you can control it. What you can do is be aware of what haircuts will work best so you don’t end up looking older than you are!
The interesting thing is that the amount of hair you have has no link to your manhood so stop obsessing over it that’s the first thing. A woman would prefer a guy who is respectful, loves life, looks after her and is motivated more than she will look for a guy that has a good amount of hair! Yep I know who would have thought right lol.
Now what hairstyles
The biggest mistake is most will leave it longer on the top as it thins out because they are scared that you can see through it. Big mistake as this typically makes it look thinner. Obviously there is a limit to how short is too short and how long is too long and that differs from person to person.
The more you try to hide it thinning the more it will stand out. If you try and hide something from someone, put it right in front of that person and it’s not as obvious and most likely won’t see it. Hide behind a curtain and your almost sure to be seen.
At the end of the day remember the density of the top may be thinning so best to not have a big variation between the density of the top vs the sides. If the top is 50% less than it was then the sides are 50% thicker looking so the top will stand out. Leaving it longer will make the top look thinner.
I caught up with Rishi the local barber not far from our salon and just talk about life. At 52 he works 6 days and loves being his own boss, his father, grandfather were barbers and shifted to Delhi 30 years ago and has been in the same spot since. A super smiley happy guy who like all hairdressers loves to talk! He has 3 kids and all in college now and doesn’t want them to continue the tradition, wants them to have a better life. Has put them through school and owns his own house & at 30rp or US .45 per haircut This guy is awesome!
Now I don’t know what or how but we need to do something to make life better for him and all the roadside barbers to make their life better.
Who doesn’t want to save money and have perfect hair right?
Is here is the thing, a lot of people we find are doing treatments when in fact they don’t need to do them, we decided to tell you all about it so you can save some cash.
Biggest one is “Global color” if your colouring then your hair should be slightly lighter on the ends and very rarely needs the color taken all the way through. It is not needed, causes more damage and waste of money.
Weekly “hair Spa’s” well sorry to say your better off trimming your hair, removes the split ends and should be done every 6 weeks. If your growing it cut less than an inch and it will still get longer, if you leave it then you will need to cut more off and won’t be healthy. Get the right cut, from the right salon and your blow drys are possibly not needed Saving you money there too.
Rebonding, smoothening etc well we don’t do these because we think they not only are a waste of money and ruin your hair, it makes you need hair spa treatments weekly because it’s that damaged. Work out a way to manage it, do a keratin treatment possibly.
With the extra money you have now, go buy something fun!
From tine to time we get bored with things, it’s life and we all go through it could be your hair, work, your wardrobe, routine etc etc. when you think about color you are dying for something rich, juicy and expensive looking then it’s time to come in and have a consultation with us.
It’s one thing to want “brown” it’s another thing to want a rich caramel brown with light sun kissed baby lights.
The thing is we believe color is individual so we don’t fling out a color chart and ask you to choose, we talk to you and get you to describe it, we talk then show you some options.
I remember when life was possible, anything you dreamed of was possible, super hero’s could be real and there was nothing that you couldn’t do, it was a safe place, a place of possibilities and fun.
What has recently happened here is beyond disgusting, it’s to the point of incomprehensible. How can a human being rape and murder anyone let alone a group of humans. How are we still getting up and going to work, worried about what hashtags to use on social media. How is it the country hasn’t come to a stop when this can happen? How can we put this down to anything, how does common decency and humanity need to be taught?
For me I feel an utter depth of disgust and dispear for us all if this can happen and it’s not uncommon it’s almost ” again” rather than a one of incident ( once is once too many ).
If this doesn’t make you feel your stomach is rotten then it’s fairly possible you haven’t stopped and absorbed it. It’s not religious, it’s not about where you are from, which side of the river you were born or what your family do for a job. I can’t even say it’s about just respect, or being a decent human it goes far beyond that!
Disgusted to be living in a time when humanity has taken such a dark path. When will we all start focusing on how to be a better human being, when?
Yes it’s a sexy back, I know right but that’s not got nothing to do with what we want to talk about now, save that for another day. Dry cutting what is it, why do it and how is it done?
You may have seen someone cutting hair dry, you may have opted for not getting your hair washed and go straight for a cut but it’s more than likely not a dry cut so what is it?
We caught up with Rod the first to introduce “Dry Cutting technique” to India and asked him a few questions.
What is it?
You need to forget everything you thought you knew about getting your haircut and absorb the following. Getting your hair cut wet then hoping it sits perfect when it’s dry is the same as stitching a suit when the wool is wet, would be stupid right?
Imagine cutting the cloth wet and thinking you know how it’s going to sit dry, stitched and pressed….. it’s going to be hot and miss!
Partly cutting when the hair is wet is kind of more practical but the movement and intent of movement is created when the hair is dry, it’s about having the hair fall in its natural state and being able to manoeuvre and predict the flow to either encourage a certain shape or disrupt it is ART. Want more fullness, hair to kick out a certain way, more curl, less curl, flatter hair, more texture or just wash and go hair then that’s something only using this art technique can achieve.
Will you still need to blow dry it?
Some people think you can cut hair so it stands on its end, moves a certain way stays flat or full for days and will require no work or effort from you at all. It’s not that way at all, will it help ….100% it creates the framework for a wash and go hairstyle but if you want to be able to look like it’s Red Carpet ready hair then your expectations are a little off. It’s creating the right framework to support, encourage and direct the flow of movement for your hair style, texture and shape.
Ok we got it now, so basically it’s the only way you should cut hair in future if you want it to look good day in day in day out.
So who does dry cutting technique in India?
That I couldn’t tell you but will tell you that fairly possible we are the only ones using this trained technique. The only 3 people in the country doing it the way I learnt with the basics coming from Japan all work with us so yep.
So that’s that on the dry cutting it is as good as it sounds and if it’s something you think would suit you, your most likely right.
When you want something done to your hair and think calling around to get the cheapest you may be in for a surprise. When it’s a service not a product and rely’s on skill of delivery there could be a miss in what your dreaming about. We see it a lot and whilst we are not the cheapest we certainly are not the most expensive. If you are buying a branded pair of shoes, call all the retailers on the planet and get the cheapest, the product is the same.
If you are shopping for a plastic surgeon, hairstylist, doctor or a dentist chances are that the quality is more important than the price. We suggest coming into the salon, telling us your dream hair and your budget and let us work out how we get there. Chances are we can move towards the direction of your goals the right way, maybe maybe not but at least you will get the right advice.
Never choose discount medicine or hair, if it’s on sale chances are there is something wrong with it.
