There is nothing like a good clean out, can be your car, bathroom cabinet, spare bedroom or your closet full to the brim for the last 6 months. Our minds are exactly the same and every day, week and year we keep stockpiling utter crap into them, every now and then it’s good to wipe the slate clean and get a fresh viewpoint.
Now when it comes to cleaning out the bathroom cabinet we have a few tricks to not only save you money but also streamline your hair care regime so here goes!
Pull out all the hair products, past and present and assess what needs throwing out and what needs using up asap
Before you buy anymore finish what you have ( we always encourage finishing what you have UNLESS it’s harmful to your color.
Sometimes ( sadly more often than it should ) you will be sold product that you simply don’t need or maybe you did then but your hair has changed. Write a list of what you have and show your hairstylist and see what needs to be put in the bin or replaced. If you have products you have no idea what they are or how to use it, take it with you next visit and ask.
If it’s got 3 drops in it, please throw it out don’t hold on to it.
Put them all back in the cupboard with the ones you need to use now and start using them!
With a little planning and knowing what you have not only will you save money, your hair care will have a plan with the right products to take care of it!
We have always maintained trends come and go, we re hash them make them relevant and the circle of fashion is again complete. 2017 is all set to be the year that we all want change, the easiest way to change your look completely is bangs!
After all there at times when you want a total change but not prepared to loose length this is a perfect time to do bangs!
Here are some options that we hope you get a little inspo!
Looking for the easiest way to change your look then maybe it’s time you got banged up 😜. Here are some various options of bangs to make things a little easier to choose because by now you know any bang is not always a good bang ( pun intended )
Bangs are always in, depending on what suits you both fave shape as well as personality maybe it’s the change you need!
So besides the fact that it’s Christmas week, let’s make it clear a few things you should not do in a salon ( in no particular order ). We know for a lot of people they search for a salon based on location or price or even Facebook numbers! If you want a whatever salon and don’t really care then congratulations “average” is everywhere. If your after more then make sure you don’t do these things in the salon when you turn up 10 min late.
Safe to say walking in, not saying anything other than the words “Cut” is not going to get us off on the right foot!
Don’t tell us how to do your hair, tell us how you want it. Doing hair is our job.
Use the salon with respect, talking on a phone so loudly is plain rude, people come to the salon to get away from this.
Don’t ask a professional hairdressery ” hurry up ” as that does not end well at all.
Bring your lunch in and spread it out all over the salon thinking your on a picnic with your hairdresser.
We all say words, that to us have a definite meaning based on our life and our experience. Your feelings or thoughts on those words and others is not correct or incorrect it’s simply different. Let us explain a few examples to make sure we are all on the same page because it’s super important that your hair stylist & you have a complete conversation around the words you use when we talk color. Someone who’s hair that is above the collar will have a certain picture in their mind what is short and if your hair is halfway down your back chances are your version of short will not be the same.
Let’s look at some variations of gold or copper
Now let’s look at some variations of red’s
So you can see when you are describing color there is many factors to consider, be it your filter of the word itself to the experience you & the stylist have had. Using images as a reference is the best way to explain your version making sure to have references of what you don’t like.
Defining your idea of the color will help the hairstylist and you be able to achieve your goal.
I call it ” rough enough is good enough” hairstyling. We rarely post country specific content but after seeing the Standard of “beach waves” to a simple Top Knot recently we feel the need to show you the difference, doing hair for editorials or shoots are a privelige that is typically earnt and not just a job, they tend to be chosen through budget constraints or even more sadly based on friendship. Stylists don’t see the difference between sleek and messy further than the looks that were relevant in the 90’s and think hair is like choosing the lunch menu and barely care how it will look since they hope the overall styling will out shine the crappy hair. No, this is not a attack rather a frustration that the Only way the overall imagery will grow and develop is if the right people are either chosen or at least trained.
Producing beautiful images is a team effort and hairstylists are an important part of the process that can now not be overlooked, can turn your $5,000 shoot from backpage to cover easily.
Beach wave references
The version of beach waves achieved!
This is the result!
Let’s look at soft waves
As an Industry let us try to set ourselves apart and become better! If you are a brand then you need to address the hair you want in your editorial rather than only adding it to your conversation on the day of the shoot.
If your a stylist, know the difference and know who is capable of doing it and who isn’t, the overall image is your work so make sure you stand out!
If your a photographer, well hopefully you already agree and have the right people to work with.
Well the same crap every December when we think next year will go slower but yet it doesn’t 2016 has been full of its own events let’s check them out! ( not in any particular order )
The hidden Rainbow trend got more attention but trying to get less attention!
The entire world said enough is enough we should all be equal, black white pink or grey your human and we are all the same! #blacklivesmatter
An entire country stop taking their medication long enough to elect this twat!
Possibly our generations most followed woman was robbed at gun point in Paris. Returns to New York with a 15 car convoy.
Kanye West has a series of break down moments and is hospitalised.
The black and white double trouble color that depending on the way you part your hair can be black or blonde.
We opened our Flgship salon in Meherchand and is rocking
Every salon in India still hiding their password the same place as there talented stylist lol ( no one can find them )
Hundreds of new DIY’s made us busy fixing color after color and even had a few disasters with bangs that made us secretly smile.
People started growing their hair whilst waiting in ATM que’s around the country just to get a few bucks to buy essentials whilst the “elite” spent countless hours on google trying to find a way to develop a scam to exchange their loot!
Yep America decided as a country to stop taking med’s and have gone completely mental now the rest of the world is issuing travel warnings based on your mental health safety
Over a year on after over 8000 people died in Nepal and still rebuilding from the worst earthquake in their history.
A medieval town in Italy after its series of earthquakes that shocked the world killing over 300 people.
We all decided that the constant crap we are exposed too is just crap, media is changing, our life expectations are changing and we as humanity are less moved by devastation and only react to shock rather than facts. Sadly a lot of the media we see is cleaverly written misleading headlines to get clicks on posts in the hope to be bigger stronger and more “viral” than last week or last year.
Let’s pray for us all in 2017 that we get more human and more intelligent in what we see, how we treat each other and what we put as priority in our lives.
Nope not going to tell you to come visit us however I will share a fool proof way that you can get the hair you want every visit. Firstly you have to realise that choosing a salon should be based solely on communication!
If your shopping for 4g connection you do it based on the quality of reception don’t you?
I’m sure a lot of you reading this have had an experience or two that was based on what you thought was easy, you visited the salon, had reference photos and for whatever reason things just went wrong.
It’s safe to say that communication between you and the hairstylist is the ONLY way your going to discover beautiful hair each and every visit. It’s not about the number of salons has, the impressive ad in the newspaper, the fact that some salons try to do everything, it’s about the team that are actually doing your hair.
We suggest a detailed sit down conversation between you and the hairstylist you want to do your hair, find out if it’s possible ( be warned if everything is “no problem or yes yes” chances are this is not the salon for you!!)
Do your research, google and best thing is to check out feedback on social media, chances are if it’s a half assed salon it won’t be that hard to find out!
We don’t do makeup or beauty because we are a HAIR SALON not a SALOON or PARLOUR.
